I always look forward to all of Megan Miranda’s books and this is no exception. Harper Nash’s old roommate Ruby Fletcher waltzes back into Harper’s life after being released from jail to await a new trial for murder. The safe neighborhood of Hollow’s Edge is uneasy and distrustful of the possible murderer of a neighborhood couple back in their midst. Miranda is at her best here building tension and suspense. Is Ruby really guilty.? If not, who did it? Highly recommend this one!

Hollows Edge used to a nice quiet neighborhood. Until Ruby killed the Truetts. Now Ruby has been released from jail on a technicality, and for some reason comes right back to Hollows Edge. The neighbors are not happy to see her, and her presence immediately puts everyone on edge. Especially Harper, since Ruby decided she could just go right on back to being her roommate. Was the truth of what happened the night the Truetts died really all revealed?
I love Megan Miranda so of course I needed to snag a copy of this book! While I did enjoy it, it was not my favorite of hers. Ruby was very manipulative, and I honestly don’t know why every single neighbor didn’t change their locks after the murder of the Truetts. I also felt like Harper needed to grow a backbone. Why did she let Ruby come back and stay there? Why didn’t she change the locks and lock her out? She didn’t owe her a single thing. It just seemed weird to me, and the twist didn’t really do much for me. I am excited to see what Miranda comes out with next, because I do love her books, this one just missed the mark a bit for me.
How well do you really know your neighbors? Life looks peaceful and perfect in the sleepy little neighborhood of Hollow’s Edge, until that façade is shattered the night the Truetts are found dead in their bed of carbon monoxide poisoning. Although Ruby Fletcher is convicted of the murder, she is freed on a technicality and returns to the scene of the crime fourteen months later. There was plenty of circumstantial evidence, but did Ruby kill the Truetts? Why has she returned to Hollow’s Edge?
This thriller-meets-Desperate Housewives is the perfect summer beach read. It’s a quick read and I was engrossed from the first chapter. Ruby gives off a deliciously sinister and manipulative vibe. The neighbors all seem so polite to each other’s faces, but their gossipy, backstabbing natures lurk just beneath the surface. They all have something to hide, and Ms. Miranda skillfully weaves a tale with plenty of red herrings that will keep you guessing. The outcome of the story will make you think about honesty, speaking up, and what it means to be a neighbor.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for providing me an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A gated neighborhood with a sordid past. What happens when a crime is committed snd the wrong person is convicted. Over a summer old friends reunite and questions about past come to light. An idealistic setting that houses those that are anything but. Psychologically twisted
4 stars for Such a Quiet Place! I couldn’t put down this twist on a classic whodunnit novel. I enjoyed the writing style with the message boards dispersed throughout. It had characters worth rooting for and keeps you guessing until the end. I have read many books by Megan Miranda. She is a solid storyteller, and I confidently recommend this book as well as any of her other novels.
One of my favorite mystery settings is within the tight knit neighborhood, where everyone claims to know everyone, yet they’re all keeping secrets. When a couple is found murdered, tensions rise, threats are lobbed and friends are quick to turn on one another to protect their secrets. Maybe this neighborhood wasn’t as tight knit as they all thought. Maybe they don’t know each other at all. I liked this story, but I didn’t love it. First off, the couple who was murdered, died of carbon monoxide, so that was slightly disappointing, which is such a cruel thing to admit, but I wanted a bloody murder whodunit story and this one was fairly tame. It reminded me of an episode of Desperate Housewives, with all of the surface level dramatics. I wanted to understand why. Why Ruby, why target this couple? Was Ruby truly innocent, or did she actually kill this couple? The ending left me feeling a little deflated. This story on paper sounded like an incredible mystery whodunit, yet I was left wanting more depth, more mystery, less fluff.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Not my favorite Megan Miranda book, but worth a read anyway. PROS: twisty and keeps you guessing. CONS: the first half was super slow and then things sped way up right before the end. I definitely wanted to finish the book to find out what truly happened, and the suburban setting with neighbors who all know each other, but not really, was creepy and relatable.,
Ruby comes back to a sleepy neighborhood to prove that she did not murder their neighbors. This book, in true Megan Miranda fashion, is a quick easy read. It kept me guessing until the end of the story.

Thank you netgalley and Simon & Schuster for gifting me this eARC in exchange for an honest review!
I really really enjoyed this book. A little slow. But I totally didn’t guess correctly, the who and what... so I really enjoyed the ending. This be totally makes me happy I don’t have neighbors I can see lol There is a decent amount of “space” between my house and another. All I all, I would recommend this book!
A very fast-paced, hook you and reel you in, kind of book.
I read this in about three hours, and found myself relatively engaged. I think the pacing is really nice, the readability is great, but found the story a little less exciting than other books I've read by the author.
While I did not see some of the twists coming, I did think that a couple were extremely underwhelming. I also did not find the characters to be really fleshed out. They were kind of two dimensional for me.
A major sell of this book for me is that it is a fantastic summer read. Not only does it take place during the summer, but it's the perfect book to keep you company when you're pool or beach side.
3.5 stars.
Megan Miranda is an auto-buy author for me so I am thrilled I was able to read her forthcoming title Such A Quiet Place two months before it releases. Cue bookish happy dance! The novel opens with the sudden and unexpected return of Ruby Fletcher to the neighborhood of Hollow’s Edge after 14 months in prison for allegedly murdering neighbors Brandon and Fiona Truett. Ruby’s murder conviction has been overturned and she is back in Hollow’s Edge with a mission, whether she’s pursuing justice or vengeance remains to be seen.
Her former roommate Harper Nash and the rest of the close knit neighbors are immediately frustrated by the tension and suspicions her presence brings back to the neighborhood. I got the sense from the first pages that something is not quite right in this seemingly quiet and picturesque neighborhood. These neighbors know things about each other, things they may be willing to go to great lengths to keep under wraps and Miranda keeps the tension rising the entire time as the drama unfolds. I really enjoyed the suspense and mystery throughout the book and highly recommend it to readers who love mysteries and thrillers. Thank you to Simon and Schuster for the ARC via NetGalley. Look for this incredible thriller on July 13, 2021.
The setup of SUCH A QUIET PLACE sounds fantastic and I was really looking forward to digging in. However, this domestic suspense novel fell a bit short for me.
The story seems to start in an odd place. I sort of wish we saw the crime firsthand early on, so that we don't feel like we are arriving to the scene too late. I know people have differing opinions on a prologue, but perhaps one (back in time, 14 months ago) would have brought the reader into the story in a more natural way.
I had a hard time connecting with Harper. She seemed so gullible and naive and I grew frustrated with how she let Ruby manipulate her and get back into her house.
Ruby is charismatic and I enjoyed her scenes.
The neighborhood is great and I could easily picture it, thanks for Miranda's fantastic descriptions.
The mob mentality aspect of the story feels very timely and interesting.
All in all, this is a good read even if I have some quibbles with it.
Thank you so much Simon and Schuster for my ARC to review. Megan Miranda is one of my favorite authors and I was so excited to get my hands on her newest book!!! Such a Quiet place was an awesome slow burn. Starts out with a double homicide everyone in the neighborhood places blame on one girl, but did she do it!?! The story unravels a tangled web of lies. Up until the very end I was unsure of what really happened in "quiet" Hollows Edge. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Review coming soon. Thanks to Megan Miranda, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC; the opinions are mine.

Megan Miranda is the queen of quick thrillers - I did not expect this ending. Perfect for book club or just reading a book with girlfriends. Plenty of who done it's to speculate on!
I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Megan Miranda's next mystery will have you wondering if your neighbors are doing shady stuff or capable of murder.
Harper works in the admissions office of a small college on a lake near Virginia Beach. 14 months ago, her neighbors Brandon and Fiona Truett died from carbon monoxide poisoning. Harper had taken in Ruby Fletcher, who she knew as a college student and then as a teacher in the community. After Ruby's dad retired, she needed a place to stay and Harper's long term boyfriend Aidan left her. So Harper invited Ruby to live in her home as a roommate. Ruby is not the kind of person you can easily ignore, especially in the quiet lakeside college community. Fast forward 14 months after Ruby was convicted of double murder, thanks to the neighbors' testimony. The Truetts were not liked or fit in well with the community. But now, Harper has Brandon's job and Ruby was set free because of new evidence. That's when Ruby comes back to stay at Harper's house, not really giving her a choice. Days before July 4th, the fireworks are starting all over again.
I enjoyed most of the book. By the end I just wanted to know what happened and who was responsible for the deaths in the neighborhood. 4 out of 5 stars.
A decent thriller. Not quite a page turner… it took me over a week to get through. But it had an interesting variety of characters, a unique plot, and was well written. Will recommend as a beach read!
"We had no warning that she’d come back."
Hollow’s Edge was an idyllic quiet private place to live, until the murder of the Truetts. This murder quickly turns this neighborhood into a place where the residents can't seem to sell their houses fast enough. When the neighbor Ruby Fletcher gets her conviction overturned, she returns to Hollow’s Edge. Shortly after Ruby's return, suspicion spreads and it becomes obvious that not everyone was honest about the night of the Truett’s murders.
Megan Miranda writes another great mystery that is sure to keep the reader wondering what is next.
I loved this book, as I do all of Megan Miranda's novels! I was so happy to have the opportunity to read her novel before publication. This book, like her others, was intensely suspenseful from beginning to end. Clues are weaved throughout the story seamlessly and no statements should be taken for granted, as the little things are sure to come up again in meaningful ways. I appreciated that it was not at all predictable and the author managed to sow doubt in every character, so that the outcome wasn't at all obvious. It was a great plot with a surprising end!
Thank you to Simon & Schuster and NetGalley for providing this Advance Reading Copy. Expected publication date is July 13, 2021.
Another page turner from Megan Miranda who is soon becoming one of my favorite psychological thriller authors.
Ruby lives in and idyllic neighborhood. You know the kind — where everybody knows everybody else. A neighborhood where every helps each other out — a closeknit neighborhood where everyone gathers by the pool to celebrate birthdays and holidays. Almost like family — that is until two of the neighbors are found dead in their home. Ruby is suspected of the murder and has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. Fourteen months later she is back, set free because of some irregularities found at the trial. Yes, Ruby is back and she will do anything to clear her name which puts this once quiet little neighborhood on edge. Because, if Ruby didn’t do it, who did?
