Das Bilderbuch "The wonderland alphabet" ist eine wunderbare Hinführung in die Welt der Buchstaben und des ABCs. Es zeigt lebhafte Illsutrationen und verpackt die Geschichte so, dass man sich die Bilder gerne auch öfter anschaut. Einzelne Doppelseiten lassen sich gut bei der Buchstabeneinführung nutzen, um damit den Einstieg zu gestalten.

I will admit that the cover of this book turned me off at first. It was so brown and un colorful and I expect Alice in wonderland to be colorful! Once I got into the book I was greatly surprised.

The illustrations are fun and more sophisticated then are usually seen in a children’s picture book. The artist played with the layout of words to make the whole thing visually stunning. My favorite illustrated letter was the Knave. He’s on bended knee like he is proposing to someone, but has in his hand a cherry pie, as if he can’t live with out it.

The writing was well done, but sometimes a stretch for the rhymes to work out completely, but a brace and decent attempt. My favorite letter is S for Sister, because one sits and reads to the other. That must be the librarian in me.
