Oh yea, super hot and steamy...loved this particular trope and the cover definitely caught my eye. Looking forward to reading more from Leslie North.
Fiona's parents died leaving Bashar as guardian who was the King of Al-Mifadhir. Fiona had to choose a man to marry, otherwise, she won't inherit anything her father left her. So she had no choice but to go with him. Later, she met Edlyn, Bas's sister. Bas lashed out at Fiona for something and later when he tried to make it up to her, he made matters more complicated. Bas and Fiona both attracted to one another and finally they surrendered themselves to their attraction which lead to more complication. When it was time for Bas to choose between duty and love, he chose duty. Then things happened and Bas realized his mistakes and apologized and proposed to her. They finally got married. Phew!
The Sheikh King's Ward Halabi Sheikh 1 by Leslie North
King Bashir has been made guardian of one of his family’s oldest friend’s daughter upon his death. When he goes to collect Fiona to take her to the royal palace he gets a shock as she is not a child but a woman of 27 and he must find her a husband to marry before her 28th birthday or she’ll loose her inheritance.
A well written book but rather predictable.
A quick read if you just want loose yourself in a quick read but not much depth in it this is for you.
Bashar arrives to take Fiona back to the palace because her father had made him her guardian. According to her father's will she must marry before her 28th birthday in order to get her inheritance. Bashar takes his role seriously and keeps presenting her to likely suitors. Soon he finds that he wishes he could be the one for her.
The Sheikh King's Ward by Leslie North is about King Bashar being willed to watch over Fiona until her 28th birthday. Her parents died and as King he must fulfil their wishes as outlined in their will. He is to find her a husband or she will loss everything. When he finally went to pick her up he was surprised to fine she was 27 years old, almost 28. They have an immediate connection, but he can't forget what he must do. King Bas takes his duties very serious...but can he see past his duties for true love?

First in this newest series and this is a good read, however does anyone but me think these sheikh stories are all basically the same? The story is enjoyable but the same ol, same ol. A quick romance, angst, drama and steam abound. If you love these books, add this one to your TBR list.
This book was okay. The romance was nice and the way it flowed wonderful, but otherwise it was obnoxiously unrealistic. I was annoyed half the time and the rest, just kind of complacent. It didn’t give off that authentic feel. Honestly the characters talked more like American business partners than a sheikh and his subjects. That part was a let down since, why read a romance about a sheikh if he just feels like someone heading to a board meeting, we never see him do anything real as far as governing, or even really detail much of anything about how these people look, dress, or what they do. In fact they all just kind of exist in a very undetailed limbo world. It was mildly entertaining but I don’t think I’ll be back for more.
3.5 stars
I enjoyed this short read by Leslie North about a Sheikh (this was my first Sheikh book by her). Bas has recently inherited the role of king after his father passed away. Shortly before his dad passed away, his dad's friend also passed away. This friend named the king's father as the guardian of his daughter (even though she technically didn't need a guardian because she was 27 years old). But the will specifically stated that she had to be engaged by the time she turned 28 and then she had to be married within a month after her birthday. If neither of these came true, then she forfeited her inheritance from her parents. So the new king (barely older than her) takes it upon himself to find her a suitable husband. But he didn't expect to want her for himself although he knows he can't have her because he is technically her guardian and that would be taboo. Can he find her the perfect husband allowing her to keep her inheiretance?
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions stated above are mine without biases.
4.25/5 stars!
In a fictitious desert kingdom, the heroine ends up being the ward of the hero, the ruler of said kingdom. There was instant chemistry between them, but the rules dictated that the guardian has to find a suitor for the ward. Even as the hero followed the rules, the pull the two felt for each other is too strong and the two succumbed and they must face the consequences of their actions.
I found the book delightful to read. There was this positive vibe throughout the book and the couple were not giving me any negative vibes. I didn't mind the tropes used in this story nor did I feel that the story needed to be longer; though my personal preference would be more details for some transition that happened in the story. Overall, an enjoyable book and I look forward to reading more Leslie North books in the future.

Is this a joke? This was really not worth it. At least it didn't take me more than 1,5 hours to get through the book. Boy oh boy, the characters were flat, the storyline was uninteresting, the writing was decent but very telling and no showing. This was a really bad book... 1,5 stars for this one.
The Sheikh King’s Ward is an pleasable easy read,
storyline is written nicely and without visible „holes” innit which makes it good to immerse with characters and the plot.
Would reccomend :)
Fiona’s father has one last controlling act in his will, she is made ward to Bas the king and she has to marry before her 28th birthday or lose all her inheritance. Fiona and Bas fall in love but rules are rules to Bas and he insists on finding her a husband. I did enjoy the descriptions of her suitors but felt the story just wasn’t plausible enough for me.
Who'd think if a 27 year old woman needing a guardian? The Sheikh King's Ward, is all about rules and propriety. Get Bas, the King, away from watching eyes and he's a different man around Fiona. A wonderful happy ending.
