3.5 stars! Such a Quiet Place is a fast-paced psychological thriller, full of suspicious characters with hidden secrets that’ll keep you guessing.

14 months ago, Ruby Fletcher is found guilty of murdering her neighbors. But when her conviction is overturned, she returns to Hollow’s Edge seeking revenge on those that testified against her in court. Suddenly it is not so quiet anymore and everyone is on edge. Did Ruby kill her neighbors or is there another murderer on their quiet little street?

Thanks to #NetGalley, Megan Miranda, and Simon & Schuster for the ARC of #SuchAQuietPlace.

This is a slow paced mystery that builds to a a very clever ending. The story starts off with Ruby, who just got out of prison due to her conviction being overturned, coming back to the neighborhood where she was accused of killing the couple next door. Our protagonist of this story is Harper, Ruby's former roommate, and she is shocked when Ruby shows up at her house suddenly after being released. Harper actually testified on Ruby's behalf during her trial but despite that and the overturned conviction she isn't sure if Ruby is guilty or innocent. Alongside Ruby's return Harper starts to receive menacing notes and realizes she needs to figure out exactly what happened that night a year ago.

The strongest part of this story for me was the characters and the locked room vibe of the story. The crime took place in a small community neighborhood where half the people also work at the same place. All the characters have something going on and since we only view them from Harper's perspective we are never quite sure who we can or can't trust. I also appreciated the fact that while the environment is seemingly wide open the actual plot kept it very contained. The neighborhood is just a regular one but because of the message board and the choices Miranda made the actual number of people who could have been involved is quite small. For that reason, I do think that you will not enjoy this book as much as I did if you don't really care for character driven stories. The mystery was untangling before us but it happened at such a slow pace at times that if you need action for a story to matter to you then I would think twice about picking this particular mystery up. To me, the ending more then made up for whatever bits slowed the book down. It was a brilliant way to end the story while also remaining true to the message of the story. Which is how well do we really know our neighbors?

This is the third Megan Miranda book that I have read and I really enjoy her writing. She has such a methodical and mesmerizing way of unraveling a mystery. This would make a great beach/pool day read and I highly recommend to all my fellow mystery lovers. Or anyone in the market for a remarkable summer read.

Sad to say this was my first Netgalley book that I was not impressed with. I was so excited for it, but it fell completely flat for me.

Such a Quiet Place by Megan Miranda takes place on a quaint little street in Virginia. The story is told from Harper’s point of view when her former roommate is released from prison-for the murder of their neighbors. The rest of the neighbors feel uneasy about having a convicted felon in their midst. However, Ruby is out to seek the truth, claiming her innocence and creating a divide against the neighbors.
.
The climax of this book I can best describe as ‘meh’. I was waiting for big, juicy neighborhood drama and was served none. The truth behind the neighbors deaths actually took away from the story. I reread the last chapter twice trying to figure out what I missed along the way. There is also mention of something else in the last chapter that makes no sense and left me feeling bemused.
.
Solid 2.5 for me, but rounded to a 3.

I just don't know how I feel about this book. On one hand, it was a pretty interesting read. On the other hand, it was a bit.... eeeehhhh.

I think what has me teetering on this book is the slow pace. The premise of the book itself is very interesting. The mystery of it all was very intriguing. But getting clues and the story moving forward was like watching paint dry. I found myself telling my Kindle to get on with it already.

I can't say I liked the characters in the book. I also can't say that's a good or bad thing. I don't think the reader is supposed to necessarily really like the characters. That's the whole point to the story. However, it would have been nice to have some kind of allegiance with at least a couple of them early on.

Overall, I am in the middle on this book. Do I think it's worth a read? Sure. Do I think this book will be on any of my favorite lists for the year? Probably not.

A look into the secrets that lie in a seemingly idyllic community...

Fast paced read, with twists that kept me guessing right until the very end!

Such a Quiet Place is another great story by Megan Miranda.

Can you trust your neighbors? Can you trust your friends? Can you trust the man you have been seeing? These are all questions being asked in this story. Something terrible happens in the neighborhood and there is only one person to blame..........isn’t there? Who do you trust? Who do you believe?
Read this book to find out! Great character, great story line and once again a great “who done it”.

This book was soo good and a quick read then when a big reveal happened in the second half it was kind of just slow and I wasn't really too interested. Also I'm not really into books with a ton of characters to keep track of.

Such a Quiet Place is about a close knit neighborhood that has experienced a tragic double murder. Ruby, one of the neighbors, is arrested, tried, and convicted of the double murder. However, after 14 months, she’s released on a technicality. Ruby then returns to the neighborhood, saying she’s determined to get revenge on the people there that put her behind bars. Harper, her roommate, works to try to contain Ruby’s antics, but the neighborhood is scared and things spiral out of control. Was Ruby wrongfully convicted? Did the neighborhood conspire to put her behind bars? Is anybody safe with Ruby back?

Another great storyline by Megan Miranda! I have enjoyed all of her books, and this was one of my favorites of hers! Such a Quiet Place was a page turner - I read it in one day because I was so engaged with the characters and the plot. Definitely a must read for fans of Megan Miranda’s thrillers, or anybody that loves psychological thrillers with good twists.

Hollow's Edge is a small community where neighbors not only all know each other, but most even work together. It seemed like the perfect place to live until a couple is murdered and suspicion is cast on one of the residents. Ruby Fletcher has served 14 months for the murder of the couple, but her conviction has just been overturned. Much to everyone's surprise, Ruby comes back to Hollow's Edge to the home of Harper Nash, who Ruby lived with before her arrest. Ruby proclaims her innocence and insists the real killer is still out there. The community of residents all seem united in believing that Ruby is guilty. Harper is not so sure... she can't imagine that Ruby was capable of murdering anyone, but she also considers some of the evidence along with Ruby's unusual behavior at times. The residents want Ruby out of the neighborhood, but Harper is having a hard time telling her she needs to go. When yet another event sends shockwaves through Hollow's Edge, no one knows who they can truly trust.

While the idea of a Hollow's Edge may seem appealing, there is also a darker side to living in such a tight community. Such a Quiet Place shows how quickly people can band together to turn on one person and the lengths some will go to to protect their own.

Fourteen months ago, Ruby was convicted of killing a husband and wife. Now she’s out, the case will be reopened, and Ruby is back. Is she innocent, guilty, seeking revenge? Do we really know our neighbors?

This was a slow-burn, character-driven story, so it worked well for me. One of my favorite Megan Miranda thrillers.

I've read most of Megan Miranda's books, but this one just did not work for me. I didn't like any of the characters and the mystery did not grab me

All the stars for this book that is just oozing with suspense and secrets!

Hollow’s Edge is a gorgeous subdivision...the kind of place where everyone knows everyone, and they all have frequent BBQs, holiday parties, and pool parties together. It’s always been a safe community...

...Until a little over a year ago, when The Truetts, a married couple, were found murdered in their house. Next door neighbor Ruby Fletcher was convicted of the murder.

Present Day: Harper Nash and the rest of the community try to move on as best as possible. Unfortunately, none of them can sell their homes for profit with the murder still fresh in minds. Harper actually lived with Ruby, next door to the Truetts. Now, when Ruby’s conviction is overturned on a technicality, she comes back to the one place nobody ever expected to see her again: Hollow’s Edge. More specifically, Harper’s house.

With uncomfortably thick tension in the air, suspicious activity starts trending upward in the subdivision. It appears that some neighbors were hiding secrets about the night of the murder. Is there any chance Ruby is innocent of the crime? And if so, who is the real murderer?

Does anybody really know their neighbors?

Such A Quiet Place had me hooked from the first page. It’s suspenseful, atmospheric, and great fun! The characters are all easy to keep track of, and it gives off locked room mystery vibes at times. I could imagine the sweltering heat of the summer, as well as the deceivingly quiet nights as the neighbors made their rounds for Neighborhood Watch.

The book also touches on mob mentality, which I always find interesting and alarming. There are some unexpected twists that I truly didn’t expect. I suspected each neighbor of wrongdoing at one point or another, and ended up being pleasantly surprised by at least one aspect of the ending. I don’t think I could’ve asked for more.

I got vibes of early Louise Candlish here (á la The Swimming Pool), and that is a positive. I’ve heard that author Megan Miranda can be a bit hit or miss. This is only the 2nd book of hers that I’ve read, but you can definitely consider me a fan. I already can’t wait to see what she comes out with next!

Thank you to Simon & Schuster, who provided me with a physical ARC to review, and also provided me with digital ARCs via NetGalley and Edelweiss.

I read the physical copy, and couldn’t get over the gorgeous cover!

Expected publication date: 7/13/21.

I'm feeling a little torn here. I love Megan Miranda, All The Missing Girls is one of the books that got me back into reading a couple years ago.. I've read most of her books and was SO excited when I got this arc. But I struggled with this one. I enjoyed the first 20% or so.. then I got really bored and had a hard time focusing. It didn't pick up again for me until I was like 80% through. I enjoyed the concept and the setting, it was definitely creeping me out. I've never lived in a neighborhood where everyone knows each other, and to be honest, I don't think I want to. All the sneaking around and trying to keep different neighbors and their stories straight in this book made me tired. Then the ending was just super quick. It just fell a little flat for me. 3.5, rounded to 4. Thank you so much though to NetGalley and Simo & Schuster for this ARC.

Summary: Hollow’s Edge used to be a quiet place. But then came the murder of Brandon and Fiona Truett. A year and a half later, Hollow’s Edge is simmering. The residents are trapped, unable to sell their homes, confronted daily by the empty Truett house, and suffocated by their trial testimonies that implicated one of their own. Ruby Fletcher. And now, Ruby’s back.

With her conviction overturned, Ruby waltzes right back to Hollow’s Edge, and into the home she once shared with Harper Nash. What possible good could come of Ruby returning to the scene of the crime? And how can she possibly turn her away, when she knows Ruby has nowhere to go?

Within days, suspicion spreads like a virus across Hollow’s Edge. It’s increasingly clear that not everyone told the truth about the night of the Truett’s murders. And when Harper begins receiving threatening notes, she realizes she has to uncover the truth before someone else becomes the killer’s next victim

My thoughts: this might be my favorite Megan Miranda book yet! Fabulous beginning, middle, and end. I loved the characters even though Harper drove me crazy being such a doormat! Ruby was pretty hypnotic and a super interesting antagonist. The setting was interesting in a super involved suburb. It was a mystery that will keep you guessing until the end and an all around fabulous thriller!

Such a Quiet Place was my fifth read by Megan Miranda, and it did not disappoint! I was drawn into the characters in Hollow's Edge and was kept guessing until the end. The story follows Harper, a resident of a small community with many secrets, as she tries to figure out who was responsible for the death of her neighbors. It was hard to put the book down. I couldn't wait to get back to the book and see what happened next. I enjoy the author's ability to pull you into a story. There were twists and turns, and the book had intense and dramatic moments as we discover the secrets the residents are holding onto. I am already looking forward to Megan Miranda's next book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for the ARC! I really enjoyed this book!

Solid 4 stars.

Miranda has done it again, as I have read many of her books!

You follow the story that is narrated by Harper, a local resident in a small community, when suddenly Ruby shows back up into town after spending 14 months in jail for a crime she may or may not have committed.

This will take you through the creepy twists and turns of the small town community and how they react to Ruby's return.

Worth the read.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and honestly review this book.
