I always appreciate reading a Tilly Tennant book. Her books are so descriptive I can perfectly imagine the scenes playing out.
Oleander House in the Somerset village of Astercombe, sounds so delightful with its lush green fields filled with buzzing bees, charming little animals and a vineyard with the delicious scent of fresh apples.
When adopted at birth Posy excitedly reunites with her birth family, she isn't sure how they'll take to her. There's a bit of drama as there always in these rom coms but the story is so heartwarming. A great distraction and comfort read the cider farm sounds like one I'd like to visit.
Next door to the farm we meet Mr. Grumpy, Posy accidently wanders onto to his land out walking one day. A grumpy meets sunshine story this was a fun read with strong family connections.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
All opinions expressed are my own.
As with all Tilly Tennant books, I found myself captivated from the start!. The story is just delightful and leaves you feeling warm inside. The characters are, as always, brought to life perfectly by Tilly and you find yourself engrossed in their lives until the very last page.
I adored this book!
This was a lovely little read. The typical boy meets girl but it wasn’t solely based around that and, for once, that was very refreshing, It’s very much a story about family and I really enjoyed how everyone came together and how all the characters developed meaningful relationships.
Tilly Tennant books are always a pure escape and this is no different. Sitting in the peaceful garden, sun shining and cider in hand was all perfect companions for reading this book. I felt transported to Somerset and surrounded by lovely characters whom were interesting to read about. There is a great sense of family and following your heart in this book. Would recommend.
Thanks to Netgalley for the e book copy.
I loved every page of this cozy romance. Tilly Tennant always has the perfect amount of mystery and romance in every book she write. This one did not disappoint. Loved it.
Great characters and setting ...believable characters ...unique story line - I think I many readers will identify with a character
Good story!
Description
Feel the sun on your face on a Somerset terrace overlooking golden fields and wild meadowland, and watch as romance beckons and long-hidden secrets are revealed…
When twenty-seven-year-old Posy arrives at picture-perfect Oleander House in the Somerset village of Astercombe, she is enchanted. Adopted when she was just a baby, Posy is excited to re-connect with her birth family and help out on the family cider farm with its old stone walls and bees buzzing in the hedgerows.
There’s just one tiny problem – her new next-door neighbour, haughty, handsome vineyard-owner Lachlan. Lachlan has taken an instant dislike to Posy, and after a furious argument when she ventures on his land, she’s pretty certain there’s not a heart of gold beneath his frosty exterior.
Yet as she falls in love with the flower-filled hedgerows and apple-green fields of her new life, she discovers more about her grumpy neighbour. Even though he acts like the world is out to get him, she can’t ignore the sad expression in his dark eyes.
And when Posy discovers the heartbreaking secret that is tearing Lachlan apart, she understands why he has shut the door on the world and vows to help him, as well as the vineyard, which has fallen on hard times. Yet just as Lachlan lets Posy in, a terrible night threatens to destroy everything she has begun to care about and puts someone she loves at risk. Will her dream life in the country come at an awful price?
Love tillys books and characters and this one didn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed this one. Kept me reading and I finished it all in one sitting, tilly is a great writer and has wonderful detailing of characters and environments
Another lovely book by Tilly Tennant set in the picturesque country village of Astercombe where Posy goes to find her birth family. Great characters, storyline and romance make this a lovely cosy read that you don't want to put down
The stories Tilly Tennant writes are always in picturesque villages. That is certainly the case with this book, with the village of Astercombe. So, when Posy arrives there, she is enchanted, drawn in by the beautiful area. However, that is not her only draw. Posy wants to reconnect with her past. She wants to filling in some missing pieces of her life. Posy is looking for her birth family and she thinks the answers lie there in Astercombe.
Agreeing to help working on a cider farm affords Posy the opportunity to meet a lot of different people, and she is not afraid to ask questions that might pertain to her bith family. Everyone is nice, kind and helpful with the exception of her new next-door neighbor Lachlan. He just might be the only one not as excited as Posy to unravel the past. In fact, he makes his disdain for Posy and her many, many questions perfectly clear. In fact, this phrase comes to mind: bubbly Posy and broody Lachlan.
With likable characters (Lachlan has to come around, doesn't he?), an engaging plot, a lovely setting and a touching ending all play together to make this an enjoyable read.
Many thanks to Bookoture and to NetGalley for this ARC to review. This is my honest opinion.
This was such a heartwarming tale of family, secrets, hope and love. The writing is very good and will wring emotions from the reader.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Tilly Tennant books are great to curl up to and get lost in
Another well written book
Definitely recommend this book
Thanks NetGalley
I’m a pretty big fan of Tilly’s books, have read a fair few of them now, and for the most part they all hit the spot for being wonderful lovely enjoyable and entertaining stories from start to finish. The only issue I had with this one, is that it was slow and drawn out in paces especially at the beginning, but once past the half way point in the story, things started to pick up.
I thought the setting of the story sounded lovely and picturesque, and I really enjoyed getting to know all of the characters especially Posy, Carmel and Asa. Although truth be told, I did think that Posy was far to nosy for her own good, expecting to be told everyone secrets/past/gossip and yet not telling anyone her life story etc.
But despite that, it was still fun and enjoyable read, had all the usual emotions, action and sentiments one expects from a story written by the lovely Tilly.
So if your after a light-hearted easy read then be sure to give this a go. I can also highly recommend it if you are a fan of Jill Mansell, Holly Martin or Carole Matthews books.
This is the second book I have read by Tilly Tennant, the first being Cathy's Christmas Kitchen. While Cathy's Christmas Kitchen gave me Christmasy vibes, The Little Orchard on the Lane gave me proper summer vibes. The lush descriptions of the village of Astercombe in Somerset, the orchard surrounding Oleander House, the neighbouring vineyard which belongs to our brooding hero Lachlan and the entire countryside makes the whole place sound heavenly and a perfect getaway for a longish vacation. While the setting is beautifully described, I was a bit let down by the characters' development and the love story between the MCs Posy and Lachlan felt a bit rushed. Hence, although I liked the book it wasn't as much as I liked Cathy's Christmas Kitchen. I am still looking forward to reading the author's previous books and more of her future ones. I have also noticed that the cover designs for all her books are vibrant, colourful and just great to look at and admire 😍.
My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture and the author for the e-Arc of the book.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐✨💫
Nosy Posy. That's what I thought of the main character. Someone who didn't mind her own business and was always fishing for information about others; namely Lachlan. Posy irked me to no end, so much so that I almost gave up reading this book.
Overall, the book was just okay for me. I really liked the setting and Asa but there was a lack of character development for everyone else. Firstly, Sandra and Giles who just seemed to be by-standers. There was Jackson, who after meeting Posy twice, suddenly became a demanding boyfriend who always seemed to complain about not seeing her. Then there was Lachlan, rude, anti social Lachlan who becomes Posy's love interest after having a couple of brief encounters with him. Had Lachlan softened his stance towards Posy a little earlier on, and had there been more interactions, the relationship would have been justifiable. But there was no getting to know each other and no significant conversations until right at the end.
Fresh starts, countryside, old families and new families.
When Posy travels to Somerset to meet the family she didn't know existed she ended up with more than she bargained for.
After reading a few tough storylines, this gem was a nice light hearted, feel good read that kept me turning the pages to see what would happen for Posy and her neighbour. You must do yourself a favour and have some time out to enjoy this novel.
Posy has her life turned upside down when she learns that she has family in Somerset. Her adopted mum goes with her to meet them and they stay in a wonderful bed and breakfast. This is a lovely book exploring friendships, new family relationships to forge, romance, cider making and her strong family ties with her adopted parents.
The setting is so strong that you can really imagine working in the orchards and sitting down chetting to the owner of the b&b.
A wonderful read.
This was just an ok read. The main character should have been called nosy posy. All she did was nose around into other peoples private business and then sulk if they didn’t share anything with her. But heaven forbid she share her actual feelings with them.
The names in this book were just too over the top as well. Bunch of ridiculous names.
The setting was nice but the end action and wrap up felt forced and strange. The love story did not work out for me at all. If I were introduced to posy I’d run fast and far away.
The Little Orchard on the Lane by Tilly Tennant is a cute hate to love romance that I enjoyed. Posy is connecting to her birth family by helping out at the cider farm and getting to know her brothers. While walking one day, she got lost and ended up on their neighbors land. He is very angry and lets her know it. I found this book to be a quick and fun read, perfect for an escape. I recommend this book, and will be looking to read more books by this author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
