I love Danielle Steel books, I have read everything she has written and i have yet to be disappointed!! I cannot wait for the next book
Danielle Steel is famous for her books that revolve around families and strong women who overcome adversities. NINE LIVES follow the same format.
As she grew up, Mary Margaret watches her mother live with the consequences of her father's daredevil actions that led to his death when young. She learned to value safe decisions and lead a life without challenges. Then fate deals her the hand she has spent her life trying to avoid. Her journey is compelling as we see her take small steps toward adventure only to leap when we had given up on her.
Another great book from the queen of dramatic romances.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Delacorte Press for the opportunity to review this book.
It's Danielle Steel - what's not to love?
I enjoyed it very much!
A story with so much love and so much heartache. Maggie had to decide when she had enough and when to trust in fate. She has lost all of the men in her life when she enters a risky relationship. But now she has to protect herself and her son! Will Paul wake up to reality before it is too late?
I have read and loved so many of her books and this one fell short for me. It was as if her heart wasn’t fully in it like it has been for most of her books. The story had a lot of potential but it was dull and not was i was expecting.
Danielle Steel never writes a bad book. Real-world stories, no matter how traumatic and painful. This is full of realistic characters and a storyline that make you feel like you need nine lives. Her writing is true and raw, and something to be admired. Sometimes I find them a bit hard to get into at first, but the story flows well. Thanks to the author, Netgalley, and the publisher for allowing me to review.

I have been a fan of Danielle Steel’s since I was a teenager and have rarely not enjoyed a book from her. And thankfully I enjoyed this story as I usually do.
In this one we meet Maggie who left her first love when they were teenagers because her mom convinced her he was too much of a daredevil to give her any support and a good life. She settled for a man who could give her exactly what her mother said she needed.
But 30 years later she meets her first love and the question of “is fate telling her something” is what she needs to decide.
So on a personal note this happened to me. I met up with my high school love 30 years later and we are now happily married. No it wasn’t for the same reasons as in the story but I felt I had a connection with Maggie as I read this story. Maybe more than any of Steel’s other stories.
Another great story from one of the queens of women’s lit/romance.

This is an author I never hesitate to pick up. She was my 1st "Adult" author and gave me my love for reading. Her books are well written and her use of details gave the story a realistic feel. This book is no different. I always love Danielle Steel
Nine Lives by Danielle Steele is a haunting book filled with love, hope, despair and triumph. It reminds you of how fragile life is, and we all should be embracing and enjoying live, rather than sheltering ourselves from possible pain and loss. Ms. Steele paints the perfect picture in your mind of the journey through life, love, loss and triumph. Well done Danielle Steele!
Another winner for Danielle Steel! Nine Lives focus on the life of Maggie, who lost her father to a Navy accident and then her brother to an accident while he is in the Marines. Her mother never recovers and had always warned Maggie to focus on a spouse who is not an adrenaline junkie. In high school, she was involved with Paul, who was an adrenaline junkie. She meets her husband, whose job is an accountant, and is the 180 degree opposite of being an adrenaline junkie. They have one son, Aden. On a flight to New York during a snow storm, Maggie loses her husband in a tragic accident. Between his insurance policy and the payout from the airlines, Maggie now finds herself a rich woman. With Aden in college, she decides to travel to Europe. During a side trip to Monte Carlo, she finds Paul, who is now a successful race car driver and a full blown adrenaline junkie. However, the heart wants what the heart wants and she finds herself, after 30 years, in a full relationship with Paul. After a series of accidents, Maggie breaks up with Paul, fearing she can not deal with burying someone else that she loves. Paul must decide what rush means more to him - the adrenaline rush or the rush of having a loving family.
Great character development. Maggie is a formidable character who you want to root for, as well as a happy ending for her and Paul after all the heartache she had suffered.
This was a very enjoyable story and was a great beach read. Who doesn’t want that thrill? Ms. Steele does it again with her relatable characters and situations.
Many thanks to Random House Publishing and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Another great book. This one is about a woman who loses several family members due to what she sees as high risk behavior. How she settles into a “ safe” life and how she handles unexpected life changes but gets HEA in the end.
#Nine Lives by author #Danielle Steel reminds me of her earlier novels. With the family, feelings and drama. You just want to keep reading and block out the world. You can't help but fall in love with her main character. This is exciting and a comfort.
Thank you for the advance copy,

Nine Lives by Danielle Steel takes you into the safe life of Mary. As a daughter of a fighter pilot, moving around constantly and knowing danger was everywhere, she heeded the advice of her mother and played it safe when it came to love. She married an accountant and had the safest life ever. Having one on, Aden, Mary loved her safe, predictable life she and her husband had built. On a whim , they decided to fly into New York and tragedy struck, leaving Mary a widow. Years later after the shock wore off, Mary started living again being nudged by friends. And just like that, Paul show up, her high school boyfriend. Paul helps Mary live again and see that life can be anything but predictable and safe. But above all, love always wins.
Nine Lives was a so-so read for me. I found it very easy to read, actually reading it over a two day period. But the subject matter and characters just didn't grab me and keep me engaged. Special thanks to NetGalley, Danielle Steel, and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Delacorte Press Publishing for the advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest opinion. 3.5 stars for me.

Danielle Steel always pulls you into her stories right from the first page and Nine Lives does exactly that! Sometimes playing it safe is not a great way to live! Avoiding people and situations that seem unsafe hasn't played out very well for Maggie. After suffering so much loss in her life she just happens to meet up with her first love and wonders if this could be the real thing! Love the traveling in the book and going to places that we currently can only dream of visiting!
This is an author I have been reading for years. I never hesitate to pick up one of her books. They are well written stories that the author's use of details make her stories realistic. This book is no different. I loved being pulled into the story by the characters. They are connectable, engaging and brought the story to life on each page. This is a story that is written with alot of heart and lots of emotion. It is a story about life, romance, and walking the tightrope known as life. This is such a great story and one of my favorites by this author. This is so worth the pick up and I highly recommend this book and this author.
Mary Margaret. Has suffered many tragedies in her lifetime. Seconds love in a man who is easy and will never break her heart , but is that love or just comfort? Her life seems perfect until she suffers another great loss. Left alone she must somehow make herself go on. She decides to travel and meets an old love but she is forced to make a life changing decision. A beautiful story of love, loss, and second chances. I highly recommend this book and I can't say how much I loved it!
Mary Margaret Kelly tried to life a "safe" life, not taking chances. She lost her father, an Air Force pilot, early in her life. Her mother always reminded her to choose a "good" boy, not a "bad boy". As much as she was warned to avoid the adventurous type, that is what she is drawn to. Her teenage boyfriend wanted a life of adventure. This scared Maggie. She chose a more conventional husband, had a son. After tragedy strikes, she seeks adventure and reconnects with her first love.
The author makes you feel as if you are right there experiencing this story. I understood Maggie and felt what she felt. This was a quick read because I wanted to see what would happen next! When I need to read something that will keep my attention, incorporates beautifully described settings and leave me with a feel-good feeling, I seek a book by this author.

Thank you Danielle Steel and NetGalley for the ARC. I think I have been reading Danielle Steel my entire life, no really my Mom is a die hard so I ALWAYS request when available. This one was a quick read for me and left me wanting more. I felt the story was predictable and followed the similar story lines of today. Ohhh we are going to Europe, hey that guy is hot and LOVE. This one was just ok for me.
Wow, this story was a quick read, but if you want a sappy romance this might not be for you. The first part of the story is really sad. The main character Maggie, has a lot of loss in her life due to the men in her life being adrenaline junkies, and the thought of someone else she loves risking their life terrifies her. So she goes the safe route, and marries the safest person she can find, an accountant. The universe is cruel sometimes though and Maggie's life takes another tragic turn. Seriously, though Maggie needs a break. The story while somewhat predictable is an entertaining story, that goes by fast. Although sometimes I felt like there was too much details given, I did enjoy the story.
