Megan Miranda has quickly become an auto-buy author for me, so I didn't want to wait too long to read her newest - Such a Quiet Place. I'm glad I didn't because this was one twisty and addicting read! I always love books set in a small community and Hollow’s Edge is exactly that. Everyone knows everyone in this neighborhood, and there is plenty of drama and suspicion to go around. I suspected everyone and even thought of Harper as an unreliable narrator. Ruby and Harper were both interesting characters in their own right, and I'm still not sure if I liked either of them that much but never fear because that made them even more appealing to me. The whole book is told from Harper's viewpoint with snippets of posts from the neighborhood community page thrown in. I loved that we got a taste of that in the novel, and it also helped to up the suspense at different times as well.

As with Miranda's last book, I listened to the audio and really enjoyed it! It is narrated by Rebekkah Ross who I've had the pleasure of listening to a few times now (she also narrated The Girl from Widow Hills) and she did just as great a job with this one. She was the perfect person to be the voice of Harper and I always enjoy listening to her no matter what she narrates. It took me a couple of days to get through the book but only because of time constraints, and I was listening to it every chance I got. Such a Quiet Place hooked me from the first page and I really wish I could have finished it in one sitting. I love the way Miranda's writing sucks the reader in, and this is a bit of suspense, thriller, mystery, and neighborhood drama all in one. I was really shocked by almost all of the twists and didn't see a single one of them coming. It was a bit of a slower burn for much of the book, but things really picked up at the end and then there was no WAY I was stopping until I finished. I highly recommend Such a Quiet Place to fans of Miranda and anyone who likes a good neighborhood drama with some mystery!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Such a Quiet Place is about the town of Hollow's Edge. It was a very quiet place until two of their own were murdered! And now Ruby - who was convicted of the murders and was supposed to serve 20 years - is back in town. Megan Miranda does it again with a book that will keep you guessing because there is no one who you can really trust in this story. Especially your neighbors! A real page turner!

This domestic thriller gripped me from page one, and I didn’t want the story to end!

While Hollow’s Edge seemed to be the ideal neighborhood to live in what lies beneath has everyone fooled. This is a community. They have pool parties, morning coffees and celebrate babies and birthdays. Everyone knows everyone. Everyone looks out for each each other. All is well until a family ends up dead and one of Hollow’s Edge residents seems guilty.

Ruby Fletcher is accused, serves (some) time and is released. Now she’s back Hollow’s Edge to prove her innocence. Murder, secrets, family, and community plague the community. Is Ruby innocent? Is there still a killer on the loose?

This was so good! It was the perfect thriller. I couldn’t put this one down. The twists and turns were really excellent.

Hollows Edge seems like the perfect place to live, a place where neighbors know one another and can count on each other. For me, it’s definitely a place I would be interested in. A quiet, no nonsense place to live in peace.

Sometimes things aren’t as picturesque as we think they are. This story is an example of that. Sometimes things happen that are just unexplainable and sometimes we jump the gun but, you truly never know.

I really enjoyed this novel. It read easily, the characters were easy to keep up with and the story was well defined. I would have maybe liked more of the backstory but, I thought it flowed well in spite.

Megan is truly a great author and I’m adding more of her books to my to be read list. Thank you to Simon & Schuster, NetGalley and Megan for the advanced readers copy!

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book! I was hooked from the beginning and then it slowed down for me. I enjoyed this book, but I felt it lacked something that I cannot quite put my finger on. I wanted to love it, so I was a little disappointed. In the end, I was also confused and am still not totally sure what happened exactly or what the point was...not really sure what else to say! Thank you again to NetGalley for an ARC of this book!

To say that I’m not a big fan of domestic thrillers would be an understatement, but I’ve repeatedly made an exception for Megan Miranda, both because she writes far better than most in the genre and because she mostly stays away from their deeply unappealing common tropes of either icky sexual (often assault-related) content or petty suburban women sniping behind each other’s backs.

This one unfortunately veers off into the later of the two, and as a result I didn’t like it as well as many of Miranda’s previous novels. This book also uses one of my least favorite murder mystery tropes in its solve, though to Miranda’s credit, she delivered it better than most.

No complaints about the pacing, which was excellent, or the nuts and bolts of the mystery, which was well-constructed and enjoyable. Despite my disappointment in Miranda’s choice to focus on silly suburban squabbling this time, she does again demonstrate that she is a master at story construction.

Petty infighting amongst women in the suburbs is never going to be a topic of interest for me., and as good as Miranda is at many aspects of crafting a mystery/thriller, she couldn’t overcome the inane choice of subject matter.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy!

Unfortunately, this was a DNF for me. I have just read too many 'thrillers' taking place in rich neighborhoods lately.

Hollow’s Edge used to be the ideal neighborhood to live in. Think everyone knows everyone. Everyone looks out for each other. Holidays, birthdays, graduations and other big events are celebrated together. It’s located next to the local college so most people even end up working together. Think suburban middle class, probably has an HOA that people love to hate. It was a tight knit community where everyone looked out for one another... was being the key word. Until the Truett’s end up dead and one of residents is the prime suspects.

A year and half after the murders Ruby Fletcher is released and she’s returned to the scene of the crime and she has vengeance on her mind. Once again Hollow’s Edge returns to being on edge. Who can be trusted and then the big EVENT happens!

I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone so I won’t go any further but wow I really enjoyed this book. There are far too many characters to go in depth on everyone so I’ll focus on Ruby and Harper. Harper came off as so naïve. She wanted to see the best in everyone. She didn’t quite stand her ground on anything and wasn’t assertive in any scenario she put herself in. There were so many situations I just wanted to hug her and protect her at all cost and also slap some common sense into her and tell her to open her eyes. Ruby, I hated everything about her character. Whether or not she was innocent to begin with was beside the point. She was blamed because of her own choices. She wanted to make everyone miserable and got off on causing chaos. She enjoyed drama and stirring the pot. 0/10.

Overall, I highly recommend this book. The first half is a little slow in the world building but without it the rest of the book just wouldn’t make sense and the rest of the book flies by. This was my first book by this author and I will definitely be going back and reading more of her books!

Touted as a contemporary update of the classic Agatha Christie sleepy village mystery where nothing bad happens (except for murder!), Megan Miranda's Such a Quiet Place does not disappoint. The author paints a picture of an ideal, small town village which is supposed to be a close knit, community oriented place. Of course, these picture perfect places are rarely what they seem as underneath them lies a hotbed of deception, secrets, and other unpleasantness. The town of Hollow's Edge is anything but quiet, which makes the book's title quite ironic.

The hornet's nest of Hollow Edge is stirred up when Ruby Fletcher, who had been sent to prison for the murder of two of the town's residents, returns to the community after her conviction is overturned. Ruby is out for revenge, and her mission is to uncover who really killed Brandon and Fiona Truett.

Ruby decides use her former roommate's house as her home base. Harper Nash isn't too thrilled about this as she isn't sure whether Ruby is guilty or not of the murders. But if Ruby isn't guilty, then that means someone else in the tight-knit community is a murderer, and who's to say that they won't kill again to protect their secret. This impels Harper to conduct her own investigation into the murders, which of course puts her own life into peril.

This book was quite entertaining. The suspense slowly builds and builds to its surprising conclusion. The ending truly jarred me, it left me feeling disquieted and unsettled. Excellent character development and plenty of red herrings make this an excellent choice for mystery lovers.

Hollows Edge is a peaceful private community where the neighbors are all friends. That was until a couple on the street was killed by carbon monoxide. The police arrested Ruby for the murder over a year ago. Well guess who comes back after her charges finally got thrown out. What are Ruby’s motives for even wanting to go back to a place where everyone pointed to her as the killer.

With multiple twists and turns this was a great thriller that delves into paranoia. A highly recommended.

I would have loved more of the backstory.

It has taken me WAY too long to read Megan Miranda, but I finally have now, and I can’t wait to go through her backlist! I met her at a book signing event a few years ago with Karen McManus, and they were both the sweetest!!

I read Such a Quiet Place with the LoveARCtually book club this summer, always a great time! Many thanks to Simon & Schuster for the gifted review copy!!

Such a Quiet Place was a classic and twisty whodunnit story of neighbors looking to protect each other and, more importantly, themselves. When crime strikes the Hollow’s Edge neighborhood, lies, scandal, and threats all come to light. I don’t want to give too much away, but I definitely recommend this read if you’re looking for a slow-burn, gossipy neighborhood thriller!

I’m not a fan of the authors books and this was one of them. Didn’t like the characters or the plot either. Not sure why I ended up reading it. I guess it was the hype.

Small town suspense is intriguing to me. Such a Quiet Place is exactly that a small-town suspense. I found the start to be slow which surprised me as it isn’t usually the case with Megan Miranda novels. I stayed the course and things did pick up.

I enjoyed this story but didn’t love it like I do others by this author. I really felt I needed understand better why everyone turned on Ruby. That threw me and I don’t think I fully recovered. In the end this one fell flat for me.

Such A Quiet Place by Megan Miranda

Welcome to Hollow’s Edge, where’s your can find secrets, scandal, and a suspected killer - all on one street.

This was an interesting mystery. Instead of having one person involved in a murder, there was a whole neighborhood. Were they right about who they suspected or had they incriminated her by rumors? I enjoyed this book.

Thanks to Net Galley for sending me an advanced reader’s copy for my review.

This book had everything I look for in a psychological thriller. It was fast paced with just the right amount of mystery and characters that were somewhat relatable. I could not put this book down, I wanted to keep going to find out who the culprit was. Megan Miranda hit it out of the park on this one!

This was a four star read for me, based on the entire book. I say that because the first half of the book was slow for me & I didn’t see myself finishing it. But I persevered and the second half made up for it. A double murder in a local neighborhood. Nothing ever happens here, yet alone murder. But one of the local girls is attached to it and the neighbors all seem to point their finger towards her. Her roommate is not sure what to think, but deep down she doesn’t believe her friend could be filth.. but she follows the lead of the neighbors. Such a Quiet Place, is filled with personal issues, dark secrets, broken relationships. Not one neighbor is an angel and when Ruby comes back to town, after being released from prison, the towns people all speculate why did she come back? Would a murderer come back? So many twists and turns at the end. I kept reading just to see what happens.. the writing was very good and the story was good.. i want to thank Netgalley & Megan Miranda for my copy for an honest review. It is always such a pleasure to read thriller.. I hope you enjoy it!!!
