Since Emily's mother passed away three years ago, her life has been a mess. Quickly, the summer before her final year of high school arrives but Emily and her dad are still grieving. Her best friend, Kiera, is away at summer camp and the rest of her other friends are distant since she broke up with Matt.

Emily's dad's best friend moves back in town along with his daughter, Blake. As they clean out Emily's house for sale, the two girls find a list of things Emily's mother wanted to do the summer of her senior year. Suddenly, Emily's summer has just gotten a lot more interesting.

Rachael Lippincott has written another book! When it was first announced, I was super excited to read it and I'm so lucky to get a copy.

It was really fun following Emily and Blake's adventure as they completed each item on the list, and I loved the way the author created their town. It seemed small but had everything in it so a very cozy feeling.

Overall, The Lucky List was an interesting read about two girls' summer as they face the truths in their lives. Rachael Lippincott's solo debut is one that is not to miss and perfect for the summer season.

If you want to read a fantastic book, read this. If you want to stay up too late, read this. If you want to ignore all the stuff you should be doing, read this. It's not suspenseful or scary. This is just a great book that lets you feel all the feels.
When Emily finds her deceased mom's checklist for a fantastic summer, Emily decides to complete it herself. In doing so, she does much more than complete the list, as you suspect. As I read this book, it wasn't just Emily that found out more about herself. I found that I was not only entertained and moved, but I also did a little introspection as well. I couldn't wait to read what would happen next. At the same time, I didn't want the book to end. Please, Rachael Lippincott, can we have a sequel?
I was given a galley of this book from the publisher and netgalley.com, but the opinions are my own.

I was unable to open the book, but the description sound perfect for our YA section! And the cover is delightful.

The Lucky List begins with Emily, our main character, heading to bingo night with her dad three years after her mom died. She's lonely after a prom-night break up with her on-and-off boyfriend, which has made her a social pariah, and her best friend is away at a summer camp. Bingo night proves to be a turning point though, with her dad's best friend moving back to town with his daughter, Blake, who's the same age as Emily. They strike up a friendship and Blake helps Emily through grief as Emily and her dad pack up their old house, full of memories with her mom, to move to a new one. While packing, they find a list Emily's mom made of all the things she wanted to do before her senior year-which Emily decides to do herself before her own senior year starts, with a push from Blake. This leads to tons of self-discovery and Emily unlocking who she really is.

This was a sweet, fast read. I immediately liked and empathized with both Emily and Blake, and watching their friendship grow and develop felt natural and fun. It was an uplifting read when it could have been a downer. This book would be great for anyone who enjoys YA fiction, encouraging stories where one discovers themself, and likes to read things that make you go, "I shouldn't waste time living a unfulfilling life."

Thanks to Netgalley and Simon & Schuster for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Emily is a teen whose mom died three years before the book begins. Her dad is gettng ready to sell their house, so Emily starts to go through her mom's things. She finds a bucket list that her mom wrote out in high school. And she decides that maybe this bucket list needs to be completed; these are the things her mom wanted to do in her life anyway, so why not? A sweet story with a good message.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. In The Lucky List we find Emily, who's mom passed away three years ago. Emily feels out of place and needs to find some fun in her world. As her dad gets ready to sell their house to downsize, Emily starts going through her mother's items. She finds her mom's senior year summer bucket list and Blake suggests Emily also completes that list. It creates lots of fun in her life and she starts to find her place. A coming-of-age novel that I think many teens will relate to.

Loved, loved this book about Emily finding her mom’s bucket list and wanting to keep her mom’s memory alive decides before her senior year begins she will try to do everything on the list. While trying to find the courage to do things on the list, Emily is dealing with an incident where she hurt her boyfriend Matt’s feelings. Her dad’s best friend has moved here and she is making friends with his daughter, Blake. Blake helps Emily gain enough confidence to tackle the list and helps her realize that you need to live your life and that tomorrow is never guaranteed. As Emily and Blake work together on the list, Emily finds she has feeling for Blake who is gay. Emily has also fixed her relationship with Matt. Emily finds her mom’s list has led her to real happiness and Emily realizes she need to live her life fearlessly. Who will she end up with? Matt or Blake?

Thank you NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest opinion. The Lucky List is a story about Emily who's mom passed away three years ago. Emily feels out of place in the world as she enters the summer before her senior year. Her best friend is away for the summer and after a breakup with her boyfriend, she's not having much fun. Blake moves to town and becomes a friend to Emily. Emily's dad is selling the house so that they can downsize to a more affordable place. Emily starts going through her mother's items so they can prepare to move. She finds her mom's senior year summer bucket list and Blake suggests Emily also completes that list. Emily and Blake spend the summer doing just that. This was beautifully written. The characters came to life for me. This is a coming-of-age YA novel that you do not want to miss out on.
