I honestly found this book confusing. The author says this is a standalone and each book can be read on their own (that's what standalone means). I can't help but if I would have been better off reading book 1 first in order to have a better idea of what was happening in this world.
My biggest gripe is that the sex was lack luster. This plot was heavily focused on the action which is fine but the cover is misleading. The cover tells me we're going to get some mind-blowing sex scenes. Instead I got two semi interesting sex scenes with the rest of the story being a poorly explained war between vamps and wolves. It's the plot holes for me.
This just didn't do it for me.
A seriously entertaining book in the Blood Wars series. Good solid writing and characters. The added bonus of the paranormal elements makes the story fly.
In a world of supernatural creatures is a war raging between the vampires and the werewolves. Keira, a vampire and wolf sympathizer, is fighting against her own to save werewolves. Michael, a werewolf legend, doesn’t trust her. When she rescues him, she finds the smell of his blood irresistible. Unfortunately vampires die when they drink werewolf blood. Michael is equally intrigued by her but there is no way for them to be together.
Opinion
The book seems to focus mostly on their infatuation with each other. I couldn’t help but root for them somehow ending up together.
The laws of supernaturals in this book are a bit different and fascinating. I often wonder about the differences in rules/laws authors have for them. This book seems to have a new take.
The book was quite enjoyable.
Many thanks to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC of this book.
I really enjoyed this story. Kiera and Michael's relationship was fun and sexy. Kiera was a great character. She is a total bad*ss while being incredibly protective of everyone she cares about. There were a couple inconsistencies in the story. But all in all it was a good story.
Zoe, a vampire, and Michael, a werewolf, are supposed to be mortal enemies. But, when Zoe meets a badly injured Michael in a dark alley in Paris she can't help saving him despite his insistence that he doesn't need or want her help. The two end up being star crossed lovers in an all-out vampire/werewolf war.
This story was a unique take on paranormal romance and I loved its originality. All the plot twists kept me turning the page until the very end. Plus, Michael is so swoon-worthy and it's fun to watch Zoe fall for him.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing an advanced reading copy for review. All opinions are my own.
Nightshade's Bite is definitely my favorite of the series so far. Before reading this I snagged The Way You Bite You Bite, but this one's a true standalone, so you could read this without reading book 1. There are character crossovers, so I'd recommend it.
Vampires, werewolves, druids... Hybrids... Possibly full out war. There's quite a bit happening, but a war is something no one wants. I liked that this was a bit different than other PNRs that I've read. It was fresh and I was intrigued the entire time.
Kiera and Michael, from the very beginning there's something strong going on between them and I'll admit when it comes to mates, these two would have been deemed forbidden. And just watching them navigate what was happening between them was interesting and yet something I don't come across in my other pnr reads.
I enjoyed the author's twists in this one. Loved some of the cameos of characters in the first book, we get a chance to learn more about the supporting characters. And I'm definitely rooting for more books in this series.
Can't wait for more books by Zoe.
I loved this book. I loved all the different manipulations by Kiera and her heart. She is remarkably steadfast. Her Mother was a bit of a shock but the Druid more so. The ending was perfect. I look forward to more from this author. I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and freely leave this honest review.
What a fantastic read! I have never read a book by Zoe Forward and I am so happy I have found this author! I will continue this series. This book can be read as a standalone or read within the series, whichever you prefer.
Kiera is a vampire who is also the Nighshade's League secret leader. There is an interspecies war between the vampires and the werewolves. There is also a virus that was unleashed that has infected the blood of humans. Kiera is a good person who tries to do good things. The purpose of Nighshade's league is they try to help werewolves who are caught in the middle of the war and need saved.
Michael is a werewolf and one of the top werewolves at that. He he is a war general and absolutely despises vampires. He would never go out of his way to help one. His blood is lethal to any vampire, one drop of his blood could kill any one of them.
One night Kiera rescues Michael and their connection is absolutely instant. They aren't safe though because neither of their species' elders would consent to their mixed relationship and they can't deny their feelings for each other.
This is a forbidden romance that is very steamy. I enjoyed this book from the very first chapter. It is very action packed where it never left me feeling like there was a lull in the story. I am looking forward to reading more from this author!
Kiera is a vampire and leader of the Nightshade Society. The Society helps wolves during the interspecies war. A virus was released and it has contaminated human blood. While on a mission, Kiera rescues a werewolf. Michael is a wolf and fights the vampires and hates them, until Kiera. One drop of Michael’s blood would kill Kiera but the attraction between them is too hot to ignore. The vampire elders want to kill the leader of Nightshade and will do anything to achieve that. Kiera brought Michael back from the brink of death but could it end up causing her death?
First time reading this author and I loved it. Vampires, werewolves, secrets, and deadly attraction. The characters are well written and the story is easy to follow.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *
Nightshade’s Blue by author Zoe Forward holds a lot of action and some likeable characters. Kiera’s character positively shines in the story.

I didn't read the first book - while there were moments in wondered about connections, I didn't feel lost so I'd say these can be a standalone.
Oh boy this ended up being so fun to read! I expected a super stuffy male who threw his weight around at an obnoxious female that thought she was infallible. I was wrong. All around. Kiera and Michael are phenomenal characters that bounce their chemistry and personalities off each other in ways that only feed the storyline an dmake it better. The secondary characters are also fantastic and I can't wait to see if we get their stories as well.
After writing this I'm gojng back and reading the first book because I've GOT to know how a Vampire King's daughter ends up with the Werewolf King!
This works as a standalone but as I write the first book in this series The Way You Bite is free on kindle.
So I was really interested in this different approach to paranormal romance and was very impressed with this the first book I've read by this author. A war between Vampires and Werewolves might not sound like the most original idea but it's definitely got a twist. We have hybrids, magic and even a virus that is affecting the blood that is safe for Vampires to drink. Add in families that most assuredly need counselling and yes this had a very different take on Vampires.
I won't rehash the plot but Keira is a very unusual heroine and she might divide opinions as she admits she's a do gooder who is also an adrenaline junky ! Pair her with Vampire hating Michael and you expect the sparks to fly and yet the author changed it up and made them instantly obsessed with each other. It's not instant romance exactly and occasionally I didn't really feel the dialogue between them as Kiera is convinced Michael has some type of allure mojo. This book definitely ended in a way I hadn't expected which lends itself to all sorts of possibilities especially considering that there's another sister but obviously my lips are sealed.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Nightshade's Bite was a 3.5 star read for me.
I was really into the story and enjoyed Kiera and Michael's relationship! There were several satisfying bursts of action. Kiera was a total bad*ss and incredibly protective of those she cared about.
There were a few things that kept this from being a 5 star read. There were inconsistencies that took me out of the story (e.g., the baby was described as 11 months old at first and 8 months later, there's also a scene where Kierra lets the baby sleep in her room and a couple of paragraphs later the baby is in her crib in another room).
Then there's how [(spoiler) Michael went on a dangerous mission by himself to rescue his baby, but then kind of wipes his hands of her once she's rescued. Her care was left to other people and it seemed like Kiera cared more about the baby than him. I know he just found out about the baby not too long ago, but I'm not used to books having fathers that don't attempt to bond with their kids and it's kind of a turn off. (end of spoiler)]
Despite those gripes, I'd still recommend this one. I'll likely read more from this author, as well!

I really enjoyed immersing myself in this world of vampires and werewolves where not everyone is as they seem. Kiera is part of a secret vampire group that saves werewolves from a killer vampire squad. One night, she meets Michael, a legendary werewolf warrior, who is under attack and horribly wounded. His ability to withstand pain is remarkable and he wants nothing to do with being saved. When Kiera saves him anyway, they begin a complicated relationship that turns into mutual respect and eventually love. Great paranormal romance.
DNF after a couple chapters. Didn’t grab my attention. The plot sounded very intriguing like the Underworld movies but I just couldn’t get into it.
Oh my, I could not put it down, I have never read this author, but will be reading more of her books. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. What do you do when the werewolf you are trying to save doesn’t want to be saved. Kiera is on a mission. When she runs across a vampire squad trying to take a werewolf, she decides he needs saving. The problem is she’s a vampire and Michael sees her as the enemy and trying to prevent him from completing his mission.
