I have never been so charmed by a Rockstar as I was by Cedric "Linx" Lincoln. Linx is definitely an Artist - he is also fiercely devoted to his family and his rescue cat (of course named Gibson). I would describe Linx as an almost beta hero. He may like being in charge in the bedroom - but in life he is a peacemaker and seems to go with the flow most of the time. He actually kind of lets people walk all over him - putting their needs and wants well above Linx most of the time.

Becca is on a "life vacation" from her job as a therapist. She is a true empathic - and that means her patients emotions really weigh heavily on her and she can't just leave work at the office. Her vacation involves living above her parents garage and working as a waitress in a live music dive bar. Becca's last life vacation involved her following Linx's band in Europe for a summer. She and Linx didn't connect there - but when they meet in the bar there is an immediate connection for both of them.

Really Linx is so freaking cute. You could see from the beginning that he was the one in danger of having his heart broken and that Becca definitely had the power to be the heart breaker. Her along with Linx's band. But - I will say the drama here is done very well - and feels exactly right to the situation. I also adored all the side characters. This book is in a series of connected books - but I read this as a standalone and still adored it. I tis laugh-out-loud funny and full of emotion at the same time.

Loved it! Christina Hovland is quickly moving into new favorite author territory.

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

Played by the Rockstar is a great rockstar romance story and a great start to a new series! Becca & Linx had amazing chemistry and banter.

This is the first book that I have read by Christina Hovland and it definitely won’t be my last!

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Becca is a therapist taking a hiatus to have some fun and figure out what she wants to do with her life. Linx is a rockstar on break because his band members are too busy with other things to play music. He is bored ad looking for something to do. He spots the waitress at the local bar and is instantly attracted. Little does he know the was once a groupie for his band. This book is full of twists and turns. It keeps you turning the pages.

I am all in on Christina Hovland and on this series. Linx and Becca were fun and funny but still thoughtful and had a great story of growth and love for us to follow. I flew through this book and will absolutely share this one with my romance reading friends.

*Thank you to NetGalley, Christina Hovland, and Victory for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

This is a spinoff to Christina Hovland's series "Mile high Matched Series". I have not read that, and I think this book is fine as a standalone.

Becca is a behavioral therapist on an extended "vacation" after experiencing a burn out. She has moved from Portland to Denver to live in her parents' loft. LInx is a rock star on hiatus from his band because his two bandmates needed a break. They meet at a bar that Brek, Linx's former band manager, owns and has hired Becca to bar tend at.

There is an interesting conundrum in this book as I feel the Author is trying to mesh too many genres in one novel. There is an element of cozy mystery humor with the elderly folks at a nursing home, which was a bit uncomfortable. There is romance between two characters who it doesn't seem to have a lot in common. Some steam is added, but it feels awkward as there has not been enough background between the two major characters. There is a cat whom one character seems obsessed with. All of it feels jumbled together to create a romance that feels disingenuous.

That being said, I enjoyed parts of this book and definitely laughed out loud at some parts. This book is an easy read, and while no one is really "played" by a rockstar, I can see how it would appeal to fans of this genre.

When does a vacation fling become something more?

Becca Forrester is a former groupie taking a break from her life as a behavioral counselor working at Brek’s bar when Cedric “Linx” Lincoln the bassist for Dimefront walked in the door. Linx just wants something to do while his band is on hiatus, but meeting Becca may be what they both need.

I loved Played by the Rockstar because you get two people that meet on vacation and have a fling but is it temporary or permanent? The book made me laugh because so many of the characters are over the top and I’m talking especially about Babushka and her cronies. Now I have to wait for the next book about Bax and Courtney!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved this. A little rockstar without being overwhelmingly rockstar. People who don’t read a ton because of reasons will understand exactly what I’m saying.
I loved Becca. A vacation from life sounds appealing sometimes, and that’s exactly what she’s decided she needs. The only thing to make that vacation even better? Some romps with a rocker also on a vacation from his life.
I found my newest book boyfriend in Linx. A man who can be swayed to going to a party by the promise of cake is my kind of guy.
A little sweet, a little heat, and a ton of belly laughs. Some cat shenanigans, some wildly inappropriate family members and the recipe for success is complete.

Linx isn't what I think of when I think of Typical rock stars. Then again Becca is not what I think of when I think of typical therapist either. They are cute together though.
