Although I thought that this was going to be a picture book, This is a long book speaking about an elephant doctor and his time helping out an elephant.
This is a book for a young reader, but I think that parents should be sure that the subject matter (Elephants getting hurt or dying/kill) would not upset your child. I think this book is written very well, and I enjoyed this book a lot. My 11 year old daughter wants to be a vet when she grows up, so I read a lot of animal books written for middle grade/young readers. I love how the kid that gets close to an elephant that dies, so he decides to become a vet. I think this book will show kids that they can make a difference in the world. I also learned so much about elephants I did not know before reading this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Chicago Review Press) or author (Janie Chodosh) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
