No matter what I do, slow burns find me. I wish I had the patience to find out how this story ends. It did pique my curiosity, but by the halfway point I was ready to move on to something else. Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for an e-ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

I devoured this book in an evening! Once I started reading I couldnt put it down.

The story was engaging and fast paced. I was surprises by the ending and the few different twists that had me shaking my head at different characters.

Cannot wait to read more from this author!

Wow! I was in the mind to not even finish the book, I had a really hard time getting into the story, so glad I did, the ending was not what I saw coming. This story contained a great plot, well written, and even better ending. I recommend this story to all psychological thriller fans.

One Year Gone by Avery Bishop is a story about a missing teen who one year on contacts her mother asking for help.

I am not too sure about this one and whether I liked it or not. There were parts I enjoyed and parts I didn't. I found a lot of it slow and other parts too quick. I also found the ending a bit much and very unbelievable - it seemed to come out of nowhere.

Its 3 stars for me.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in return for an honest review.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I did not see the ending coming and appreciated how the twists and turns felt realistic, though heartbreaking. It has the same aesthetic as Mare of Easttown while still being a completely original and interesting story.

Story told through different timelines, we learned from Wyn and her secrets. Things she knows and things she hides. . From Jessica, we learned about the sense of loss and the desperate need to have her daughter back home.

The story had its moments, but none of these were enough to grab my attention or keep me entertained. Ending was okay...

I loved this thriller/mystery from Avery Bishop about a missing daughter and a mother who doesn't give up hope, particularly when she received a text from her. This book is an incredible rollercoaster ride. I thought I knew what happened to Wyn and could not have been more wrong. The ending of this book was shocking and very emotional for me.

Great book. Highly recommend and will most defiantly read more by this author and suggest to others!

Not the easiest read, sometimes a slog to get through. The story is told from different points of view and the timeline jumps around without much logical progression. I get what the author is trying to do, but it's not well executed. Simple things were over explained and other things felt simply glossed over.

The plot is intriguing enough and the ending was good but it felt like hard work getting there.

Another psychologically thriller that will lead you down one road then takes an unexpected sharp turn.

Jessica’s daughter Wyn disappear one school night. The police finds no evidence of foul play and believes she ran away. The mother is not convinced. She tries to find her but has no luck.
One year later in the middle of the night she gets two text messages from her daughter “mom” and “please help”. The third message says “I think he’s going to kill me”.

Her daughter is alive! As she continues to text she finds out the man that has her wears a badge!
The first person Jessica turns to is Wyn’s father who is married with two children but has stayed close to Wyn.
What happens next sets off a chain of events trying to piece Wyn’s last day of school through her friends.

There are a lot of characters that you’ll loathe come into play and a lot of reasonable possibilities but the last few twists blew me away.

Told from both Jessica’s and Bronwyn’s POV past and present this emotional rollercoaster will make your heart drop more than once.

Avery Bishop has done it again!! One Year Gone is an absolutely awesome thriller! I was NOT disappointed! I loved the multiple POV and multiple periods of time. The characters were great, too. And don't even get me started on the twists!! I had NO idea about anything until the end!! Loved it!!

I'm in two minds about this book. On one hand, the character development was incredible and we really got into their heads. However, I found it very confusing and it spoiled the story for me. It's told in several timelines -- the present and then we see through flashbacks what happened in the past. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep up, and the only reason I kept reading was because I loved the characters. Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for the chance to read and review this book.

Jessica's daughter has gone missing. Teenagers run away the cops tell her, but Jessica doesnt give up hope. A year later she receives a text from Wyn asking for help. Alternating between the past and the present the story unfolds. as Jessica must decide how far she will go to save her daughter. An enjoyable read that keeps the reader engaged.

Thank You Netgalley and Lake Union Publishing for the arc!
Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this book. I felt the pacing was too slow for me. As such it couldn't hold my attention and I found myself zoning out while reading this book

I loved this book. It was a gritty, fast-paced story. The jumping back and forward did get annoying but didn't influence my review. Kept me gripped throughout.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for giving me this arc in exchange for a fair and honest review.

A year has passed since Jessica Moore's seventeen year old daughter, Wyn, disappeared. It looks like she may have run away and at her age, not much was/is going to be done to find her, despite Jessica's gut feeling that her daughter did not walk away from her life. Then, Jessica starts getting text messages from Wyn, begging for help because she's been in captivity for the last year.

The story is told with numerous timelines. There is NOW and then there are various dates leading up to the last time that Wyn was seen and through the time afterwards.

Oh man I didn’t see that coming. Once I thought I had figured it out, something new would happen that would throw me off the trail. Fairly quick but sad read.
