This was an interesting book. I thought the information presented was well laid out and flowed well. I really enjoyed reading it and want to try and start implementing some of what I read.

What Do You Need Today?: Simple Encouragements for Real-Life Moments by Hope Lyda is a well organized devotional type self-care book. I really appreciated how the book was focused on needs as well as the Care Packages at the end of each topic. #WhatDoYouNeedToday #NetGalley

What Do You Need Today? by Hope Lyda is a unique book of inspiration. Hope Lyda writes as if she is talking to the reader personally. The book is broken down topic by topic. At the end of each topic there is an inspirational quote and a “Care Package”. The “Care Package” portion is a place where you can critically think about what you have just read and answer questions. This was a unique book to read and I think others may like to read it too. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. (This review is also on GoodReads.)

Do you need encouragement today?
Author, editor, and spiritual director Hope Lyda presents her book "What Do You Need Today? Simple Encouragement for Real-Life Moments," published by Harvest House Publishers. Lyda starts with "What Do You Need Today?" then she offers thirty chapters whose tiles all start with "I need . . . " (e.g., "a fresh starrt2, a perspective shift," "a spiritual retreat," or "a soft place to land"). She ends with the book with a sport where the readers can list "What I need today." Lyda states that the answer to the question "What Do You Need Today?" matters. She goes even further and writes: "I’m here to help you tap into those needs. I’ll be right beside you throughout this journey. I want to hold this space as you discover how it feels to have your needs heard and received by a gentle listener who responds with empathy, openness, and humor. Thanks for including me . . . I come alongside you to offer encouragement that is born of a prayerful spirit" (p. 6).
The chapters are six pages long and contain two parts: a presentation of the topic and a "Care Package" divided into four points: 1) Delivered to Your Heart, 2) Explorations and Actions, 3) God Sees Your Need, and 4) Self-Care Self Talk, where the readers are challenged to get active.
The book is Bible-based and very personal. Lyda really tries to engage with the readers. One does not have to read the chapters in the order in which they are presented but can choose the topic in which one is most interested or which one needs the most at a particular moment. There is also place to answer the questions in the Exploration and Action segment. I recommend this book for readers who are open to mindfulness / self-care on a biblical basis and who are interested to get engaged.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

In this book, we have different types of not only encouragement but great practical advice for different situations. I like that it’s easy to ready, well written, can be read by a woman of different ages. This book will be an opening for healing and opportunities to grow and change the perspective we have been holding toward many situations in our life. The reason I give 4 * it’s because i think we need to be careful not to become so over-positive and on wellness that we may misunderstand what God it’s trying to say to us. Overall, I’ll say it’s a good book, but you need to be careful about what do you accept as true for you.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free digital copy for review, all opinions are my own.

I love the concept of the book! A devotional that you can go to regardless of your feelings. The idea is great, the devotionals are ok, not the best, but ok. In today’s market it is hard to write a great devotional. I liked this one

I like the way that this book is broken up into different sections depending on what you feel you need. Clear, actionable advice and space to fill in your own 'recipe'. Too much of a religious focus for me, personally, but this will work really well for those who follow a Christian faith.

What do you need today??
I need..... (fill in the blank)
A short but very helpful, encouraging book about making progress with.......
Needs:
• New start
• Boldness
• Perspective shift
• A pep talk
• A spiritual retreat
• Balance
• Letting go
There were actually more needs, I’ve just named a few for this review.
I really loved the care package part in each chapter. Its delivered to my heart and with God always seeing my need. The author gives action steps with self talk to help journal these affirmations.
The whole book is a practical application to how to achieve these things. Reminding me that I’m a child of the King.
It’s personal and encouraging with a big hug wrapped around it. I’d love to meet this author and spends some time sharing experiences. She’s done a wonderful thing with this and I highly recommend it.
Thanks to Harvest House Publishers via Netgalley for this eARC. I’m voluntarily leaving my review.

"What do you need today?" by Hope Lyda is such a beautiful book! The cover is gorgeous, and so is the content of the book!

What do you need today? It is not a question we ask each other often, although we should. And that is what this book is all about. We have to ask this question more often. We have to ask others, and we have to ask ourselves.

We have to recognize what we need from others and what we need from ourselves. And the book makes good space for this. It asks questions and makes space for you to write your answer.

You can use this book as a guideline and you can use this book to find yourself.

I do also have to comment on the colors. I love the warmth and the love you feel with these colors. They certainly set a tone as well!

This book is such a wakeup-call!

This is a nice devotional well organized by topic. It has space for you to do some journaling and reflecting with well written guiding questions. I enjoyed the layout and design of this book. I would recommend it or purchase it for others.

I am sorry I did not realise how religious this was and I am not religious at all so I had to stop I just could not finish but this is not a reflection of the book it is purely personal preference

One of my goals for 2021 is to do more self-care activities, so I was interested in this book, especially with the journaling component.

I liked the concept of giving care packages to yourself as a gesture of love. I've struggled with mindfulness tasks in the past, but there are multiple scenarios included. I also like how there are Bible verses woven throughout., but it's not preachy. In fact, it's written in a way that you feel like you're chatting with a good friend.

Many people are struggling these days, especially after 2020. This could be a nice book to gift to others as a way to be inspired and learn to focus on self care.

WOW This is a WOW book well for me that is, Hope starts by saying that she will be a friend and be with me on this journey (paraphrased). Well as I read it the writing was just like chatting to a friend encouraging me to stop and ansa. It's not a book to rush, you need to read a bit think a bit action a bit record a bit o and hilight a lot. I can safely say this will be a multi coloured book.. lots of hints and back with scripture well actually I'd say its scripture based as I feel its help to live out who we are. Part of who we are is that we are loved ❤ and chosen by God himself not a bad starting point so good you really don't need to move away from that simple fact. This book doesn't just start from this point it takes you deeper into this truth.
Its full of motivation not a yehaa then put it down a move on its a motivate think it through how will i carry this and make it look a part of me not just part of my life. If that is a tad confusing then read it and I promise it will make complete sense to you.
So I'm guessing by now you get the idea I love this book and I really feel it can only be a good move for everyone to read it, I know you hear that all the time, its just this time it's more truer.
Obviously the Bible is the number one book there is nothing close to that but this may just help you to live out the who you are parts a bit easier. If this helps you to step back in order to rest in the calling and true you. The you that Father is calling you to be.. .. .. .. ..
