This is my second Megan Miranda book and I am pleasantly surprised at how much I like her writing. When I start reading a new author I always hope I like the next book I read, and I did.

Oh Ruby! Ruby moves back to the neighborhood of cliques, suspicions, and attitudes, This is not a neighborhood I ever want to live in or visit. She is released from prison after a short sentence for killing two of the people in the neighborhood. The “real” killer is still out there and she is determined to find them. I didn’t care for the characters in this book as much as the first book I read of Megan MIranda’s. They weren’t built up enough and were not that interesting. Setting that aside, there is a lot of action and enough going on throughout the book to keep one’s interest.

This is a great mystery, enjoyable to read, and is well written. It has a somewhat satisfying ending and makes me want to read another one of her books. Thanks to Simon & Schuster and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC, I always feel honored and appreciative to be able to do this.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my copy of Such a Quiet Place by Megan Miranda. All opinions are my own.

Megan Miranda has truly mastered the horror genre and I can never wait to get my hands on her books. Such a Quiet Place did not disappoint. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire read with plenty of twists and turns along the way. My one complaint is that there were so many side characters that I found it hard to follow at times, but this was overall a fantastic domestic thriller.

I’m a fan of Megan Miranda and have read all of her books, but this one fell short for me. The story centers on a close-knit college-town, neighborhood dealing with the aftermath of a double murder. The accused murderer has just been let out of prison due to a technicality and returns to the neighborhood, to the dismay of all the residents.

This had a whodunnit mystery but was more of a sociological examination of people in a neighborhood and the lengths to which they go to protect themselves and their loved ones from perceived threats. There was nothing wrong with this. It just didn’t draw me in and I felt disconnected to the characters and, therefore, not really interested in the outcome.

How well do you know your neighbors? Harper finds out just how far her neighbors are willing to go to cover up their secrets & lies fueled by a little manipulation.

✨ I’m going to make this review short & sweet.

I think this is her best book to date. As always, I was immediately pulled into the story. And a wild story it was. This takes eavesdropping, secrets, friend drama, and manipulation to a whole new level. I really enjoyed Such a Quiet Place. I couldn’t put this book down, and I finished it in one sitting.

Overall rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5 stars

Such a Quiet Place is an imaginative neighborhood whodunnit with a suspenseful setting and a cast of characters you almost love to hate.

I enjoyed the slow burn, and the ending – for the most part – was satisfying, but I was able to easily predict the outcome fairly early on.

Although I wasn’t fascinated by it, I did find this novel to be an enjoyable and easy read. While it was not my favorite by this author, I will certainly still read her books in the future.

My thanks to NetGalley and Simon &. Schuster for a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. This will be in stores on July 13, and you’re going to want to grab your own copy.

Definitely a slow burn mystery/thriller. I love the setting; a nosy little subdivision not unlike ones many of us live in. This one didn't rate higher for me because of how long it took to really get going, but it was cozy mystery that I ultimately enjoyed.

Thanks to NetGalley and Simon Schuster for the digital ARC of this book!

Not quite the page turner I was hoping for but it picked up toward the end and there were a few surprises. It was a little too slow for my style but it was an overall good book. This is the 4th book I’ve read by Megan Miranda and unfortunately this one was not a hit for me. Two of her books I absolutely loved but the other two I did not.

Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read Megan Miranda's Such a Quiet Place. Mystery/thrillers are not my preferred genre, but I enjoy Megan Miranda's writing style. I also enjoyed The Last House Guest and now I'm looking forward to reading more of her books. I like the psychology behind her thrillers and her character studies are very in depth. She has a slow burn sharp and smart approach. The cover design caught my eye and the story reeled me in from the very first page. I would say it is a quick read, although I took my time with the story as I waited for the big reveal. I could picture the setting...a sleepy college town along the lake with the cookie cutter houses nestled in among the woods. As the reader, you think you have it all figured out, but there is an element of suspense weaved in throughout the book. Do you really know your neighbor? Your spouse? Your roommate? Your significant other? Your own child?
Lots of themes are explored...love, secrecy, trust, family, friendship, mental health, etc. But essentially, most of the characters are caught up with an inner struggle...do you really know yourself? What are you truly capable of when you are tested?
It was a fantastic story and I enjoyed the psychological ride. It could benefit from some minor editing in the first third of the book as it felt repetitive in parts, but overall a very worthwhile read.

This book had me intrigued from the start. The people in this neighborhood are close, but are they really? The book slowly unfolds sharing new tidbits as it goes on which definitely kept my attention. I was hooked, I wanted to know what happened before and what happened now. I did receive an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this whodunit thriller. It kept me guessing until the end. I loved following this community and finding out all their secrets. I definitely recommend it. It is my favorite of hers so far.

Megan Miranda's latest felt like an homage to the mysteries of Agatha Christie. It's a whodunit focused more on details surrounding the murder with little to no character studies. The setting is a good one - a close knit group of neighbors living in a small community, many of whom are also colleagues working at the college across the lake. I found the descriptions of the close-set houses with the tiny yards, high fences, and security cameras tracking every neighbor's move to feel claustrophobic. I'm not sure if the author was going for that or if it was supposed to be more idyllic, but it ended up feeling like one of the last places I would want to live.
The murders and surrounding twists are interesting, and I also felt that the pacing was right - it's a fast read. What didn't quite work for me were the characters. It was difficult to get a sense of them or feel really interested in Harper, the main character. I also never really saw them as being close-knit. They are described that way, but it didn't feel true. On the other hand, perhaps that's the point...there is analysis here of how we lie to ourselves and others and how it alters our perceptions of reality.

I'm stumped a bit. I really like this author, and in reflecting on the book, all the pieces are there for an enjoyable read. Yet, somehow I was just never that invested. Maybe it's more of a "it's not you, it's me" reading moment for me, but I found this to be forgettable.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I had high hopes for this Megan Miranda novel. A crime is committed in a wealthy, gated community. This is a neighborhood where people keep tabs on each other and pay attention to the comings and goings of their neighbors. The community is rocked to the core when one of their own is charged with murdering a couple. When the accused is released on a technicality and returns, apprehension runs high and trouble seems inevitable.
This is a tense novel, with plenty of twists and turns. Unfortunately, the story was slow and draggy for me. I was disappointed with Harper as the protagonist. I found myself upset by many of her decisions and choices, expecting more from her as the smart young woman the author described. The other characters all blurred together for me and I felt I didn't really know one from another or care much about them.
I look forward to Megan Miranda's next novel and hope it will be better than this one.

LOVED THIS ONE! Megan Miranda will never let you down!
When Harper Nash's former roommate sashays back into her house, no one is more surprised than her. Ruby had been convicted of murdering the neighbors, and had spend 18 months in prison before the conviction is overturned. Harper had testified against Ruby, along with the entire neighborhood. With the testimony, and security camera footage, Ruby was convicted. Only she swears there was someone else in the woods that night, and they were the real murderer.
With Ruby acting like everything has returned to normal, the neighbors are in an uproar. They cannot let a murderer return to their quiet street, and it seems like someone will do anything to keep the truth from being uncovered.
A thriller that will keep you guessing until the very last page.

Megan Miranda returns with another intense thriller that grabs your attention with an intriguing start. Centered in Hollow's Edge, a private "secure" community, neighbors are shocked when Ruby's conviction is overturned and she returns to live in the neighborhood. Although this beginning hooked me immediately, it felt like much of the book progressed like a slow burning candle. Not that this is a bad thing, it was just slower than her other books. There were many plot twists leaving the reader wondering who was truly guilty and guilty of what.
As a fan of Megan Miranda, I enjoyed this ARC of her latest thriller but it probably is not my favorite.

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for my advance reader copy in exchange for my honest review. This book will be published July 13, 2021.

Take your perfect, everyone knows everyone neighborhood. Add a double murder. Fast forward 14 months and the person who was convicted gets released and comes back to the neighborhood. No one wants her back and there are a lot of secrets uncovered. Not quite the page turner I was hoping for but it picked up toward the end and there were a few surprises.

This book had everything I love - murder mysteries, suburban drama, and unlikable characters. I hated the main character, and I hated Ruby, but I couldn't keep myself from devouring this book and trying to figure out what happens next. Which... I did, pretty early on. That being said, I loved how fast-paced this book was and thought it was well-written. If I put together an ending but still enjoy the ride the author took me on, then it's a good read. I can see this being a popular summer read and would not hesitate to recommend to others. Definitely will not be the last Megan Miranda book I read!

This twisty, suspenseful story explores one of Miranda's favorite themes: the secrets we all keep, the lies we tell to protect ourselves, and how little we really know of other people, even the ones we call friends.
Ruby Fletcher returns to the quiet neighborhood of Hollow's Edge by the lake after she is released pending a retrial for the murder of a couple in the neighborhood because of new evidence. The narrative explores the reactions of her neighbors in the community to her return. It is told from the viewpoint of her housemate, Harper Nash, to whose house she unexpectedly returns. Those in the community react with fear and anger to Ruby's release and return to Hollow's Edge. Everyone has something to hide and someone is leaving anonymous, vaguely threatening notes and photographs for Harper. Before long, there is another fatality and the neighborhood is plunged into a police investigation and notoriety once again.
The story is compelling, the characters convincing, and the sense of menace builds as the novel reaches its climax. The twist in the tale at the story's end is satisfyingly unpredictable yet believable.
This is a highly readable psychological thriller that will not disappoint fans of Megan Miranda.

All the Missing Girls is one of my all time favorite books. I read it years ago and still remember it so I was excited to see a new one by Megan Miranda. Overall, it was a decent book, but it wasn't one that stole the day from me and demanded I read it from start to finish in one sitting. It was still good! I liked the characters, most of them, and there is a plot twist that turns the whole book on it's head. It's a good quick read!
Thank you to Simon & Schuster and NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Suspenseful and sucked me on from the beginning! There is a murder in a close knit neighborhood- Ruby is initially found guilty but 14 months later she’s out of prison - the case over turned... creepy at times this slow burn novel kept me up late at night wanting to find out the truth!! A well written thriller you should add to your to be read list!

Thank you to NetGalley, Simon and Schuster for this ARC!

This was a fun and easy mystery/thriller and “whodunnit.” Not my favorite by Miranda (that would be “The Last House Guest”) but a nice escape.
