Another exciting and heart-pounding mystery/thriller from Castillo who ably describes the cross-overs between two cultures.
Once again, top of her game. You always know a twist will be coming up! A bing worthy book series. It will keep you up all night.
Castillo packs a punch with this one. Just when I think things are solved, we get a twist we didn't see coming. It was action packed and I read it in one day because I had to know what happened next!
Oh, Kate Burkholder! What a kick-a$$ character. This is book 15 in the series and they just keep getting better! Thankful to NetGalley for providing me a copy of this title.
If this was the first book I'd ever picked up by Ms. Castillo I'd never choose to read another (and I've read 90% of her books). This one is seriously gruesome and should come with a trigger warning about violence against females, especially bludgeoning them to death. Geeze, she must be seriously hard up for topics for new books! Anyway, if you aren't bothered by graphic violence and gore then go read it. Even skipping ahead to try to get away from this I couldn't. It was actually more upsetting in a rural setting than if it'd been in a big inner city. Needless to say this new books gets a two thumbs down from me.
Every time I read a new book in this series I think it can't get any better then the previous one. Once again Linda Castillo has proved me wrong.
A violent murder of a fallen Amish woman whom Kate Burkholder knew as a young child, thrusts her
back into the community that she left as well, but has never really left her. As she walks that fine line between the Amish and English populace searching for the killer she uncovers secrets and betrayals that will question her soul. Maybe the neighborhood isn't as different as she thought.
Did I mention the ending will leave you breathless? Another winner!
Police Chief Kate Burkholder of Painter's Mill seeks to find the person who brutally murdered an excommunicated Amish woman in the thirteenth book of the series. The plot is well thought out with a few twists to throw readers off track in solving the crime too quickly. Scenes are a little gruesome at times. I love all the characters in the small police force and the way they support each other. Looking forward to the next in the series. Recommended!
Thank you NetGalley for the preview copy of this book. I have read all of her books and recommended the series to others. I zipped right through this one. Who knew the Amish were so violent.
Once again this author exceeds my expectations. Kate once again needs to solve a murder of someone she once knew. She enlists multiple sources and questions everyone to solve the murder. Unexpected ending. Lots of thrilling action. Love Love this series. Thank you Thank you
This is her best book so far. I love the ever evolving story of Kate. This is another one of those books that you do not want it to end,. But when it does, you are absolutely in awe of the ending. great story and I feel this would make an excellent book club story. I will be recommending this to many people. People who like mysteries to people who are looking for something new to read. Great Book!!!!
I absolutely love Linda Castillo's thrillers. I always learn something about the Amish. Kate Burkholder is a fantastic character
Kate is back solving crime in Amish country. This case is emotional for her as years ago she babysat the murdered woman. While on the hunt for the killer, Kate finds out secrets that hit close to home.
Another amazing book in the Kate Burkholder Amish series. These books get better with time! Cannot wait to recommend this one. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.
I love Linda Castile’s book. Her characters have so much depth. I did guess the plot of the story very early in the book but the killers eluded me till the end of the story. This is a very well written Amish thriller and a book that I know my customers will enjoy
Whenever I see Castillo’s name on a book, I immediately put it on the top of my to be read pile. Her books are just so well written, and her characters have become old friends. This time out, police chief Kate Burkholder is investigating the death of an Amish girl, one who left the order, and Painter’s Mills some years before. Kate knew Rachael and can’t help wonder why the woman has returned. Rachael never fit in the Amish world, as a child she was wild and reckless, as a young woman she was even more determined to cause trouble. Her behavior earned her plenty of enemies, both inside and outside the Amish fold. But who could have hated her enough to kill her so brutally? Kate will leave no stone unturned until she finds justice for the troubled woman, no matter who she has to implicate
