Flex: Reinventing Work for a Smarter, Happier Life by Annie Auerbach is an interesting resource on work-life balance.

I found the content to be very interesting and worthwhile. The author touches on the outdated 8 hour a day, 5 day workweek, as well as tips in finding flexibility. I look forward to bringing some of the ideas to my place of work.

Overall, I thought this was interesting and had some good information.

I'm so grateful to Annie Auerbach, HarperOne, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.

As a college student who is unsure how to manage the work-life balance after graduation, this book was truly insightful with the real life stories Auerbach details. It promotes flexibility as key to reaching this goal, which is something we can all generally conclude but Auerbach evidences incredibly well. I will definitely be referencing this book in the future after graduation.

Could there be a more perfect moment for Annie Auerbach's new book? FLEX walks us through strategies to make our work-from-home lives more productive and more effective. As someone who has worked from home since 2016, long before the pandemic, I still found new ideas and new inspiration within the pages of Auerbach's book. I think it will be an especially valuable resource for those in the midst of challenging transition in the world of work today.

I enjoyed this book, but I won't lie, I thought there would be more content about flexing at work or career. The other sections were nice but I was really drawn to the work information and wish that has comprised more of the book.

This book broaches the exact topic I have been wondering about over and over again: why are we all wedded to the eight-to-five work day (she says nine, but I don't know any work place that starts at 9), five days a week. And yet, even with the changes of this world, employees are still expecting strict rules of fixed, long hours. Why? The author speaks of this, among many other things. She speaks of presenteeism—being present at your work for such and such times—leading to overworking, exhaustion, and burnout, among many other things. It makes no sense, but it continues to happen in this day and age. And how overwork has actually led to less productivity and more stress. And yet, during all this work, how many of us have job security? And although the book has a lot of great points, many employers will not offer flexibility to their employees. Sure, she offers suggestions on that, but a lot of her facts are based on the UK and likely won’t change many employer’s minds here in America (I know from experience). And also, unfortunately, the stigma to working flexibly still remains and this book offers a few insights or suggestions on how to change that might help, but not for every industry and it's pretty basic. She has a lot of great insight, and I think every employer should read this book to learn the benefits of flexibility in work.

Thank you Netgalley and Harper Collins for the chance to read an advanced copy of Flex in exchange for my review.

Flex by Annie Auerbach is a quick read, less than 100 pages. It goes to describe that typical 9-to-5 jobs are not conducive in today's world. That companies, and mainly ourselves, need to be more flexible. This concept works but obviously not for everyone. However there are many good points and tips jammed in this quick read. I'd recommend this for all those stuck in a less than satisfying working environment.

The book fell flat for me. I understand the concepts the author was trying to make, but I feel the lens was limited. I feel like it mainly spoke to just corporate-job, heterosexual woman. I think more variety of working and lifestyle situations would have benefitted the book.

"Flexing" is different from multi-tasking, which is usually a bad idea. While the subtitle suggests that this is a business book only, Annie Auerbach shares ideas in this little book about how to flex your work life, your home life, and your online life to make a more fulfilling life in which you are more creative and genuinely productive.

Is your life really working for you? Can you make it work for you? What kinds of arrangements to you need to mix up, mashup, flex up in order to make this happen? What myths need challenging or busting? Do you need to rebel? What about your use of technology? Technology can either serve you or it can bog you down. Plenty of suggestions and inspiration between these covers for tuning in to some solutions and implementing them.

Thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins for a free dARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I think this book restated what most of us know. The 9-5 hours at work don't work for many of us. How much better would it be if we could gauge our own productivity and work when we can achieve the most. Thanks to Harper One and NetGalley for the ARC.

A timely book about balance and flex in your life. This especially is helpful for working Mom’s and would be a great book to share with a coworker, friend, sister or baby shower gift.

This gives practical tips and ideas for health ( mental and physical) and how to successfully manage your life.

I’m a self help book junkie and this fit the bill!

I was interested in the flexibility aspect of the title. The book had more to do with having "flex time" at work and at home and with your health etc etc.
