I like Danielle Steel's stories and characters, I don't like the constant repeating of everything. I am still trying to find a way to read around that to enjoy her story

Thank you NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review. Nine Lives was my first Danielle Steel book. This book was well written and extremely relatable. How much risk is worth it in life? Do you settle for the safe life even if that means you're not fully living? These are the questions that Maggie had to answer as she went through live. This covers: grief, risk, second chances and love. Nice quick read that I enjoyed!

Danielle Steel gave us another book to curl up with. Nine lives can relate to almost everyone especially when we were young. We thought we were invincible and nothing could hurt us.Maggie had a high school boyfriend that had the carefree concept. She went off to college to forget the boyfriend and try to find a life that was a predictable stable partner,. She chose to marry successful accountant. Together they had a son and found happiness in a conventional suburban life. Until tragedy struck..Maggie decides to go on a trip from San Francisco to Rome, Paris, and Monaco. But when her travels reconnect her with the very same irresistible, thrill-seeking high school boyfriend she’s spent thirty years trying to forget, Maggie becomes terrified that rushing into love and sharing his still carefree life. As time goes on and we have loved ones we reconsider the chances we take.

I started and finished this book in one day. I enjoyed this novel. However, it was a bit predictable. The characters were likeable but I did find myself getting a bit annoyed with the main one from time to time. Still it was a quick and fast read. Finished it in a day. Thanks NetGalley for the advance e-copy.

NINE LIVES
BY DANIELLE STEELE

Maggie's father was a fighter pilot and they moved around a lot when she was a child. As in most families being in the military meant moving around a lot. When she was young her father died doing what he loved most. Her mother drilled it into Maggie's head too be careful of dare devil men. Her brother Tommy was five years younger and he followed in his father's footsteps. Her brother also died. This lead Maggie to avoid men who took risks when she grew up.

In high school Maggie met a young boy who she thought took many risks but he was her first love and it was sweet. She had to sneak around in order to see him. They lost touch after graduation. She opted to marry a safe man who gave her a safe, risk free life. Tragedy strikes regardless and she loses her husband. They had one son together. The rest of the story is about how Maggie raises her son and reconnects with her dare devil first love. The romance was the main theme of this and also Maggie's deep seated fear with getting involved with her adult relationship with the man of her first love being a real risk taker.

This was a light, quick read for me. I would prefer more of a show me not tell me approach to the writing. I was entertained and enjoyed it, nevertheless.

Steel’s books are reliably readable, and this novel fills this role. The story of Maggie who has searched for stability after the death of her father, a test pilot. Despite her marriage to a very stable man, fate steps in and creates a whirlpool that leaves Maggie alone to raise her son.

As she recovers, she runs into her first boyfriend, a world famous race car driver. The reader is drawn into their struggle, Maggie searching for tranquility, Paul living for excitement. The reader is carried along as there are life changing events.

Thank you Netgalley for this lovely read.

After Maggie Kelley’s Air Force pilot father dies in a plane crash, her mother warns her to stay away from daredevil men. She breaks up with her boyfriend as he is always taking risks and she has seen what is has done to her mom. So she settles for a predictable husband and a stable life. They had a son and were just a normal stable family. Tragedy strikes and Maggie and her son are alone. Maggie decides that playing it safe didn’t keep her from tragedy. Her son is grown and she decides that she is going on an adventure and enjoy life. While on her trip she encounter her boyfriend from her past. He is still the same daredevil but wants them to get back together. Will Maggie take a change or be afraid to take the risk! Good book! Danielle Steel is so good!

I’m so sorry to say that this book is not enjoyable for me. The story is being told from one point of view and then switches out of no where to someone else’s, then back again. All of this happens in the same paragraph. And I just can’t continue on because I feel I have no idea what I’m reading about. Very disappointing and I feel like Danielle’s books are just not what they once were.

I received an ARC copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. At the beginning of the book, there was so much tragedy for the main character, Maggie. When she was in high school, she dated a guy who took every risk possible and her mom told her that she didn't need to be involved with someone like that and needed to be with someone who was safe and would keep her safe. So that is exactly how Maggie leads her life when she parts ways with Paul to go to college. But 30 years later when she meets him while traveling, the sparks are still there. I so enjoyed the book and all of the characters. Great read!

Being an Avid reader of Danielle Steele, I was so excited to get an advanced copy of one of her future books.

This book was a bit different from what I am used to from this writer, however once I started reading, I couldn’t put this one down.

I loved the beginning of this book and how even if you ran from danger it will still find you.

Then as the son (ADEN) is growing up and very much likes danger I find it incredible ironic for the heroine. I wish that Ms. Steele would have written a bit more about him and how he felt about losing his father and now to have his mom who is with someone who seeks danger for a living.

I think this was a great book that teaches you to Live life to the fullest. However, also in the end love will prevail.

Danielle Steel made me cry with this one. That hasn't happened in years. One of her best in a long time! It reminds me a little of Lone Eagle.

Danielle Steel & Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine allowed me to read an advance copy of Nine Lives. Trying to come up with the perfect word to describe this book was easy "refreshing" nailed it. Life isn't always fair or even turn out like we hope but Maggie had more than her share of tragedy. Her fathers reminders of "be brave" sat at the back of my mind as I read the story play out. Loved all the characters and the ending was near perfect, missed Aden. This will be a book that I will purchase to read again. Thank you

Mary Margaret Kelly, or Maggie, as she likes to be called, has experienced quite a bit of loss during her lifetime. As a young woman, she follows her mother’s advice and chooses safety over the magic and excitement of first love. That is not to say that she was not happy in her marriage. She was…until tragedy reared its ugly head again. Now Maggie has decisions to make—on her own. During her travels, she reconnects with someone very special from her past. Now she is forced into another life-changing decision. What will she choose this time? This is a story of love, of loss, of happiness and pain. It speaks to the ways in which memories can shape our lives and how fate can intervene and change everything. I loved this story and the characters in it. They are well-written and developed, but what else would you expect from Danielle Steel. You will find yourself rooting for Maggie as she finds her way thru the minefields of life. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

Woman is alone
Man has hurt woman in the past
Woman is angry!!

Woman finds man
Woman is happy again
Wait they have a disagreement!
Time apart
Woman and man make up

Typical Steel rhetoric paining women as helpless to a degree without a man in her life. I don’t know why I keep reading this antiquated take on life. Of course they’re all wealthy, thin and beautiful- just like real life. We have to stress thin and tall, that’s all we find acceptable in society.

At least this one has a kid that’s mildly emotional when he’s in a scene.

Esh. I hope for a new formula each time and each time I’m discussing.

Nine Lives by Danielle Steel. Maggie wants to live a easy and safe life but encounters trauma and heartbreak. After the loss of her husband, a friend helps lift her out of her depression and encourages her to start exploring the world. A heartwarming, occasionally heartbreaking, second chance romance with a beautiful ending.

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
