I want to start off by saying thank you to NetGalley, Simon & Schuster, and Megan Miranda for this advanced copy of Such a Quiet Place. I would give this slow burning whodunnit style book 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️’s. It was a little too slow for my style but it was an overall good book.
Hollow’s Edge neighborhood is a nice and quite neighborhood. This is the place where everyone celebrates together and looks out for each other. Hollow’s Edge is like the perfect family. Until Ruby Fletcher moves in with Harper Nash. Then Brandon and Fiona Truett dies unexpectedly and Ruby us to blame. The residents all testify against Ruby and she is charged with their murders. Until her lawyer gets Ruby’s conviction overturned. Ruby waltzes right back into Hollow’s Edge. What good could it be for Ruby to be back? Everyone is on edge. And that is when Harper starts receiving threatening messages. Oh the fun of having Ruby back in the neighborhood.
Wow! This book was so dang good!! You will get sucked into the plot and will not look up till you are done! It truly kept my attention the entire time I was reading it.
This book was a definite slow burn that gave glimpses into the secret lives of each neighbor. You never really knew what they were up to or their motives. I loved the implementation of the online community board in this book. It really painted a clear picture of each of the resident’s personalities. The ending, I did not see coming and left me feeling disgusted with the whole neighborhood. I love a good neighborhood drama book and this one did not disappoint!
Well, I am already a huge fan of Megan Miranda, but I may just have a new favorite. Her writing style is so addictive I can never put them down. I read her books when I have a day off so I don’t have to be disturbed. I’d always recommend Miranda’s books to anyone that will listen.
Thankyou so much for the advanced copy. I’ll also be buying a book for my shelf.
I already love Megan Miranda, so I was very happy to receive this ARC! This took me a little minute to get into, as there are a lot of characters, but wait for it! Where this story ends up going is extremely well done and very different! It is also a timely tale as far as dealing with rumors, social media and mob mentality. Don't want to give too much away but I enjoyed it very much and am looking forward to the next Megan Miranda book!
Great Book! I was able to get a copy of this book via Netgalley and Simon & Schuster. I have never read anything by Megan Miranda, but I had heard about her books and was excited to read this one.
Hollow's Edge may seem like a pleasant small community, right near a college and great families, that is however, until Brandon and Fiona Truett were murdered. Now a year and half later, the woman accused of these murders has been released and is back. Ruby is determined she is innocent and is not afraid to let herself be seem back home. So what happens when everyone is so desperate to keep their secrets buried. How far will they go?
I was hooked by this book and was very engaged by the different characters and the connections they had to one another. I will say the amount of the characters had me referring to the map in the front multiple times to keep things straight, but the mystery was engaging and it was building throughout. I did not expect the ending, but I think it turned out to be a satisfying ending.

A must read thriller that will have you keeping the light on in the night. Megan Miranda has a way of spinning a crafty tale that you can't put down. Such a Quiet Place does not disappoint on any level. Great plot with little thorny twists sprinkled throughout the novel. Pick it up to read!
When a couple in the neighborhood end up dead, their neighbor Ruby goes to jail after being charged with their murder. She is eventually exonerated, released from jail and returns to the neighborhood to the consternation of the residents. There is some question about whether she really committed the murders, and whether she might be looking for revenge for her conviction. While there were some good twists in this book, I found all of the characters annoying and self-centered and the plot was pretty slow-moving. Overall, I liked this book but didn't love it.
* Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a free ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
I have been a big fan of Megan Miranda’s work for quite a while, and I was extremely excited to be able to read and review an advanced copy of her newest book, Such A Quiet Place, coming this July.
Such A Quiet Place is about a small and safe community where everyone knows everyone and they all look out for each other... or so it would seem. Until the mysterious murder of two of the residents unhinges their sense of security and what they thought they knew about each other.
Megan Miranda is a master of suspense and probably the best at writing flashbacks. She effortlessly sweeps you away into the life and past of her characters and reveals little by little the answers to the mystery; answers that lie in their memories. Just like all her books, Such A Quiet Place does not disappoint.
This book reveals the characters' flashbacks in a slightly different way than her previous books. The flashbacks in this story are only revealed through the characters reminiscing, and not through real-time scenes of past events, like she has done before. However, this new approach offers a fresh take to something she does so well.
The characters in Such A Quiet Place were well written and full of layers, pulling you deeper and deeper into their lives. And the murder mystery kept building throughout the narrative, letting you believe you knew what was going on, until she flips it on you with shocking twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat, turning page after page.
Another home run for Megan Miranda. A joy to read, and I can’t wait for what she brings us next!
I actually would say 3.5. It was a solid story but seemed so meandering if you can understand that. It tied together at the end but you’re taken on a trip until it does. I usually like Megan Miranda’s writing more, go figure🤷🏼♀️
I have always enjoyed Miranda's twist-filled page-turners, so I was excited to see that Such a Quiet Place seemed to fit a similar bill. The story was interesting, keeping you wondering "Did she or didn't she?" until the very end. It is slower-paced, but still an easy, quick, and enjoyable read. It doesn't bring anything groundbreaking to the genre, but I still liked it and would recommend it to those who enjoy a fun thriller. 3.5 stars.
I really liked this book. One of my favorites by this author. Kept my interest the whole book. Great mystery. Thank you
I really liked this. Pretty fast paced. Lots of twists and turns. Kept me hanging onto to the edge of my seat of who did it
I really enjoyed reading this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat and guessing until the end. Lots of twists and filled with suspense. It was a page turner for me and I felt the story and characters come alive. I stayed up late to finish this one - I had to know how it ended!
This one felt a little slower for me than the typical Megan Miranda, but that does not mean it lacks punch! Once I was in, I was so dang IN!!! Extra points for a well known/close knit neighborhood like my own, totally giving me the creeps!
I really enjoyed this one! Miranda does a great job with adding women and women’s complicated friendship relationships to suspense fiction. This book was almost like a close room mystery—can you have a closed street mystery? Everyone was in everyone else’s business but still murder was afoot. I felt like the ending has some legitimate surprises in it which I appreciated. A rarity!
Such a Quiet Place by Megan Miranda is a slow-paced, more relaxed murder mystery / psychological thriller. We are introduced into a very small neighborhood community where seemingly everyone and everything is perfect, despite the deaths of two members, over a year earlier. Everyone is back to living their “normal” lives but the accused murderer is released from prison and comes back into the community. From there, all hell breaks lose and things start falling apart.
This book had very meager characters that were just boring enough to throw you off. You could tell something was wrong, but didn’t necessarily know who was behind everything. I enjoyed the pace of this book, the character and the glimpse into a private community in which looks can be deceiving.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you so much to Simon and Schuster and Megan Miranda for my ARC of Such a Quiet Place. I loved Miranda’s last book, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one. There is just something about her writing that draws you in from the very first page. This book was about Harper, a woman who lives in a quiet community near a lake. Her neighbors are also her colleagues at the college nearby, and everything seems idyllic until the couple next door is murdered. When Harper’s roommate is convicted, she tries to move on.
14 months later, Ruby is released after evidence shows it may not have been her who committed the murders. When Ruby shows up at Harper’s door acting like nothing ever happened, Harper isn’t sure what to think. Harper starts getting threatening notes and suspicion is back all over the neighborhood. The neighborhood watch starts back up, hoping to prevent future crimes, but they might just be too late.
Thoughts: As always, I love Miranda’s writing. It is so easy to follow and interesting to read. I liked the character of Harper and connected with her immediately. The setting was intriguing, especially that most of the neighborhood worked at the same college. There were lots of interesting characters and it was a fun domestic thriller. I wanted more from the ending, but it was still satisfying, if a bit predictable. It definitely has an eerie feeling and you don’t know who to trust, which is always a great feeling in a story. 4-stars for this solid thriller, and as always, I am a big fan!
A HOA horror story like never before. Miranda’s newest thriller takes you to a wonderful community but you know immediately that something lurks within the walls of this picture perfect neighborhood and you can never let your guard down.
This book caught my attention immediately. Previously convicted murderer Ruby returns to idyllic neighborhood and scene of the crime without notice, explanation or belongings. She assumes her way back into the homes and lives of Hollows Edge having been released from jail on a technicality. Did she murder the couple next door to Harper, her roommate? Midway through I got bored waiting for something to come to light and I trudged thru a few chapters. Finally I got my wish and the twists and turns started. I was then able to finish the book in one night!
Thank you to NetGalley Megan Miranda and Simon and Schuster for this advance copy
