I just really love the suspense in this series. Both Jace and Taryn have traumatic pasts, one that had Taryn and her family abruptly leaving town. Now shes back and comes back to Jace for help. I kid you not, the past and current problems Taryn has to deal with are extremely heavy that I cannot imagine anyone in her situation. Jace is totally devoted and will do anything for Taryn. This was definitely a fast paced action packed book. I would HIGHLY recommend this series for anyone who are afraid to read "cowboy" romances. I would emphasize "light" on the cowboy and "heavy" on suspense (ex-military style). Read in order for the best experience as characters cross over, but can be read as a standalone.

I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

What I enjoy about the Heart of Texas series is that while yes they are cowboy romances, they are more than just a feel good story. These cowboys have military backgrounds and the situations them and their loves find themselves in are not a walk in the park.

Jace is still a wreck from Taryn leaving him unexpectedly 5 years ago. Then she just shows up out of the blue, and she is wrapped up in a whole lot of no good. She needs half a million dollars to save her and her sister from a drug lord . I know , crazy right?!? But I was here for it lol

I want a Jace, that man loved hard and never gave up on his feelings for Taryn. He was capable and loving and damn sexy. Taryn took me longer to warm up to because her entire backstory is just bananas. Together though they were sweet and the intimacy between them was hot. I loved seeing the familiar couples from previous books. This group of friends are more like a big family whose there for one another no matter what.

A Cowboy Kind of Love is a second chance western romance with high stakes suspense, off the charts steam, and one hell of an ending plot twist. I hope Donna Grant will be releasing more in this series because there's a few more bachelors who need to find love.

What I love about most standalone series is that you get a great group of side characters that follow along in each book until most of them become a main character. It helps get me more and more invested in the series because I want to see all my favorite people get their happily ever after.

Jace has been one of those recurring characters. I've enjoyed him as a side character and I really liked him as a main character. His love for Taryn never went away even years after she just upped and left town on him. His dedication to her is always what I'm looking for.

Taryn was put in a very tough spot when she disappeared and I really didn't see how she could have done anything else. Sometimes second chance love irritates me because of the reason of the break up but that is not the case in this situation. Actually, I ended up being very angry on Taryn's behalf when a few truths come out.

Now there were a few unbelievable things about this story, but it is a story. Besides those things, I did enjoy the overall plot. The strong heroine who has survived for years but at a point of desperation she goes to the one man who she can count on the most. The fact that Jace didn't even hesitate to step in and was willing to do anything he could to get her out of the danger and back in his life. It was all a very compelling love story.

Just meh. Formulaic and the writing felt forced. There was nothing to be drawn into. I couldn’t relate to the characters on any characteristics, so it was hard to keep reading.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC.

We’re back in Clearview, Texas; this time it’s Jace’s story. This series has been hit or miss with me. But I loved Jace in the last book, so I was looking forward to reading this book.

Jace has been struggling since his days as a POW years ago. Taryn brought back light into his life until her and her family’s sudden disappearance. Her return to Clearview brings out all his protective Alpha instincts. From Jace and Taryn’s backstory they’re definitely each other’s one and only. He kind of forgave her awfully quickly but I assume that was a combo of still loving her and wanting the emotional pain to stop.

Taryn has sacrificed a lot to pay her father and brother’s debts and shield her sister Payton by selling drugs for a huge drug lord. Through all the hardships she’s never forgotten Jace and their undeniable, steamy chemistry. I was surprised that she was surprised by the lengths and risks Jace was willing to take to help her because of their deep connection/history.

There’s not much character growth as things focus mostly on Taryn’s predicament. The danger involved was high and led towards a calamitous climatic scene. I also liked that Taryn and Jace’s demons weren’t completely insta-solved but left room beyond the story for healing.

"A Cowboy Kind of Love" was a quick, enjoyable read. I’m really hoping there’s another book featuring Ryan, Cleaview’s chief of police, because he was my favorite side character in this book.

Poor Ryan has a decision to make.

Wow, excellent book! A chance to have there relationship back but first the kidnapping, the money exchange and trying to save her sister. Fast paced story. Great details. Some surprising moments. All wrapped up in one good book!

3.5 STARS

Jace Wilder has never let go of his feelings for Taryn even though she suddenly left town in a seemingly heartless way. For five years he has been pining for her, so when she turns up looking to Jace for help in a lethal and extreme situation, Jace has no hesitation in risking his or his friend’s lives to help her out. Jace has military training as well many of his helpers plus he has the law on his side.

Taryn Hillman gave up everything for her train wreck of a family who drew her into the underworld of drugs, human trafficking, and all kinds of other nefarious activities. The drug lord she works for offers Taryn a chance to get herself and her sister away; however, it will require some serious cash. Jace is Taryn’s last hope for freedom if she is willing for him to risk it all for her poor life choices.

As Jace rounds of the troops which are people from the previous books in the series, the couple reconnects on an emotional and physical level. Their enemy is at the top of the list for several agencies who want to take this evil man down. Some elements of this story are predictable in outcome, especially the deal Taryn makes with her nasty boss. I find it a bit hard to have sympathy for a woman who has been dealing drugs regardless of the reason.

This is the sixth in the Heart of Texas series; readers will likely enjoy seeing other characters they have come to know as Jace’s friends rally around the couple in the unsurprisingly deadly battle to come.

Jace Wilder Is a rancher, former SEAL, and stays away from any long term relationship. Taryn Hillman, the only woman he loved, disappeared with her family five years ago and hasn't been seen or heard from since. His friends have helped him look for her, with no results. They've been telling him that it's time to get back out there but he has this feeling that she's close. He has a dream, he thinks, one night where he actually sees her. Taryn finally appears at his door a few days later and he finally start to understand why she has been gone for so long.
This story is fascinating, non-stop, and a roller coaster ride you will NOT want to miss!!

Wow, just wow! Jace Wilder's love of his life skips out of town only to reappear on his doorstep five years later. Taryn Hillman is desperate and seeks out the last person she should. Jace and Taryn's love is forever, even through heartache. Jace will go through wildfire to protect Taryn, but Taryn can't lose anyone else. This story is filled with suspense, twists, betrayal, love, and family. The wonderful characters are well-developed and believable. This is my first book from this author, but it will not be my last.

I would have to say this book just did not do anything for me. I struggled to stay with reading it and honestly this is not one I would recommend. I have enjoyed other books by this author but this one was a disappointment to me. Pass on this one.

This was my first experience reading a book by Donna Grant. It took me a few chapters to get into the story. There are many characters and the backstory of each was briefly given. This novel continues the Heart of Texas series where each book follows the romance of a different cowboy. The store of Jace and Taryn has multiple twists and turns with enough romance to keep me reading. A Cowboy Kind of Love should appeal to readers looking for a quick, enjoyable novel with interesting characters and a satisfying ending.

Another good mix of relationships, sex and action with a few twists that keeps you reading, in this latest title from Donna Grant.

It is now Jace’s turn to find his other half who is someone from his past. He has never forgotten her. As usual, the woman’s life is complicated. Taryn is entangled in a drug cartel ; she needs a lot of money to free her sister and herself. As things unfold, she finally asks Jace for help, which brings his friends along. They come up with a plan which does not work that well. Follows a series of twists and turns. All ends well though and Jace and Taryn get to be together a second time.

It can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading the series in order as you get to know the different characters and the relationships they have developed with each other, both men and women. Looking forward to the next one.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an Advanced Reader Copy. I really enjoyed it.

Jace Wilder is a former Marine Raider. He teaches people how to be a steer wrestler. Jace cannot seem to move past Taryn, the woman who broke his heart by vanishing five years ago. When she comes back into town, he demands answers. Jace depends on his friends’ assistance to help Taryn from her predicament. What dangers await Jace and his friends? Will their military skillset be a match against a dangerous crime boss?
Taryn Hillman’s life is a living nightmare. She must sell drugs for a ruthless criminal kingpin to save her sister’s life. Taryn hatches a plan to escape, but first, she needs money to buy him off. There is only one person she can turn to; however, she has misgivings about involving Jace in her mess. Will Taryn finally escape Boyd Walters for good? What sacrifices must she make? Does Taryn dare hope for a happily-ever-after with Jace?
Jace is such a delicious, damaged knight-in-shining-armor with a heart-of-gold. There is little he would not do to help his friends and family, even at great risk to his life. Jace has demonstrated this throughout the series. I admire Jace’s ability to acknowledge some difficult facts about himself before they turned into a serious problem. He makes no excuses but owns up to them. What I adore the most about Jace is his thoughtfulness towards his friends. He does not want to intrude on their happiness with their significant others with his mental and emotional troubles.
I could not connect with Taryn. For some reason, she just irked me. I empathized with Taryn for all she had to endure for her family’s sake. She willingly sacrifices her happiness and future to protect and aid them. What I like the most about Taryn is her reluctance to involve Jace and his friends. As much as she needed their help, she did not want to jeopardize their lives.
A COWBOY KIND OF LOVE is book six in Donna Grant’s romantic-suspense series, HEART OF TEXAS. The story can standalone, but I suggest reading the previous five books to understand the heroes’ strong and unshakable bond. I love how the couples from the prior books show up intermittently throughout the story, especially Abby and Clayton. The only nitpick I have is the trope. The second-chance element really killed my excitement for Jace’s story. I guess I wanted something more for him.
A COWBOY KIND OF LOVE is a suspenseful tale of two people overcoming incredible obstacles to be together again. I cannot wait to see who will be next! Ryan or Cash.

Another great book by Donna Grant!!! A group of ex military friends protecting the ones they love. A great mix of suspense, action and romance. Part of a series but definitely can be read as a stand alone.

Romantic mystery which follows a familiar pattern. Part of a series which involves the same group of characters. A quick read.

This is one of those books I never would have picked up from reading the synopsis alone but since it was written by Donna Grant I decided to take a change and am now left in the awkward position of writing a review for a book that I was never the right reader for. This was a fast read and the drama quickly escalates when Jace is reunited with his lost love, Taryn, and realizes that she needs his help. As the sixth book in this series we already know that Jace's friends are well versed in danger and willing to help a friend no matter the risk. There were a lot of elements here for what could have been an emotional read but the focus is almost entirely on the drama that Taryn brings with her and that is not where my interests lay. I have little patience for the over-the-topness, coincidences and near misses of this type of romantic suspense. Taryn and Jace have one conservation and all of their past misunderstanding is forgiven and they just know that the years don't matter, their feelings are the same, The romance is just secondary to the action filled with super bad bad-guys and life threatening heroics of the kind I have a hard time suspending disbelief for. The book will be the right fit for lovers of the genre, for me it just reinforced what I already knew about my preferences.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Taryn needs help and has to ask for help last person on her list, Jace.
Jace loved Taryn, then she left him without explanation, he wants to know why.
Storyline is great, enjoyed a lot.

A Cowboy Kind of Love is a steamy, second chance romance. Taryn Hillman left without giving an explanation and left Jace Wilder broken hearted. Five years later, Taryn shows back up at Jace's doorstep knocking him for a loop. A drug kingpin has had Taryn in his grip for five years and she needs money to save her sister and her life of servitude. Picking right up where they left off, Taryn and Jace fall back in love and lust while Jace jumps on his white stallion to come riding to the rescue with his ex Navy Seal calvary of friends at his back. The cowboy theme is a little light on this one and Taryn is not my favorite heroine by a long shot. The story has a feel good HEA and is fast paced and action packed for an easy read. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.

A rekindled romance. Taryn has come home to Clearview. She’s in big trouble and Jace and the rest of the tuff guys are ready to fight for her. Lots of action with a twist in the end.
