Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me a free advanced copy of this book to read and review.
Wonder Woman had always been a favorite comic book hero of mine. I love this new story and voice that was given to her.
With my daughter and I a fan of Wonder Woman, it was not surprising to say we both loved this fast and easy read. Wonder Woman: Heartless was entertaining with never a dull moment. We finished this book in one sitting. A definite keep to our home library.
Honestly I don’t have an interest in reading this book anymore and I want to be more selective with what I request.
I really enjoyed reading this book, I don't really enjoy audiobooks so I appreciated the company giving the option to read the text. This was a fun story and I'm sure the audiobook was amazing like the rest of their productions.
This was a fun book for people new to DC and/or Wonder Woman. I've only read a few Wonder Woman comics and I'd never heard of the Crimson Avenger, but I was able to read and enjoy the story without having much background knowledge. Each chapter switches between different authors, but the story came together well with the authors having distinct voices, but not distinct enough to make the story feel disjointed.
Wonder woman: heartless is the text from an audio comic story. I listened to the first chapter online as I read of the book. I definitely preferred the audio over the text.
I liked this! I think it's the script of the podcast, but I liked all of the authors involved and it was a good story that clearly led straight to the next season.
This Wonder Woman book gave me all of what I was liking for going in.
The action. The drama. The suspense.
All of it.
Anyone who likes DC, WW, or Justice League will enjoy this take.
Wonder Woman: Heartless came out just in time for the 80th anniversary.
Something is happening, something that makes Diana's heart race and it's killing people. Now she must team up with the Crimson Avenger to stop anything else from happening.
This was a fast-paced, enjoyable read. Theres also a big feminist vibe going on with the three women superheroes saving the day. If you're looking for a quick Wonder Woman fix, this is the story for you.
Thank you, NetGalley and Serial Box for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
This is my first time reading anything about Wonder Woman. I loved the story and look forward to continuing to read more whenever I get my hands on more work.
Wonder Woman is one of my favorite characters. I was excited to see that there was going to be a story about Diana. When I first picked up the novel, I was a bit confused at first. The way the writing was formatted kind of throw me off. It felt is was more like a script than a novel. The story line & the approach the author made was interesting.
Overall, this was quite an interesting read.
Wonder Woman: Heartless by Natalie C. Parker, Tessa Gratton, Alaya Dawn Johnson, and Heidi Heilig
Publisher: Serial Box
Genre: Sci Fi & Fantasy
Release Date: March 25, 2021
Wonder Woman: Heartless by Natalie C. Parker, Tessa Gratton, Alaya Dawn Johnson, and Heidi Heilig is an episodic radio drama written for Serial Box.
I'm hopeful that with narration this story will take on more life. In the written form, I felt it fell a little flat. I found the story to be interesting, but was lacking something.
As someone who is not familiar with the Wonder Woman lore, I was able to jump right into this story and keep up with what was going on
I'm so grateful to Natalie C. Parker, Tessa Gratton, Alaya Dawn Johnson, & Heidi Heilig, Serial Box, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.
I love Wonder Woman.
This, however, felt like a TV script turned into a novel. Too many scenic details and not enough about the characters.
Wonder Woman: Heartless has arrived just in time to celebrate Wonder Woman's 80th anniversary, and I'm sure that is no coincidence. This Serial Box special was written by Natalie C. Parker, Tessa Gratton, Alaya Dawn Johnson, and Heidi Heilig and narrated by Tiana Camacho.
There is something very wrong. Something that makes Diana Prince's heart race. It feels familiar, and it is killing. Now, Wonder Woman must team up with an old friend, as well as the Crimson Avenger, to stop and further deaths from occurring.
“It was the same for everyone they passed. A moment of surprise replaced by an almost sinister calm.”
Wonder Woman: Heartless is exactly the sort of story I was expecting. No, more than that: it was the story I was hoping for. This is quintessential Wonder Woman here, and it's brought to us by some of my favorite authors. Naturally, I am ecstatic.
This is a fast-paced read, one that brings three women together as they try and track the source of a supernatural killer. Fans will certainly recognize Barbara Minerva, but the Crimson Avenger might be more of a surprise to some. However, her inclusion truly makes the story, as readers will soon find out.
One of the best parts about Wonder Woman: Heartless is that it is a feminist piece that tackles the conversation of social, racial, and economic justice. It's one of the many wonderful things we can always expect from Wonder Woman, and the creators did not let us down here. I promise.
The interactions, conversations, and points made within this story really felt like coming home, in a way. It's a bit ironic, given how the magic within these pages felt like home to her. Intentionally or not, I enjoyed that parallel.
“She paused, but her heart did not. It beat quickly, and Diana had the feeling that she should turn and walk in the direction she'd come, but then, just as suddenly as it had begun, it stopped.”
I only received the text version of Wonder Woman: Heartless, so I can't speak to how the audio portions will be. However, based on my past experiences with Serial Box, I do not doubt that it will be quite the experience. I'm going to be adding that to my “must listen” list!
Thanks to Serial Box and #NetGalley for making this book available for review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I couldn’t finish this book. It just didn’t keep my attention at all. I have tried and tried to read it but just couldn’t get past 10% .
I can’t recommend .
It was a fun quick story for anyone looking to spend more time with Wonder Woman without diving too deep into an overly complicated plot. I personally think I'd prefer more like this, it was great having a quick story that isn't weighed down with too many other details.
This is a fun one-shot style story, told by some of the coolest YA authors writing right now. I don’t know the Wonder Woman cannon as well as I know other characters, but it was a nice mixture of nods toward those who might be more familiar, but still newbie-friendly.
This is written like an episodic radio drama, and it would be cool to hear performed.
Decent story but the problem with one off superhero stories is that they can't give the characters any development or new things because they have hit within the canon of the property.
Anything superhero always goes down a storm in our Library so when I saw this, I had high hopes. Unfortunately - despite showing some promise at times - this wasn"t as good as I'd hoped.
