Good read— I did struggle getting into it at the beginning but really enjoyed the mystery of trying to figure out the mystery and where the book was going. Definitely can’t wait to recommend to others!

I've always been a fan of Megan Miranda, however, Such a Quiet Place was not my favorite. While it had this building suspense and mounting tension, I feel like the story fell flat and I did not find myself being surprised much throughout.

This is not my first Megan Miranda book, but I have found with the last couple that they just don't thrill me as much as I hope when looking at them and reading the blurbs. It took me quite a long time to get into this book and I just was not interested or invested in the main characters this time around.

The story is set in the gated community of Hollow's Edge. Fourteen months ago, Ruby Fletcher was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the double homicide of her neighbors. And now, released on a technicality, Ruby heads back to Hollow's Edge. Her roommate, Harper, and the other community members are shocked and confused...and a little scared since they mostly all testified against her. But not everyone was being truthful and now things are starting to fall apart in their idyllic neighborhood.

While everything about this seems captivating, this book missed the mark for me.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advance eBook in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was an interesting concept. I liked Harper. I thought that the idea of the closed community and how everyone saw things from a different perspective was an interesting take. Some of the parts were a bit predictable. And, there were a lot of characters to keep straight, so pay attention. I thought the story moved pretty well.

I have read an enjoyed some of Megan Miranda’s other books, so I was excited when I received an ARC of Such. a Quiet Place to review. The book took me a little longer than normal to read due to its slower start. The opening of the book got me hooked as soon as it mentioned a suspected homicide that took place in a small HOA and the main suspect is another resident. It was easy to relate to the nosey and cliquey neighbors which made up an intrusive HOA. The resident is in jail for 14 months before being released. She returns to the neighborhood where it all began stirring up more drama. This is where the book started to lose my interest. There was too much anticlimactic back story and sleuthing. My interest peaked again in the last quarter of the book, but the ending still left me with unanswered questions. I feel like the author could have cut some of the less interesting build up and instead invested a chapter to tie up the loose ends at the end.

Thank you so much Netgally for this ARC of Such a Quiet Place.
After reading The Girl from Widow Hills, I knew I had to get my hands on another Megan Miranda book! This story was easy to follow and fall through with the characters. I enjoyed Harper's character and was able to understand her immediately. This was such a dark atmospheric books and the fact that the whole neighborhood went to the same college.... WICKED. This compelling locked room mystery and all of its secrets is something I would recommend to my friends!!! Although the ending was a bit predictable, I was on my toes the whole time with all the intriguing whodunit scenarios!!!

This was such an entertaining book that kept me guessing from the beginning until the end. I really enjoyed how things dropped into place slowly throughout the entire book until the explosive ending!

This review is waaaay overdue, but that’s mainly because I had such a hard time finishing this book. I really want to like this book given how much I’ve loved other Megan Miranda pieces but there was something about Such A Quiet Place that I just couldn’t get into. It took me MONTHS to get through this book and I only got through it because I hate not knowing endings. Normally I can blow through a thriller in 24-48 hours but this just wasn’t doing it for me.

I’m usually a sucker for ”locked door” type mysteries but the close-knit and snoozy community of Hollows Edge had me on edge in all the wrong ways (I try to be punny). It felt excruciatingly slow and there were several times I just wanted to knock some sense into Harper. The plot moved far too slowly for my liking and while the characters were interesting I found that the “twist” ending didn’t actually live up to the effort put into reading it (I’m not a bit fan of twists where you have to suspend your belief in logic).

Overall while I’ve loved Megan Miranda from
her “All the Missing Girls” debut, I wasn’t a fan of “Such a Quiet Place” and just needed more information dropped in the first half of the novel.

Thank you to Netgalley, Megan Miranda, and Simon & Schuster publishing for a copy of “Such A Quiet Place” in exchange for an honest review.

How have I not read a Megan Miranda book before? I LOVED this book! It was fast paced with just high plot twists to keep me guessing. It would make a great miniseries. I will definite be looking for more books by this author. I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

This was a slow burn that got more exciting in the second half and then gave hints of the adrenaline rush a good thriller produces. Enjoyable protagonist and interesting character development, though it was hard at times to keep track of everyone. Some of the side stories felt a bit distracting and didn’t add much to the storyline. Overall, a good book, but not sure this would be on the top of my thriller recommendation list. 3/5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

A fun twisty read with an ending I couldn't predict, just what I like in a book! Well written and thought out, kept me guessing until the end. This book is set in exactly the type of community everyone wants to live in, or do they?

This is my third Megan Miranda novel. The first was The Last House Guest which I was unable to make myself finish, and then The Girl From Widow Hills which I loved. Unfortunately this fell into the same category as The Last House Guest. The only reason I finished it was because I kept thinking it would get better.

First, the pace, it is so incredibly slow. Second, the characters, not a single redeemable one among them, even the MC. Speaking of the main character, she was so incredibly weak and basically would flip flop on her opinions based on what whoever she was talking to thought, some of her actions also made no sense to me. Lastly, I never enjoy it when a storyline involves someone investigating things that the police should be involved in, with no valid reason. You want to find the culprit… but you’re going to withhold information from the trained detectives who are also trying to find the guilty party? Doesn’t work for me.

Thank you @netgalley and @simonandschuster for the digital review copy.

After 14 months in prison, Ruby shows up in her old neighborhood of Hollow’s Edge and the neighbors are freaking out. As well they should — since Ruby was imprisoned for the murder of two Hollow’s Edge residents. She moves back in with Harper, our protagonist, who doesn't exactly know how much to be afraid of her former best friend who's now cleared of charges thanks to new evidence that recently came to light. She does seem to have returned with a mission, and it seems to be to wreak havoc on the neighborhood.

Wow, what a huge let down this book was. I had to listen to the audiobook to get through it. Such a promising premise but felt completely let down by the turn of events. It did feel very Desperate Housewives-esque and for that I kind of vibed with it. But there was just too many plot points that didn't add up for me like (and psa, spoilers ahead): the fact that the "murder" at the beginning of the book was a carbon dioxide poisoning and a jury convicted a girl with very little evidence who literally had 0 motive? like no way who's buying that?

I didn't *love* the other two books by Megan Miranda but I liked them enough to give this one a try and I'm so very meh about the outcome.

I was riveted by this book! In typical fashion, it was a slow burn mystery! We learn a lot about the characters and how they relate to Ruby. Enjoyed this one a ton!

I found this book really hard to get through and almost boring at times. I usually love this author's work but I guess this one just wasn't for me. If you love the author’s other work you should try this book. You may like it more than I did but for me it just didn’t hit the mark.

*** I received an arc of this book from the author/publisher from Netgalley. I wasn’t obligated to write a favorable review or any review at all. The opinions expressed are strictly my own.

Such a Quiet Place was my first Megan Miranda book, and unfortunately I have learned that her storytelling is just not for me. I had problems with this suspense thriller in which a close knit neighborhood of obsessive "camera watchers" gets a fellow neighbor sent to prison for a murder that she possibly did not commit, from the very start. Miranda immediately introduces us to a wide array of characters before we have even been able to find our bearings in this story. I was completely confused as to who was who throughout the story and eventually gave up on attempting to follow the side characters' stories. The plot meanders throughout much of the book with main character Harper obsessing over why newly exonerated murderer Ruby has returned to the neighborhood. Unfortunately by the time all of the pieces started to fit together, I no longer cared.

Megan Miranda, author of acclaimed books such as "All the Missing Girls" and "The Last House Guest", is known for her mysterious, thrilling novels. In her newest book, "Such a Quiet Place", murder has come to the Hollow's Edge neighborhood. When the presumed killer, Ruby, returns back home, suspicions arise and the entire neighborhood is on edge. I was quickly drawn into their world and couldn't put the book down until discovering who the true culprit was. However, I was a little disappointed and didn't understand the motivations behind the killer. The ending was a bit of a let down.
