A novel to be savored. Very much in the vein of Alice Hoffman. In some ways authors way with description reminded me of Ray Bradbury.
This is writing at it's finest. Well paced, lyrical, characters that you root for.
And the best part is, the magic is believable.
Kind of like Field Of Dreams. It seemed possible.
Paige Crutcher will be an author to watch for anyone that loves magical realism and/or appreciates writing as an art. Thank you to the Publisher and Net Galley for the opportunity to spend time with The Orphan Witch.

My heart broke for Persephone early on, and then I grew to love her AND this book. Magical and lovely and touching.

Persephone May comes from a long line of magical women, even if she doesn’t know it. Brought up in the foster care system, Persephone has always been different and has never felt love or a sense of belonging. The fact that bizarre incidents tend to occur wherever she is doesn’t help and she copes by keeping herself aloof from everyone. After a particularly public display forces her to retreat again, she gets a lucky invitation to Wile Isle, a place where Persephone will come to realize she is far from unusual and never alone. This is a charming story of magic and longing for home
