This a book of humorous observations on life as a nurse. It would make a fun, uplifting gift for any nurse in your life as I'm sure they would be able to relate to so much in the book.
A book to pick up as a nurse when you need a pick me up to make you smile.
What it Means to Be a Nurse is a very relatable book. Read it in one sitting a few hours ago in honor of Nurse's Week. Funny and very topical.
This was a cute quirky book full of nursing humor. Would make a great gift for any nurse in your life. Short read. Would love to have a copy to keep on the coffee table.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the ability to read and review this work.
Reading through this book helped me to better understand what my son (a 2020 nursing grad) is dealing with on a daily basis. I have tremendous respect for nurses and paging through this new release has only reinforced my opinions. It is a bit like leafing through a 'page-a-day' calendar. There are tips, humorous sayings, inspirational quotes, and more. Hint: pick this up as a Mother's Day gift for your favorite mom or grandma in the profession.
Thank you to Adams Media and NetGalley for a DRC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you Netgalley and Adams Media for access to this arc.
I’ve read and reviewed several books about doctors but not as many about nurses. Several of my best friends are or were nurses (and one has a daughter about to graduate from nursing school) so I decided to check out what you had to say. The book is like a condensed version of inspirational posters or what you might find on mugs or notepaper but as someone who has been on the receiving end of a pain medication, I can attest to how hard working and caring nurses are. Also, all my nurse friends are funny, witty, and good looking. ;) Thank you nurses for all that you do. B
I thought this book will be full of heartwarming stories, funny one, quirky patients and so on. BUT, I found a hidden gems in the book.
A book made, actually, not only for nurses, but patients, and other human beings to remind us how to preserve our sanity, mostly during confinement. For nurses to reminiscent those moments. For patients, so we can reduced our whining during our hospital stay, or even to compliment the nurses that cared for us. And for all others, we all need encouragement, right?
This wasn't what i thought it would be, but it was a laugh! It was more for nurse's in America though. Though you could still relate. I've only heard of these things happening but I am preparing myself to start as a Health Care Assistant so it's nice to have those as a heads up. I definitely did laugh out loud as some of them reminded me of when I was a Vet Nurse so I could relate on some of those parts. A nice easy, giggling quoted book.
Thank you, NetGalley, for allowing me to preview this book. This book really meant alot to me, as a nurse. Smiles, laughter, kind thoughts, giggles... it has it all. Sometimes nurses just need a little reminder as to why we decided to be in this profession. This book really hits the mark. In nice little stories or snippets that can be read for inspiration or when you are just in the need for a giggle, This is a wonderful book.

This quick little read makes a great coffee table book for nurses and those that love them. As the daughter of a retired nurse, I can still relate to a lot of this book. My mom really enjoyed her nursing career and I might just have to buy this book for her.
When I first requested this book, I thought it would be more like stories from nurses but the cute layout and meme style of this book was a nice surprise.
This book has meme's all about nurses. I was thinking that it was going to be a reading book rather than a book full of memes. If you have a nurse in your life, this would be a great present for them.
I have been a nurse for over twenty years and can honestly relate to every single line in this witty, humorous book. I read this on a day off and found myself relaxing and laughing out loud. I want to share it with every nurse I know just so we can enjoy some lighter moments together. Nurses are often accused of dark humor, but this book shows the reality of our days and sometimes, all you can do to cope and press on is laugh. Thank you for penning all these thoughts, observations and experiences to bring a smile to others. I enjoyed I received a complimentary from the publisher on NetGalley and all opinions expressed are my own, freely given.
The formatting of this book was out of alignment and I found it impossible to read. I think it would have been an enjoyable book.
Great illustrations, I thought some of them were really funny even thought I don’t work as a nurse.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
I loved this. As a nurse, I was curious what this book might be like - but it was fun and easy to read. Lots of great quotes. It was more of a "picture" book than a novel, but it would make the perfect gift for someone in nursing school or someone interested in joining the field.
Nursing humour can be dark and twisted at times but that's what it takes to get through some truly horrific days especially now. This is a light, funny insightful look at the way we nurses handle the bizarre and oftentimes unimaginable situations that are our working day. I could relate to each post and I laughed out loud. This is the perfect gift for any nurse in your life.
I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own
I thought that this book was brilliant!
With everything that the wonderful Nurses have been through with the Covid-19 pandemic this will hopefully give them a well earned smile and break and chance to have a giggle.
The book is well laid out and I loved the phrases used and the little snippets here and there - this would be a great present to give to any Nurse friends and relatives too - a great present to celebrate those recently qualified, those retiring as a reminder or those that just need a smile - it's like a warm hug in a book and a really positive read!
It is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended!
Thankyou to NetGalley and Adams Media for the opportunity to read an advanced readers copy of What It Means To Be A Nurse in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.
What a funny and uplifting book. Such a good read and oh, so true. I read this book in one sitting.
Well worth a read, especially if you are a nurse.
I loved, loved, loved this book! Why? Well, let’s say this nurse can relate to so much of it and was relieved to know that others shared my same sense of nursing humor. I read it all in one setting and was disappointed when I finished it. I laughed out loud on several pages ( ie; dc catheter and add lasix!). I appreciated the “Tiny Blessings” because I’ve lived them... hello, favorite pens! I groaned along with “Drs orders that make you groan” (eye gtts q1hr). This little gem of a book would make the perfect gift for any new nursing graduate as well as any seasoned nurse.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Adams Media for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I am looking forward to publication to share this book as a gift to colleagues.
