27 year old Posy is contacted about her biological Grandma’s will, so she heads to Oleander House in Summerset with her adoptive Mum for a meeting with Uncles that never knew she existed.
Will this be an opportunity for Posy to understand more about why she was put up for adoption and get many other questions answered?
Both Posy and her mum Sandra get on well with their new found family and make good friends in the village, with exception to the vineyard owner Lachlan, a grumpy, bad mannered man who makes his dislike of Posy clear from the start.
But maybe things aren’t quite as they seem…….
Brought up in London, Posy discovers a real love for the countryside and the more laid back, relaxing lifestyle it has to offer.
An easy, light read that I couldn’t put down! I read it in a day and enjoyed it immensely! This book has great assortment of likeable characters and its such a feel good story!
Have been a previous reader of Tilly Tennant, and this was another great read from her. I really enjoyed posy's story, while yes its a love story but its also more than that finding her place finding herself and her family.
It was a really light east read, that i certainly enjoyed.
Thank you NetGalley, Tilly Tennant and Bookouture for the ARC of The Little Orchard on the Lane. This is my personal review.
This is a story of Posy knowing she was adopted but she knows nothing about her birth mother.
The story is about Posy not wanting to hurt the parents who adopted her but wanting about where she came from.
The story line was ok, but it was a little slow going for me at times. I liked the characters but did not feel a connection with them.
I have read many other books by author Tilly Tennant and have loved many but for me this was not one that will stay with me.
The Little Orchard on the Lane is a heart-warming story of finding oneself, family and love. This is a feel-good book that ensures the reader will experience every single emotion along with the characters. The story introduces us to Posy, a well mannered girl who has everything she could ever hope for. She has wonderful parents, a great friend and a job that she enjoys for the moment. When she suddenly finds out that she has two uncles who live in Somerset and own a farm, her world as she knows it is turned upside down.
Posy sets out to meet them along with her adoptive mother who supports her throughout this. What ensues is an amazing journey for everyone. I loved how Posy handles her meeting with her relatives and then forms bonds with each one of them. Her mother is wonderful and I adored her character. The author has done a wonderful job with the setting and the plot line, giving us a glimpse into everyone's thought process, fears and then the love that develops only with family even if you've known them for a short time only.
One of my favorite characters apart from Posy is Asa, her fun loving uncle who is dealing with his own demons. Brought together, this uncle-niece duo is unstoppable and share an enviable bond. Posy also starts to form feelings for Lachlan, who owns the neighboring vineyard and who is not very amenable to company. As Posy works to break down barriers not just with her family but with Lachlan, we are treated to a wonderful story filled with so much love and togetherness. I adored this story and enjoyed it so much! This is a pleasant read and is perfect for a summer getaway!
I'm sorry but within six days of reading this, I only got to 40% and gave up. Usually it takes me 2 to 3 days to read a book. I couldn't get into this story. It keeps dragging on and nothing exciting is happening. I will be removing this from my Goodreads.
This was such a cute light read. If you are looking for a refreshingly happy read, pick this one up. Posy, who was adopted as a young child, finds out she has family that she didn't know about after her birth mother and grandmother pass away. She sets off with her adopted mother to Oleander House, where she meets her uncles and so many others that she will hold near and dear to her heart.
They tell her what happened with her mother and birth father and why she was given up and learning the truth helps Posy to understand. On her visit there, she wanders off into the property next door and has an awkward encounter with its surely owner.
Lachlan is the owner of the vineyard next door to Oleander House and what he doesn't need is the new guest wandering onto his property making his life harder than it already is. He keeps to himself and has no time for nonsense. When Posy comes to stay for the summer and wants to help him, will he be able to say no?
I expected this book to be an enemies to lovers romance with a lot of banter and that wasn't really the case here so I set myself up for my own downfall with this one. It was about family and about taking chances. If you are a fan of light, very heartwarmning reads, pick this book up! Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture and the author for an early copy.
I have read and enjoyed a lot of Tilly's previous books. This book is a nice, easy going Summer read. The location in Somerset is idyllic, although despite the title, we read very little about the Orchard and Cider making.
This book begins with Posy who was adopted as a baby. She finds out that she has two blood relative Uncles who run a Cider making orchard in Somerset. She visits with her adopted Mother Carmen, and decides to get to know her newly discovered relatives.
I like the characters in the book, although I thought that Posy could be a bit too nosy at times, and keep digging for information when she had already been told no.
This book seemed to be a little short, and there wasn't enough detail in the various storylines, the romances, getting to know family, Oleander House, the harvesting all seemed to be a little rushed. In my opinion it would have been better to leave the storyline of Jackson out, and concentrate on the other characters more.
I did enjoy reading this book though, it was an enjoyable holiday escapism. I am looking for to reading Tilly Tennant's next book.
Posy always knew she was adopted but didn’t know (or really have that itch) to know much more – until the letter arrived introducing her to a whole new series of family connections, she had been unaware of. Of course, that led to more questions and concerns for her: most of all the knowledge that the remaining family (2 uncles) didn’t know of her existence until the death of their mother. She’s worried that her own adoptive parents will be hurt by her curiosity, or think she’s wanting to replace them: and she’s unsure just what her newly found family will think of her appearance.
Not wanting anything from them, she discovers that her uncles, Giles and Asa are suitably withdrawn, if overtly politely welcoming, but Posy is enchanted by the little village – so different from her own home, and the chance encounter with a very naked and very angry neighbor won’t leave her mind.
What happens is the kindness and genuine joy that encompasses Posy’s every move is highlighted here: curiosity and her own freedom as she decides on her next career move leads her to stay with Asa in the annexe, ostensibly to project manage a redo. Of course, with familiarity, the family starts to see Posy as an important (and welcomed) addition, and she’s able to gain some answers about her mother (long gone) and her grandmother, and finally feel more like the ‘other kids’ she knew growing up – with family that isn’t simply your Mum and Dad. Tennant uses the multiple issues that adoptees experience with finding birth families and unearthing questions that may well be without answer and gives us insight into Posy’s ability to roll those changes and knowledge into her own searches for her own happiness and next step. With plenty of friendship, love and lots of moments to smile – this is a prototypical book from Tilly Tennant – with happiness, joy, emotional and love all on display – with answers coming from actual moments and thought – not just coincidentally placed after the first moments. It is a wonderful escape into the Somerset countryside with lots to love and enjoy.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

The book was OK. I enjoyed it it, but it wasn't my favorite by the author. Nothing much happens throughout most of the book and the story moves incredibly slow. Posy has the same conversations with everyone and it gets rehashed over and over. Most of the book is Posy talking about Lachlan, asking the same questions about him and then talking about him some more and of course asking the same questions even though she already knows the answers. I though the book was going to be more about Posy working at the orchard and getting to know her uncles. Sandra and Giles are still a mystery to me. I find it funny that Posy loved Lachlan after speaking maybe five words to him, plus in all their interactions Lachlan was always rude. Jackson was probably the most annoying character in the book. He dated Posy for a few days before she left for Somerset, but acted like they have been together for years. He was too needy and whiny. The description of Somerset and Karen's B&B sounded like a beautiful place to visit. I loved the relationship between Posy and Asa.
Give the book a try. Look forward to reading more books by the author. The book cover is cute and because of them, I can never resist reading the author's books.

Posy, adopted at birth, finds herself in Somerset connecting with family she didn't know she had. Really enjoyed this book - the descriptive narrative made me feel I was actually in the countryside with them and it seems like such a beautiful part of the world. The characters are engaging and the story just breezed along far too quickly! This is one of those books that I wanted to finish but that I didn't want to finish because then I'd have to leave.
Really enjoyable read. This one was a really quick read for me. I read it in kne sitting. Sweet and fun. Just what I needed. 3.5 stars
I really enjoyed this story. As a huge fan of Tully Tennant books this one is up there with her best for me. I really enjoyed that it wasn’t just a romance story but had so much going for it such as Posy finding her family and finding herself along the way. I wasn’t a huge fan of Lachlan to begin with but I must say by the end I adored him!
Perfect summery story that is the perfect escapism we are all craving.
Another great read from Tilly Tennant. The Little Orchard on the Lane is not your typical romance novel, since Posy and Lachlan have barely exchanged more than a few words nearly two thirds of the way through the book. This book is more about finding family and finding yourself in the process.
In the author's note at the end of this book the author says that working on this through the second half of 2020 was "a welcome distraction and a lovely escape from the miserable news reports" and guess what, reading it in 2021 has been a welcome distraction and a lovely escape from the miserable news reports too!
Tilly Tennant has become one of my to go authors when in need of some light and uplifting stories that make you forget about all the negative things around.
I loved how this time the story was not mainly centered in the romance part but in Posy's need of learning about her origins while trying to establish a relationship with her newly found family. I loved how she included her adoptive mum in the process and her camaraderie with Asa made me smile more than once.
I completely understand Posy when, after just one visit to her family's place, she wanted to move there. I would to! The gorgeous descriptions and all the lovely folks around (even the grouchy one) would have had me packing my cases in an eye blink too!
Without going into spoilers I'll say that I really liked the ending because of Posy's final decision.
Quick and easy heartwarming story about second chances and new beginnings while trying to find your place in life.

Posy, twenty seven was adopted at birth. Excited at connecting with the family she didn’t think she had, she arrives at Oleander House in the village of Astercombe. She loves the house and the surrounding area.
But there’s a problem, in the form of her next door neighbour, Lachlan, whose taken an dislike to her after he sees her on his land. But Posy seems to think that he’s got a soft heart beneath the angry exterior.
So when she finds out why he’s like he is, she begins to try and help him with his vineyard which he’s struggling to manage. But just as she’s beginning to see a change in him, a terrible incident happens which destroys all that she’s starting to care about.
So, will Posy have to pay a heavy price for her dream living in the country?
Recommend It
Synopsis: A Little Orchard on the Lane follows interior designer Posy as she finds her long-lost biological family after a death in the family reveals who she is. She sets off to the countryside in the small town of Astercombe to start to get to know her uncles and visit the family orchard. When she stumbles into the handsome neighbour, Lachlan, on his land he immediately is angered by her presence in town. Posy tries to make amends and help him with his vineyard but as she does they begin to get closer and closer.
This story made me feel like I was wandering around the beautiful orchard and vineyard, the descriptions of scenery really were amazing! The characters were also very likable and this book overall is just a simple easy read perfect for the summertime. However, even though the story was good I didn't feel like there was enough character development for the love interest and there were some parts that seemed drawn out that didn't really add to the overall story. Overall this is a very nice story and if you're looking for a light summer read this would be a great choice.

This is the first book by Tilly Tennant that I've read but I don't think it'll be the last. The setting of the story was always beautifully described by the author and made it feel as if I too was in the countryside along with the characters. The story is slow paced which I think perfectly mimics the slower paced lifestyle of the country setting. This is a love story but it's also a story about a girl finding her family, herself and her place in the world. There wasn't a lot of steam to the love story but I'd recommend this book to anyone who loves a nice, feel good heart-warming story of family and love.
Apple Cider Summer is a glorious and wonderful novel, filled with some family drama, eccentric characters, a slow-burn romance and all of the most beautiful descriptions! Whilst the story focuses on leading lady, Posy, Tilly makes sure to provide strong story-lines for every other character as well, giving readers an insight to multiple stories throughout. I couldn't think of anything more lovely than moving to the countryside and owning an apple farm, creating the most delicious of ciders - it sounds like an absolute dream come true and with Tilly's descriptiveness, it is impossibly to not envision it for yourself. Posy was an admirable character and I absolutely adore the name. She was a character that brought so much warmth and kindness everywhere she went, even when there was certain people that were not so grateful to be in her company.
This is the perfect read for when Summer finally arrives and make sure you have an alcoholic beverage beside you, because you're going to be craving one before you know it!
Apple Cider Summer is a wonderful feelgood novel and I had an amazing time reading it. I would say that the books formula did stray away from the typical feelgood format that I usually expects to find. We did get to see our main character discovering her roots in a gorgeous setting that you would love to runaway to. But also, it had had a lot of different storylines. We got to see a lot of different aspects of our main characters life, and it was not as straight forward as I think it usually is in a lot of other feelgood books. We got to follow along in a lot of stories along the way on her journey to discover herself. It was not for example completely set on the countryside; you also get to see her London life. Because of these different storylines it was a bit of a slower read but the author does it so well, that I still was hooked throughout the book. The romance was not really a big part of the story, I personally would have liked it to be a tiny bit more incorporated into the book. The way it was now was not bad, but since it was mentioned in the book summary, I thought it would have a bit more focus. I would recommend this book to people who enjoys a feelgood stories that displays several aspects of the main characters life. If you want the story to progress very fast or a more romance heavy feelgood I would not recommend it.
Overall, I had a really great time reading the book and I really have to give so much credit to the authors writing and I very much look forward to discovering more book by her in the future.
The one thing that always stands out in a Tilly Tennant novel is the beautiful descriptions, I always feel like I am in the book.
Posy, after finding out she is adoptive, seeks out her birth family. She finds herself in the English countryside getting to know them and learning her family history. After an unexpected accident, Posy is suddenly rethinking her way of life. Perhaps city life is not really where she was meant to be.
Great, easy read.
