Thank you netgalley and the publisher for an e-arc in exchange for a review. This book I finished in a day. Maggie’s father a test pilot and her mother was always worried something would happen to him. When Maggie’s high school boyfriend is addicted to danger her mother insists she quit seeing him. They go their separate ways and she married a stable man who gives her a good life. During the story she runs into her ex boyfriend again. I won’t spoil it—It was kind of predictable but it was a quick read. .

Loved the book. As usual Danielle Steel did it again. The beginning started out so as to keep a reader wanting to read more. Kept me in suspense to the end.

Wonderful! I was grabbed instantly from the beginning all the way to the end. The characters are so alive and vivid and believable. I loved the incredible theme of this story and felt it tug on my heart. I hadn’t read any of Danielle Steeles books for several years, and I’m not sure why. This incredible book has me wanting to read more of her wonderful writing. #ninelives #daniellesteele

Another good chick lit story from my go-to author for a light summer book. It's probably closer to 3.5 stars for me. This was a good story; I enjoyed Maggie's character, and Paul's. It was desperately predictable though; I know many of my reviews of Danielle Steel books comment on the predictability of them, but this was obvious from beginning to end. Despite that, I liked the premise and the relationships between all of the characters. If you've read Danielle Steel before, this is pretty typical of her books; if this is your first Danielle Steel book, it's a good one to start with.

When tragedy strikes again she has a choice…. Follow her mom’s advice or live for herself. Another great read by Danielle Steel.

Yay!! All the ingredients for a Danielle Steel-quality escape! Fiirst, mix 2 parts tragedy with one part romance, then sprinkle in tough decisions, loneliness and a little adventure to get your next beach read! Maggie's ups and downs weren't too extreme and Aden was a typical kid. I have no suggestions or complaints and very much enjoyed this summer beach read. Thanks to #netgalley for the opportunity to preview #NineLives by Danielle Steel. I flew through it, and it was the perfect escape.

Maggie loses her father and her brother at a young age. Both due to aircraft tragedy. From then on Maggie's mother has insisted on living life on the safe side. This has been pressed into Maggie's brain and as a result Maggie chooses a safe life with accountant husband Brad. But Maggie eventually learns that a safe life does not prevent bad things from happening.
Will a chance encounter with a former high school boyfriend change her mind about the dangers of adventurous men? Maybe.
I lot of info was provided in the first few chapters, which seemed rushed to me. I think a slower paced background would have been better. It was almost like a review of a previous book in a series. Except this is a stand alone book. With that being said , it was a great story and I liked it A quick and easy read like most of Steel's books these days.

Thanks to netgalley and Delacorte Press for the arc.

I usually don't read this author, but I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it. The characters were very interesting and right from the start I was drawn in by so much tragedy in so short a time. I really enjoyed the twists it took especially at the end. I will definitely recommend this book.

Nine Lives by Danielle Steel is a stand-alone Women’s Fiction novel. Mary Margaret Kelly (Maggie) is our heroine, and the story totally focuses on her life. When she was 9 years old, she lost her Air force pilot father to a plane crash, and a few years later lost her brother to another plane crash. Maggie’s mother constantly tells her to never become involved with wild daredevil men, who are risk takers and will cause terrible heartache. Her mother remarried to a simple kind man, who had a safe job catering; but after the loss of her son, she mother slowly died of a broken heart.

When Maggie gets a job working at an accountant office, she will eventually marry Brad, a kind and wonderful husband, who takes over the business from his father. She is happy in her safe life with Brad, and adores her young son, Aden. Years later, when on a vacation, there is plane crash, with Maggie surviving, but Brad drowning; Maggie is now a widow, with her teenage son. Maggie is shocked to learn that Brad had a large insurance policy, and the airline paid her a huge sum of money, making her very rich, which she will keep private. While in mourning for Brad, her neighbor friend visits her to help her get out of her grief and begin to move on with her life; convincing her to take a trip somewhere where she has never gone to, and enjoy the change of scenery. With Aden going away to college, Maggie decides to plan her trip, which will take her on a wonderful journey to San Francisco, Rome, Paris, Monaco & London. It was really nice to see all the places in Europe that Maggie visited, with Steel giving us wonderful glimpses on many landmark sites. Nicely done.

One night Maggie visits a casino, and to her surprise, someone calls out to her. She is shocked to see Paul, her high school sweetheart from 30 years ago, whom she broke off with, since he was a ‘risk taker’. Paul Gilmore is now a famous race car driver, as well as an expert risky skier; who loves his thrill-seeking life. The two rekindle their friendship, as he takes her to his yacht, where she enjoys the sun, food, ocean and company, as well as seeing his homes. When she returns to America, she tells her friend and her son about Paul, saying they are only friends, even if Paul still has strong feelings for Maggie.

What follows is a sweet romance between Maggie and Paul, with Aden finding himself liking Paul a lot (since he loves the same things that Paul does). Maggie spends her free time meeting Paul in Europe, but she knows he still takes awful risks in racing cars and skiing, with him teasing her that he has “nine lives”. After an accident, where Paul is hurt, she realizes this is exactly what she was afraid of; but once he is well again, he does resume his events, which brings fears to Maggie again. When a major avalanche threatens Paul’s life, she brings him home to Chicago to take care of him. Will Maggie stay with Paul, if he returns to his thrill-seeking days? Will Paul give up his life style?

Nine Lives was a wonderful story that was very well written by Danielle Steel. This is story of a women who played it safe all her life, and finds herself between fears, courage or a love and safe. I wholly suggest you read Nine Lives.

NINE LIVES By Danielle Steele
Contemporary fiction
320 pages

In Danielle Steeles newest book we have Maggie Kelly, she has a idyllic childhood until her father passes in a plane crash.  She adored her father and her world came crashing down when he passed. Maggie, her mother, and her brother move from town to town trying to support themselves. Then yrs later her brother is killed at war.  This second death breaks her mother and determined to never suffer a loss like that again her mother married a safe dependable man. Maggie's mother instills in Maggie to stay away from what she calls daredevil men and to marry safe. Daredevils will always break your heart. Maggie follows her advice and get married to an accountant.  They go on to have a child and live happily for twenty yrs until tragedy strikes again. Now Maggie must learn to live life on her own and see what life has in store for her in her newly widowed world.

I am an avid Danielle Steele fan and have been reading her books for 23 yrs. Each one is a different unique story and I don't know how she does it. Ms Steele continues to write amazing, heartfelt, romantic, but real stories and I hope we have many many years worth of stories from her. I highly recommend this book.

I am a big fan of Danielle Steel and have read every one of her books! Not one over many years did I not like. This novel like all of the others is like coming home, being with your best friend, all the feels of a heartfelt story. I constantly marvel at her ability to write about such different subjects over the years. This story is about Maggie, who has lived through many tragedies and was taught by her Mother to play it safe always. Maggie has to decide after tragedy effects her "safe" life choices, whether to follow her heart and take chances!

I am a Danielle Steel fan but the info dumping at the beginning of her latest books was just too much. I couldn't get into it as much as I would have liked.

Maggie Kelly has faced her hair share of grief. She's always chosen the safe road after losing her father at a young age and watching her mother shut down after the loss of her son. She took the safe route and had been happy a a eye and mother. But when tragedy strikes her carefully structured safe life she's ready to explore new opportunities. Taking a trip to Europe as a way to heal and find her new happy takes an unexpected detour when she runs into her first love.
Paul is everything her mother warned her about, thrill seeking professional race car driver who looks at risk as a game. Their pull is still there after thirty years apart. And the only thing keeping them from each other is fear that one more risk could bring it all down.
I've been a long time reader of Danielle Steele, I'll admit it's been years since I've picked up one of her books and I'm not disappointed. She creates Strong characters and the story that draws you in she deals with hard topics with ease. And the jet setting environments allow you to Is immerse yourself into the story and really feel like you've experienced some of these far reaching vistas.

Danielle Steel's latest focuses on Maggie who experiences loss due to the adventurous nature of the men in her life. When her husband dies she has to decide how she will move ahead and how she will have a full life and be able to deal with her fears. I enjoyed this read and appreciated Maggie's insights into what would make her happy. Like all Steel novels the main character lives in a privileged environment but hey this is fiction, not reality. If you like Danielle Steel novels you'll enjoy this one.

Growing up, it was engrained in Maggie's head to pick a safe and protective future. Her father died flying planes for the military, her brother died in Iraq and her first love goes off to seek thrills through motorcycle racing. So when Brad comes into the picture a safe and secure CPA in Chicago, she chooses a steady life over the risky one her mother always talked about avoiding. But when her and Brad get into a plane accident which takes his life, Maggie is left devastated. Her safe man died. After months of grief, and her son's departure to college, a friend gets Maggie to take a vacation and live a life she never got to live. With a giant life insurance policy and a settlement from the plane accident, Maggie finds herself in abroad in Europe and loving it! And who does she run into, but her first love Paul, who is now a famous race car driver. The old feelings between them feel comfortable and soon enough they cant get enough of each other. Can Maggie live on the dangerous side with Paul? Or will she be left alone after

This book was such an easy and delightful read. I could not put this down. I read it one sitting! Set between Illinois, London, the Caribbean and Europe it was a perfect scene for an escape! It was so glamorous and in a time when we are limited on our traveling it really felt like I was swept up in these crazy lux vacations. I loved that the two love interest Brad and Paul were totally opposite. and the theme of being a thrill seeker wasn't always the wrong chose like her mother engrained in her all her life. I am definitely risk adverse and take the safe route a lot so it was fun to read about these larger than life careers and made me open my eyes to see that maybe I need to be a little more risky in life.

Oh my this was a good one! I always say that a new Danielle Steel book is like comfort food and this one met up to that description. Coming through major heartbreaks and disasters and still living happily ever after. What a treat it was to read this early copy thanks to the publisher and netgalley.

I was a long time reader of Danielle Steel books and then I took a break from her work for many years. Approximately, 2 years ago, I began reading her novels again. The first book that I read after all those years was The Numbers Game, which I enjoyed. Nine Lives is my favorite of her newer books. I found the story riveting and the characters relatable and believeable. This novel is Danielle Steel at her best. If you love Ms. Steel, I highly recommend reading Nine Lives! Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!
