I'm not sure if it was the story or the narration or both here, but I just didn't feel it with this couple. I know they're supposed to be fated mates and all, so they should be the perfect match, but Harper and Sebastian just did not work for me. The funny thing is that if I'm going to like a kidnap/hostage forced proximity romance, it's usually one with fated mates. I guess it's because the characters are kind of at fate's mercy from the start, but even that didn't help this romance. From Harper and Sebastian's reactions to each other to their conversations to their steamy scenes, it all felt forced.
There is some danger and a whodunit, but the bad guy is caricature-like and at the risk of giving a little something away, the bad guy's helper was doing them a favor? Umm... that's a mighty big favor. Then the ending was - well, it was out there.
Patrick Zeller narrated this first in Milly Taiden's Marked and Mated series, and as I mentioned at the beginning, there were some things that fell short in the narration as well as the story. His voice is pleasant enough, but it was like he was reading me a story that even he wasn't feeling. I don't know, maybe it was a case of wrong book, wrong time, but in the end, The Wolf's Royal Baby had too many eye-rolling moments, and not enough chemistry to pull me in.

The Wolf's Royal Baby (The Marked & Mated Series #1) by Milly Taiden
Narrated by Patrick Zeller
Publisher: OrangeSky Audio
Genre: Romance
Release Date: February 23, 2021

The Wolf's Royal Baby is the first book in The Marked & Mated Series by Milly Taiden. This is the first book I've read by the author and it will not be the last.

I really enjoyed this book. It felt like a re-imagining of Beauty and the Beast (which is one of my favorites) and felt really magical. This was fast paced and very steamy. There are shifters and a mystery so I am here for it!

The narration by Patrick Zeller was good. He gave life to the story.

Overall, I really enjoyed this novella. This is a quick read with a great story, awesome characters, shifters, and steamy romance!

I'm so grateful to Milly Taiden, OrangeSky Audio, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

I had this one in audio and it was a quick listen. Insta-attraction (sorta) meets Beauty and the Beast meets shifters. I pretty much gave up on paranormals in the last few years but since this was in audio I gave it a try and it was okay. There was an emotional spark lacking but it was pretty predictable. Harper is kidnapped and delivered to Sebastian who needs her to have his baby or he is going to die. Little does she know she was sold out by her father, the waste of breath, and someone is plotting to kill her. Will true love win out before her demise or Sebastian's?

I listened to the audiobook of The Wolf's Royal Baby. The narrator was very good. He had a great voice and was perfect for this book.
I found the story to be just ok. It was a bit repetitive and lacking action. I liked Harper and Sebastian but wanted more character development.

* listened to the audiobook

So while I loved the narrator for this book the story could use more. I’m not sure why Sebastien waited so long to claim Harper but leaving fate to the last minute is never a good idea!

Narration: Narrator saved this book! Very sexy voice! The inflection between voices was great and I enjoyed his growly voice.

What did I like? Well the story itself is all over the place. We start with a beauty and the beast tale. Beast needs baby to live cursed by a witch. Idea was great but delivery was slow. The way the chapters ended though was weird. The next chapter picks up where previous chapter left off.

Would I recommend or buy? Would definitely listen to the narrator again... read from this author... maybe if something caught my eye. This was novella sized so maybe a more fleshed out book.

Thanks to Netgalley for the audiobook and voluntarily left this review.

Patrick Zeller narrated the audiobook, he is new to me, I liked his voice, sometimes the pacing was a bit fast for an audiobook but overall he did a good job. The editing was good as expected. As for the story, it felt a bit short, I was expecting more. Harper and Sebastian's story was interesting but the character build felt a bit young than expected, there are some plot holes, I enjoyed it overall but definitely expected more.

Exciting romance novella that stands to be fleshed out. The plot and characters had lots of potential but the book was so short that chunks of story felt like they were missing.

Listened to the audiobook. While the narrator did a good job, I prefer when female POvs are narrated by women but thats just me. The main problem with the audiobook was the volume. It was hard to listen to because it would dip then rise.

I want to start by saying there is nothing really wrong with this novella. The author was going for a short werewolf paranormal romance story, and she accomplished that. However, the plot line didn’t really make sense. The hero of the story first met the heroine 8 years before the story takes place. Even though he know that she was his mate, he waited 8 years to kidnap her (it’s a beauty and the beast retelling). What can I say, I want my paranormal romances to make sense.

I’m also not sold on the narrator of the audiobook. The narration was fine, but I didn’t like that even though a lot of the story was in the heroines perspective, the narrator was a man. I prefer duel perspective romances to have two narrators.

My rating is 2.5 stars, rounded up to three stars.

I picked this up for the Farofeb readathon.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I found The Wolf’s royal baby an enjoyable quick read. Harper and Sebastian met earlier at a prom and Sebastian knows she is his mate. Years later Sebastian abducts Harper in a beauty and the beast retelling. If you like quick steamy read this is a good one. I know I will continue on with the other books in the series

I wasn't a huge fan of this book. Harper gets abducted from her home because her father owes these wolves money.. a lot of money. Harper's dad traded her for the debt. Sebastian saw Harper years ago and knew instantly that she was his mate.. instead of courting her, he made sure her father was in his debt.

I don't actually mind the story line. I get it. He's an alpha wolf. I really didn't like Harper. I feel like there weren't a whole lot of great qualities about her.

I did enjoy the sexy scenes. They were very well written.

This audiobook was just ok for me. While Harper and Sebastian are great together, there really isn’t any character development. And the story is very predictable. I liked the side characters but I don’t think I will continue with the series. The narrator was just ok too.

Cursed by a witch, Sebastian, a shifter king, must find his mate and have a child before his 35th birthday. Harper is his mate. Convincing her to have his baby has Sebastian working overtime.
Opinion
I listened to the audiobook. The narrator has a strong sexy quality to his voice. I could listen to him read a dictionary all day long.
The story is a retelling of beauty and the beast with a shifter twist. Since I love fairy tales, I requested this one and was not disappointed. Though this is a short book, it is a nice twist on a classic. To my knowledge, there are four more in the series. If they are anything like this one, they’ll be great books.
Many thanks to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC of this audiobook.

I found this utterly gripping, right from the start, so ended up listening to the whole book in one go. The heroine is very engaging and easy to identify with, while the hero is the perfect mix of alpha possessiveness and disarming sensitivity. I’m not usually a fan of male narrators, but this one is perfect for this book and really brings the characters to life. The story itself is wonderfully romantic, with a touch of suspense to keep things interesting! This is a book I know I’ll enjoy coming back to in the future.
