This is a hallmark movie wrapped up in a cozy summer book. This is book two of the Juniper Springs series, but I actually haven’t read the first book and had no trouble diving right in and falling in love with all the characters and their love stories. (I also adore that we get to follow 70-year-old Sassy fall in love! More women over 50 please!)
And I’ll be looking into the first book ASAP!
Such a lovely book. Although it took me a bit longer to get into it than the first one, I couldn’t put it down after I’d hit the halfway mark. It was great seeing the familiar and loved characters we got to see in the first book - with a few additions. I loved the sisters and seeing them grow personally - I loved Sassy and Lillian too. I especially loved Moe and had to re-read all his scenes twice because I wanna be Moe when I grow up. Can we please get a third book with his story? Please and thank you. This book is warm and heartwarming and it definitely gives all the happy feels. I really enjoyed the family aspect especially seeing the family come back together with a few new additions. A great summer light hearted read where I would absolutely recommend reading the first book first.
The Summer Sisters is the second book in the Juniper Springs series by Sara Richardson. An intriguing story that readers will not want to put down. The Summer Sisters is a fast-paced, charming story with delicious love scenes and undeniable chemistry. The kind of story that stays with you long after reading.
It’s official. I’m moving to Juniper Springs when I grow up! The Juniper Inn is being remodeled (Christmas themed cabins!!!!!) and a grand re-opening is on the horizon. Annnnnnd then someone goes and half way falls through the roof. 🙃 Rose, Dahlia, and Magnolia (the Buchanan sisters) are all trying to convince their mom to reconcile with their aunt Sassy -the one they inherited the inn from. When their mother shows up unannounced, their plans are derailed and a verbal altercation takes place over almond milk! Trust me when I say this family is absolutely wonderful. I adore each of the sisters personalities individually and how they support one another. Aunt Sassy had me on the edge of my seat this whole book and I’ve come to appreciate her matriarch personality. This is the follow up to Home For The Holidays (which I adored) and I’d highly suggest picking that up first! It’s well worth the read! Now, my only question, will there be a 3rd book?!? 🤞🏼
The second in a series and this is a romance series where I would completely suggest starting at book one as you will need to know what happens in book one to continue to book two.
The Buchanan sisters are enjoying their time with their aunt and are hoping to repair the relationship between their aunt and their mom that has been decades in the making. While they are fixing up their aunt's inn to reopen, they both may also find love in unlikely locations.
I loved book one in this series and was excited to return to these sisters and while I loved the moments where the sisters were interacting and doing what they needed to do for their aunt and their mother, the love story portion for each women wasn't my cup of tea. Both women in this book were wishy washy and spent the whole book debating about if they wanted to be in love and while I could have enjoyed that for one character, to have both felt a little too much in one book.
I have been a fan of Sara Richardson and love how she portrays women as strong and having their own lives while love walks in, for me this one wasn't one of my favorites. I wonder if there will be another in this series and will be intrigued to see if the sisters have more to share.
I absolutely LOVED this book!! I loved the characters, the storyline and storytelling. I found myself losing time as I read it because I didn't put it down. It wasn't your typical romance and had no real smutty parts. It was a good book from start to finish.
This book is simply too cute! I loved being back in Juniper Springs with Sassy and the girls. All the love, hope, forgiveness and restoration that happens in this book is remarkable. Rose's passion for everything in life is so encouraging. Plus, I mean, Colt.... and Grumpy aka Elroy... Such a great book!
Thank you to the publisher for a gifted copy of the book. I loved Home For the Holidays and was excited to read more about the Buchanan sisters. Though, this is the second book of the series, you can read this as a stand alone. I do recommend you read the first book to get better acquainted with everyone. Overall, a fun read with dealing with mending broken relationships and starting over. I love the different love stories within the story. I was frustrated with both Daliah and Rose at parts because it seems they didn’t know what they wanted. I do hope there’s more stories to come from this series.
The Summer Sisters is the second book in the Juniper Springs series where we once again follow the Buchanan sisters and their Aunt Sassy. Now that the sisters have inherited the Inn from their aunt, it's time for them to get it renovated and have a grand re-opening.
Rose and Dahlia, along with Dally's children, are now living full time in Juniper Springs. Rose is working to get the Inn completely redone and ready to welcome their first guests back. Aunt Sassy has been away on a trip, but she's due back in time for the Inn to re-open. Rose has been overwhelmed trying to get everything done, but she is determined to get it done on time and within budget. When their Mom, who has been estranged from her sister Sassy for years, comes to town, the girls decide it's time for the family to reconcile.
This story is about love, loss, letting go and finding what truly makes you happy and is important. I enjoyed all of the characters and I'm invested in these women and what comes of them! Such a great summer read!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review**
This continuation of the book in which we meet the family, Home for the Holidays. I'm so glad their story was continued. This is a story of family dynamics, working together, forgiveness and most of all, finding love.
The three sisters aren't the only ones finding love, either. Their Aunt Sassy who has given them an inn to own together finds an older guy to her liking. The girls mother, who has been estranged from her sister (Sassy) for years looks like she's heading down the path to love too. There's love all around!
This is a feel good, easy to read book that will leave you happy you picked it up! My favorite scene was when Rose finally decides to tell Colt how she feels about him. She ends up in an awkward situation that was just hilarious. What can you say--love isn't always easy.
Thanks to Forever Pub and NetGalley for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.
This is part two in a series and I didn't know about or read book one. The first book took place during Christmas and I wasn't in the mood to read it seeing as we're at the start of summer here in Canada so book two seems so much more relatable right now.
This book was as fluffy as a bag of cotton candy and sometimes I love that...this was good break from my thrillers and I loved the family dramas. There was even a bit of romance and throw in an old gal's wisdom and you have a pleasant story to while away a few hours.
A Hallmark quality novel of three sisters that come together to remodel their beloved aunt’s summer retreat. Each has her own love interest with its conflicts. Summer read.
The Summer Sisters is a continuation of the story of the Juniper Inn and the women who love and run it. In Home for the Holidays, Magnolia, Dahlia and Rose find their way back to the Juniper Inn and their Aunt Sassy and most importantly to each other. In The Summer Sisters, they grow and truly find their place in their own lives and their family. I love the relationship between the women in this book! I found myself a teensy bit frustrated through the middle when they all felt a little unsure and indecisive, but the pay off was totally worth it!
This is a second in a series book. I had not read the first book but I was able to follow along with no issues. The author did a nice job of mentioning needed details without making you feel like you needed to go back and read to the first book. I would suggest that you start with the first book though.
The story was written with the chapters alternating between perspectives of the three main characters. There was a variety of ages/generations of the characters, including main and sub-characters which has become something that I like. It is always nice to read about a character that is over 50.
The book would be a perfect story to be made into a Hallmark movie. It reminded me of the many movies I have watched over the years. It was not surprising that the story ended as it did and really there was no big moments but I did enjoy reading it. At times I found myself getting frustrated with the characters because of important details they kept to themselves or how they did deal with matters until absolutely necessary.
The story came to a conclusion with the expected outcomes and the traditional happy-ever-after. It was an easy, and relatively clean, read.
Thanks to the publisher, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), and NetGalley for giving the opportunity to read and review this book.
Thank you so much to Grand Central Publishing and Forever Publishing for this advance copy. I got it in the mail today and finished it in one afternoon! Absolutely wonderfully written, we are immersed in the story of Rose and Sassy. You feel like you are in Colorado in the mountains at this beautifully described Juniper Inn. Full of endearing characters, beautiful setting, and small town antics each page keeps you turning until you finish the book. I did, in one sitting! Restoration of the inn is not the only thing being restored in this novel. Family, faith, friendship, love and forgiveness are at the center and you will be feeling all sorts of emotions as you read through each chapter. I loved it and hope you will too. Get a copy today. Publishes July 6, 2021. Read Home For The Holidays too, its the first title in this series.
What a sweet uplifting story. It is well written and holds your attention. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it. Thank you Forever (Grand Central Publishing) via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
I want an Aunt Sassy!
Rose and Dahlia Buchanan have moved to Juniper Springs to take over the Juniper Inn from their aunt Sassy McGrath while she takes an extended trip while they fix it up. Rose is being overwhelmed trying to get the renovations done on time and budget so they could have a grand reopening when their aunt returned and hopefully ending the estrangement between their mother and aunt after many years.
I loved The Summer Sisters because of all the people that fall in love while they are in Juniper Springs, Colorado with the most unexpected characters or reconnect. Plus, the people in town help each other except for the normal nasty character that tries to disrupt things because there needs to be some conflict.
The Summer Sisters can be read as a stand-alone, but you should read Home for the Holidays first.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Somehow I missed the fact that this is the second in a series, and wondered why the story seemed so familiar! The characters introduced in Home for the Holidays are back in this novel set in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Aunt Sassy and her nieces are still in the process of renovating Juniper Inn and finding love in the process.
quite enjoyed the first in this series and was delighted to find out about the sequel. who doesn't want to know 'what comes next' after a good romance book. i will say i enjoyed the first a bit more, but this was still an enjoyable read. a hallmark movie in book format.
Thank you to Net Galley for an advanced copy of this book. I loved reading the sequel to Home for the Holidays. As the reader expressed at the end of the book in her notes, I wanted to know how the characters lives went on after the end of the previous book "Home for the Holidays". I loved the way the women in this book take on all of the trials and tribulations that life has to offer while at the same time find love. The bonds between sisters and family can be tenuous but in the end family is everything and it is the underlying factor in this book. The women while all strong characters who have all made changes in their lives learn how to move on while at the same time appreciating the support they receive from the men who love them. I recommend if you are looking for a great "beach read" you pick this book up. It is entertaining, uplifting and engages you into the story from the very first page.
