Thank you, NetGalley, for this ARC. I admit I enjoyed reading this book The story was intriguing, with short, straight to the point chapters from dual POV. I like how the author focused on Lauren and Adam, with developing those characters, while other (aside from Tracey) remained secondary. Despite small predictability it was quite a mystery - everyone could have been a culprit. The ending was bittersweet, but satisfactory. As for the writing itself, the story needs some editing, since I have found a couple of words missing (ex. chapter 44 - 'pretending to me', instead of 'pretending to be me'), but while it's work in progress it is forgiven. I recommend this book to all mystery lovers. 4 stars from me!
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one; I went into The Wedding by Ruth Heald not knowing the plot. I knew the author from another novel; I Know Your Secret. This novel captured my attention from the first chapter and I was hooked right up until the end.
I particularly enjoy books that keep the tension tight and make me wonder what will happen next!
Check it out:
I’ve been dreaming about this day – marrying Adam, my childhood sweetheart, who I’ve loved for eighteen years.
I didn’t realise the perfect day would turn into the perfect nightmare.
I was so excited to send out the wedding invitations, carefully writing everyone’s names on thick cream paper in beautiful cursive script.
I had no idea I was inviting someone to destroy our marriage.
I couldn’t wait to say ‘I do’ surrounded by loved ones clinking champagne glasses.
I couldn’t imagine that one of them would try to hurt me.
It was meant to be the first day of the rest of our lives.
I never thought it would be the end of my life as I knew it.
We were meant to share our vows, to toast our future. But when the truth comes out, shocking the onlooking guests and ripping my heart out, is a happy ever after possible?
Due out on March 3!
Lauren and Adam have been together for basically their whole adult lives. Their parents were best friends, so their lives have always been intertwined. Now, with only a month or two before their wedding, everything starts to unravel. Lauren gets an unsettling card in the mail with 4 simple, straightforward words in it: he doesn't love you. Who sent this card and what does it mean?
While I did enjoy this book, and read it quite quickly, I found it very predictable. I was hoping there would be another jaw dropping twist at the end, but it fell a bit flat for me. Not to say I wasn't entertained, but I wish I would have been wrong in my assumptions.
The writing style made this book easy to read. Each chapter switched from Lauren's POV to Adam's. The characters are likable, and they really had me rooting for them to come out on top in the end. I think you should read for yourself to see if they do.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy. All thoughts are my own.
Lauren and Adam have known each other for 18 years and now at last, they are finally getting married. They have known each other since teenagers when tragedy struck Lauren’s parents died in Thailand. Adam is perfect man for her.
Weeks for before the wedding day Lauren receives are card, which first thinks it’s a prank from one of Adam’s friends. The words written ‘Adam doesn’t love you’. At first, she dismisses it as it’s one of Adams friends, right? Bur other sinister things start to happen, and she fears that someone doesn’t want her to go through with the wedding. Even finding after losing her phone that someone has literally cancelled the wedding pretending to be her.
Thank you once again Bookouture for a copy of The Wedding by Ruth Heald. For me this was a tense thriller that kept me guessing who the culprit was throughout. It is one of them story that what you think you know turns out to be quite different in the end. The story is set in two timelines between Thailand in 2001 and present day. Are the things happening linking her to Lauren and Adam’s past? I did enjoy this but I the main characters of Lauren and Adam were not the most likable couple. 4 stars from me.
The Wedding tosses you right into the deep end with a suspenseful start on the very first page and continues with a great pace and building tension. A quick and easy read, I flew through it in no time.
Lauren and Adam have been friends since they were little kids and have gone through a lot over the years but now they're coming up to their dream wedding. As the magical day, meticulously planned by Lauren, draws near things start to be coming undone at the seams. Lauren has a stalker, getting creepier and scarier by the day and Adam keeps getting caught in lies. It gets so bad that Lauren questions whether getting married is even the right thing to do anymore.
My favourite part of this book is that every time I thought I knew who the villain something is revealed to make me second guess my suspicion. There are so many completely plausible options for who it might be! This book dropped little nuggets at the perfect pace to keep me totally engaged and flipping through the pages eagerly. The climax was a tad over-the-top but I still really enjoyed it!
I wanted this book as soon as I saw the cover, I was drawn to it and I, glad it grabbed hold of me as it was an amazing read. All throughout I thought I had then twist worked out, but the end twist really got me, such amazing writing and I’m looking forward to more of Ruth’s books.

Ahhh isn’t it just amazing when a book does exactly everything right!!!
I absolutely loved this book from start to finish; it does exactly what it says on the tin!
The plot is thrilling; it keeps you confused, guessing and constantly in the dark until the very end. Even when you thought you had worked something out, the plot very cleverly twists again showing that you don’t know anything at all!!!
The chapters are short and sweet, swapped perspectives, ending with small cliffhangers that made you race through the pages completely unable to put it down! This book was really one of those please just one more chapter!
The characters are typical of any thriller read, but they were engaging, relatable and work completely within the story and Lauren and Adam are the perfect narrators balancing the revealing of secrets with developments in the narrative.
At the end, the book comes together in a complete and satisfying conclusion. Although, this is very much a typical thriller, I found the way the author writes, how the plot was presented and overall story to be a very refreshing and enjoyable approach. I would definitely recommend reading this book when it’s released and I’ll be looking up this authors other books!!!

Ruth Heald has once again written a brilliant thriller that had me turning the pages well into the night.Adam and Lauren are getting ready for their dream wedding but is Adam hiding secrets from his past ? Lauren starts to have her doubts about the wedding when strange things start occur in their flat and on her hen night, the story is told with flashbacks to a family holiday in Thailand in 2001,,With Adam's family also there things to come clearer about Adam's past.Ruth Heald really does excel in this genre and if anyone's looking for a new author to follow and enjoys this genre then you won't go far wrong with this author who in my opinion is one of best around at the minute.A superb 5 star thriller once again from Ruth Heald.
What a twisted thriller this was! The story follows Lauren who is preparing for her wedding to Adam. Lauren has a tragic backstory of her parents dying in an accident whilst on holiday in Thailand many years before. She has known Adam since that time, with their families being friends, and she finally gets to marry who she believes to be her soulmate. However, on the run up to the wedding, Lauren receives a mystery card with a cryptic message simply saying “he doesn’t love you”. This was a great start to the book, and to be honest chilled me to the bone! After receiving this card, Lauren finds other weird things happening but can’t work out who would dislike her so much to do them.
I liked Lauren’s character, and really connected with her. I immediately felt for her with Adam’s lack of feelings towards her at times, particularly inviting his best friend to come and stay with them! Adam does seem to be one of the good guys however, despite constantly digging himself into a deeper hole as the book progressed! He did grow on me as his story was told, and I ended up feeling quite sorry for him with some of the situations which were obviously out of his control. There are plenty of supporting characters throughout the book, giving lots of people to be suspicious of with regards to what was happening to Lauren. It wasn’t easy to work out what was going on, with my opinions of who I thought was responsible swapping and changing as the book moved on. Just when I thought I had it all worked out, the storyline turned and changed direction, which was great and kept me on my toes!
The story is told from mainly from Lauren and Adam’s perspectives, but there are flashbacks in between the chapters from the time in Thailand when Lauren’s parents were still alive. These continued throughout the book, drip-feeding little bits of the back story, revealing clues as it went. The story was really easy to read, held my interest throughout and left me on the edge of my seat in anticipation! The characters all worked well together, creating plenty of tension and suspense, making sure I kept turning those pages to find out what was going on. I loved how all the little bits of the storyline fitted in together by the end, and the epilogue ended the story perfectly. A well-paced, nail-biting thriller which I would definitely recommend.
Thank you Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book!.
I love domestic thrillers and immediately got sucked into this book. The book begins at the end, right at one of the most climactic parts, which definitely hooks you in. The first half, where we are slowly shown that someone is harassing soon-to-be bride, Lauren, and trying to ruin her wedding, was creepy enough to really get me to try to figure out who was behind it and speed through it. Unfortunately, I figured out the ending really early on in the book, so I felt like the book was, at times, dragging on. Some of the twists were borderline unbelievable, and I think a lot of the clues or hints might have been a little too obvious. Overall, I enjoyed the read, but I think someone who is newer to the genre might enjoy it more.
I was lucky enough to be send an ARC of this by NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
The wedding follows Lauren and Adam as they prepare for their wedding. Only Lauren receives a gift from a mystery person that leaves her terrified, and this mystery person is dead set on ruining this wedding.
I really enjoyed how easy this book was to follow and read, it really did have me hooked. The characters were well set out, the descriptions were thorough and it was thrilling. Which is exactly what you want in a thriller.
However, reading this I did kind of feel like I had read it before. I wanted the characters to be more scared by the antics and for it to not be predictable. And the ending was a little??? I didn’t expect it I’ll give it that BUT something that I felt should have been a big scene was about 2 pages long and the whole thing was basically dismissed.
Regardless I did enjoy this book and I will be reading more of this authors work.
Lauren and Adam are getting married. Their families were close from their childhood's and when Lauren's parent's die in a tragic accident after which her sister Tracey all but disappears, their relationship becomes a foregone conclusion.
As the wedding gets nearer Lauren starts receiving frightening mail and realizes someone is hellbent on stopping the wedding.
Lauren as a character is very young and while she tries to tell Adam about the issues he ignores them.
Slowly you will expect absolutely everyone in this epic novel that travels from the day of the accident to the present told from both Adam and Lauren's perspectives.
I was completely engrossed in this novel and while I had suspects, you certainly don't need to worry about that spoiling the ending, it absolutely doesn't.
This novel is different from most as you cannot call it immediately, sure you know where it is going but how is kept from you, which retains the mystery spectacularly.
On the whole I enjoyed this book with its multiple twists and turns. It's told from central characters Lauren and Adam's viewpoints. Their wedding date is approaching and Lauren is in the middle of preparations when strange things begin to happen. Unpleasant gifts and notes are left for her. She begins to wonder who could want to harm her. Adam once had a reputation with women. Is he seeing someone? Is a jealous lover behind all this?
The book begins on Adam and Lauren's wedding day with a scene that leaves the reader in suspense and wanting read more. From there it moves between past and present. I really enjoyed the first part of this story with so many individuals possibly responsible for what was happening. Even when it was clear some of them might not be the guilty party, there was always that doubt.
For me the second part floundered slightly.. There were gripping moments and others when I had to suspend belief. And as far as the epilogue was concerned, the final scene in the church seemed a strange ending the story which didn't really fit with the rest of it.
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I enjoyed the storyline of this book and liked the characters. Was not great but good.
“ We were meant to share our vows, to toast our future. But when the truth comes out, shocking the onlooking guests and ripping my heart out, is a happy ever after possible? “
Oh my goodness this book from start to finish was a rollercoaster! Amazing. It was full of twists and turns and I just had to keep reading to keep the suspense up! Total edge of your seat read, I’d definitely recommend it to my friends!
This book was super enjoyable and full of twists. My only problem is that it dragged in the beginning. It kept me questioning the whole time.
Enjoy this book. Read it in 2 days. Definitely will be read more by this author. Thank you for another great book
I absolutely adore this author and I know that I'm never gonna be disappointed! I've been very quickly pulled into this one and it has been impossible to put down. I have devoured this entire book in just one sitting. This is a book which is filled with twists and turns. The suspense and tension have been clear from the beginning and has really kept me on the edge of my seat. This has been unpredictable, gripping and addictive. Quite possibly my favourite book by this author. A definite five star read which I highly recommend.
Thank you NetGalley, author Ruth Heald, and Bookouture for giving me a free E-book Arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
3.5 stars
This book follows Adam and Lauren as their story is told from their pov. They are both preparing for their dream wedding day, but as the day draws closer, weird things begin to happen such as notes and pushes down the stairs. Lauren is not sure where these threats are coming from which causes her to begin to question everyone around her including her husband-to-be Adam!
This book had a lot of twist and turns! The narrators were not reliable, which made this story fun to read! The author did a great job building up possible realistic suspects before the big reveal. Adam was my least favorite character! If he would have been honest with Lauren, it would have helped them stand together when the strange things started to happen. I liked how realistic Lauren's character was and I thought she could have found a better man than Adam! The writing made this book an easily one sitting read! If you are a fan of mystery and suspense, this book is a great one to pick up over a cozy weekend in or while traveling.
As you can tell from the title, this book centers around Lauren and Adam's upcoming wedding. A few weeks before the big day, Lauren begins receiving threats that cause her to question their relationship.
Overall, the story was fairly predictable aside from one small twist that I didn't see coming. The character development was lacking, and at times it was hard to get past their unrealistic oblivion. Neither Adam nor Lauren were very likable, so it was difficult to feel invested in whether or not they were able to resolve things. I really wanted to like this one, but it was just okay for me.
