This was just okay for me. It took me a while to get invested and get to know these characters. I did enjoy their dates and thought it was fun but overall just wasn’t invested in the romance.
The Dating Dare by Jayci Lee was a fun whirlwind of a story. Even though this is a continuation of the universe of 'A Sweet Mess,' this is technically a stand alone. The two have history when they meet again at a wedding, which drives them to go on a date.
With the whimsy humor of, "I dare you to date me..." The three dates that they go on are all unique and charming. There are fun tropes in this story, especially if you are a fan of the third act break up. I would continue reading in this universe to learn more about the characters that Jayci Lee creates.
An emotional romance that explores the complexities of relationships, featuring a fun and bold heroine and a charming hero, with a touch of humor and a chance at forever love.
"The Dating Dare" by Jayci Lee is a charming romantic comedy centred around Tara Park and Seth Kim. Tara, who works at her family's brewery, is not interested in serious relationships due to a past emotionally abusive relationship. At her best friend's wedding, Tara meets Seth, the brother-in-law of the bride. A friendly game of Truth or Dare leads them to agree on an uncomplicated four-date arrangement. As they spend more time together, their initial casual setup begins to evolve into something deeper and more meaningful.
The primary themes in "The Dating Dare" include vulnerability, the fear of getting hurt, and the journey toward healing and opening up to love again. The book explores how past experiences shape one's approach to new relationships and highlights the importance of trust and emotional courage.
Overall, "The Dating Dare" is a delightful read that combines humour, romance, and emotional depth. Jayci Lee has crafted a story that is both entertaining and heartwarming, making it a perfect choice for fans of contemporary romance.
An enjoyable romance about two relative strangers who agree to go on four dates and not fall in love. A quick read and second book in a series.
The Dating Dare by Jayci Lee is a delightful fit for readers who adore lighthearted, emotional, and humorous contemporary romance stories with a dash of fake dating and enemies-to-lovers tropes, and are looking for a sweet and sexy tale of self-discovery and second chances at love.
The Dating Dare by Jayci Lee is second book in the series. I liked this one more than first book. The Story is enjoyable.
I would recommend it to all readers.
This was a fun audiobook to listen to! I really like the narrator of it. I enjoyed the story. I wasn't in love with it. I wish there was more of a internal fight with the feelings for each other. I feel like they did this whole dare, but were in love by the middle of the first date. I just wanted more angst and banter with it. The characters were fine. I didn't connect to any of them on a deep level. Overall, the book was average to me. I enjoyed my time reading it, but I didn't love it.
I did not finish the book. Characters in romcoms often frustrate me in the beginning since the author clearly wants to show growth and shift in pov through the book, but I knew that I didn't like these characters at their core and didn't care about them.
A dare turned into a going on borrowed time. What could it hurt to have one little fling before moving? Apparently absolutely everything. A dare turned into so much more.
I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Forgot to submit a review of this earlier but I absolutely loved it. Jayci Lee is a phenomenal writer and this book was so fun!
A fun, quick romance read that I overall enjoyed from beginning till end, but did have some remarks as well. It was just that for me; fun and quick, which is sometimes all you need. But Overall, it was just okay-ish, you know? The writing didn’t stood out to me that much and the story-line and elements are predictable and standard. Was fun to read, but not sure I’ll be picking up the other companion novel of this book.
Sweet and romantic contemporary love story with two protagonists who both have been burnt by previous relationships and are hesitant to love again! I enjoyed the romantic dates and the way both the guy Seth and the girl Tara were fearful because of past relationships because that is like real life. As someone who got married later in life than her friends, you are more vulnerable to people because of previous hurts. The key is to be present and not judge the current situation based on the past. Sexy love scenes and predictable ending but I liked the story.
I started reading this one, but by around 25% ish I just wasn't feeling the book. It could be because I'm in a weird reading funk. Characters were great with a lot of personality, yet they weren't clicking. Maybe at some point in the future I'll pick it back up, but for now. It wasn't the right time for me to keep going.
Thank you SMP Romance and NetGalley for the eARC of The Dating Dare. All opinions in this review are my own.

Unfortunately, I didn't like the banter between the two characters and once Tara threw up on Seth's shoes because she was drunk, I knew that was it for me. Tara and Seth just seem too immature for me.
A little emotional after her best friends wedding, Tara plays a game of truth or dare with the best friend’s brother-in-law Seth. What could go wrong after they end up with a dating plan? Tara and Seth‘s meetings are fun, emotional, and a little steamy. Time will tell if the two of them will end up with something more serious in the end.
This was a sweet and cute love story. I enjoyed seeing these two get their happily ever after. This was the first from this author for me and it won't be my last.
This book was just sadly not for me! I was hoping for something different but it turned out to be something I was not expecting, which is okay and I'm sure someone else would love it!
I liked so much of this book - the dialogue, the characterizations, the chemistry, but I kept tripping over the unnecessary conflict. It felt artificial and forced - not that I didn't enjoy spending with more time with the characters, but I was ready for them to resolve their differences and be in love!
