The writing style is beautiful and had me hooked from the beginning. It keeps you enraptured and is detailed without going too far and being boring. The main character is amazing. I would love to continue reading the book.

I MUST KEEP READING!!!! I was able to read the first 3 chapters of Ace of Spades, and it already drew me in. I love the all the different topics that will be touched upon in the book such as: LGBTQI, race, gender, and economic status. I can't wait to read the rest of the story and more from the Faridah Abike-Iyimide.

Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé is an incredible dark academia novel that delves into the systematic racism that is prevalent in our lives. The chapter sampler I read was captivating and intriguing. It has such a diverse cast of characters and not to mention the cover! It’s amazing

📚📚📚 Sneak Peak provided via @netgalley and @macmillanusa, written by @faridahlikestea. Devon and Chiamaka are high school seniors with high academic achievement. It is no surprise that Chiamaka is selected as senior top class prefect, but Devon as a prefect is a surprise. By the end of chapter 2, a photo of Devon has been circulated around school and he is in shock. I want to know what happens next and how it ends!

I read a 25-page preview of Ace of Spades. The preview introduces us to the two main characters - Devon and Chimaka - both named prefects for the year. Chimaka is a Queen Bee who plans to go to an Ivy League school. Devon is focused on his music and is a bit shocked to be named.as a prefect.

I will say that this small bite of the book definitely affirmed that I want to read this book when it comes out. It also ended on a bit of a shock - so that made me want to read more.

I appreciated the sneak peek. Definitely reminded me of Gossip Girl, the movie Selah and the Spades, and the Netflix TV show Blood & Water. Should have a good built-in following with those comps, how active the author is online, and the big push from Macmillan.

This has got me really intrigued. Love the idea and I think it’s going to be a good one! Straight away the characters pulled you in, each chapter is in the first person and it really works. The setting is described brilliantly throwing me back to high school. Can’t wait to read more.

Thank you netgalley for giving me this arc sample in exchange for an honest review. I really like the concept for this book and really enjoyed the first 25 pages. I cant wait for the book to be released so I can continue to read and see where the story goes. I give this 3/5 stars for the introduction to the story.

I've heard so much about this book lately so when I saw a preview for it I figured I would give it a shot. Overall, I'm not sure that the first three chapters really gave me enough to feel compelled to pick up the book when it releases. I've been very much in the mood for a good mystery lately and was hoping this one would be intriguing especially with the mention of Get Out which is one of the few horror type movies I actually enjoyed. Neither of our two main characters really pulled me in to their side of of story either. I will admit the aces card showing up and most people seeming as if nothing happened seemed interesting to me and the overall plot sounds good but just basing it on the preview I read I'm not sure if this will be the book for me. I will definitely keep an eye out for other reviews to see if they thing things get better as it continues on and then I might try to pick it up from the library.

Awesome intro! Like the author intended this gives a lot of gossip girl, pretty little liars vibes and I LOVE it!

I love a good thriller, and I've heard amazing things about this one!

I picked up a sampler containing the first few chapters, and was slightly disappointed. There was nothing particularly engaging and the "hook" at the end didn't come with enough emotional attachment to have the effect it was going for. However, I'll be keeping an eye out for this book since I would be interested to see how it progresses!

The description of this book has had me hooked since I first heard about it a few weeks ago. It has everything I like—dark academia, a mystery, and any comparison to Gossip Girl is great for me. Plus it has a lovely twist of featuring a diverse cast, which is rare in the dark academia genre. These first three chapters were a great glimpse into the story and I can't wait to read more! I'm already invested.

As this only a sample, I cannot say much more than: the storytelling seems very engaging, and I'm curious about the characters we get to see in this little snippet. I look forward to the rest of the book.
PS: the cover is GORGEOUS

I really enjoyed this sneak peak. It was a very engaging start. I am planning on picking up the rest of the book once it is released. At that point and can provide a full review.

The first twenty pages definitely reeled me in. It has the feel of Gossip Girl with a snooty seeming girl as one of the MCs with someone awkward and different from the rest of the student body as the other. I'm very interested in continuing this story and seeing where Devon and Chiamaka's stories take me.

The first thing about Ace of Spades that caught my attention was my love for the stunning cover. Ace of Spades is a mystery/thriller about two students being anonymously bullied after becoming senior prefects at their school. Faridah Abike-lyimide's writing drew me in immediately; it's easy to read, relatable, and descriptive in a way that makes you want to learn more. My favorite part of the book so far is that it's told from dual perspectives so we get insight into both protagonists before watching them work as a team. The cliff-hanger this sneak peek ends with makes me want to preorder Ace of Spade immediately; I definitely need to learn more about these characters and find out who the bully is.
