Unforgettable Valentine by Stella Williams was a nice read. I included it in the weekly and monthly roundups on my blog and social media platforms.
Sinai is having the worst night of her life, she just caught her boyfriend of three years cheating and now she's stuck inside weathering a storm with a handsome stranger. Things may take a turn for the better though, and definitely for the steamier the next morning.
This book was short and sweet. I really did enjoy it. There were a couple of things I didn't like so much, like referring to non-penetrative sex as not sex but generally it was good. I also feel like it may have attempted a tad bit too much considering how short it was but that may just be me.
This is the perfect book to get you out of a reading slump and a super quick read. This was also definitely a bit steamy while also a semi-closed door romance.
Thank you for the opportunity to review!
Stella Williams is a new author to me and I will most definitely be reading more of her work.
Sinai is at a low point in her life after she then gets the surprise of her life after finding out that her boyfriend is cheating on her with his secretary and it just so happens to be the day for love “Valentine’s Day” oh what a bummer.
Guess what it may not be such a bummer after all. Sinai finds herself running into Dom and they decide to have a one-night affair. Will a night of romance turn out to be many more nights and days of romance or will the two be able to move on?
This was a quick awesome read.
This book was not for me at all. It was irritating as hell. Dominic seemed like too perfect. Way too perfect. 😐 Didn't like Sinai either. The plot seemed forced too.
This was a quick read. Valentine’s tropes are usually fun reads and this was just that. A quick instant hit off for the two characters. The author did well with this book.
Thank you for Stella Williams and NetGalley for offering a copy of the book for an honest review.
"It was silly, really. He didn't even know her. She was a complete stranger, and yet he wanted to avenge her as if it were his own sister who had been hurt."
When a sudden blizzard keeps people locked inside their houses, Sinai and Dom go from strangers to lovers overnight.
Love author created town romances. I found them fascinating, to see what's important. Mulberry seemed to be a midsized city where Dom's family reigned supreme. Sinai bing a new person in town and exploring the different smaller businesses appealed, too.
I had a hard time reading this book. I couldn't connect with the story or the romance. Honestly, it felt more like erotic with romance haphazardly thrown in. And the amount of times that Sinai had an orgasm over the course of a weekend felt like wish fulfillment.
There was no solid romance or connection. More of a friends with benefits, if that. Neither seemed to be on the same page or in the right head space. Instalove can be tricky to write. Unfortunately, this one fell flat because Dom was 'too perfect' for a week long romance plot.
I'm giving the book 1.5 stars based on the writing style and lack of chemistry between the heroine and hero. Sinai and Dom needed a lot more character development before I could buy them as a couple. The scenes without a man around really made her stand out. I would have preferred to see that growth somewhere in the lust-filled haze.
Super swoony, steamy, and just fun Valentine's themed read! I loved seeing these characters let their guard down and find someone new. I love snowed in romances and this one works so well. The heroine deserved a happy ending after seeing her ex cheating on her.
Sinai plans to surprise her boyfriend on Valentine's day, but ends up getting a suprise herself. She runs into Dom, who ends up helping her out of a mess. They have to decide if it's going to be just a one night thing or something that could last longer.
I thought it was a quick and cute story. I'd definitely read another contemporary romance from this author.
I have fun reading this book. I laught so hard! Sinaï is a really unlucky woman and the world seems against her. But from the worse situation, she can see the light.
There's a lot of embarrassing steamy sex that let me say "is that possible?" or "girl, don't do that"?. If you love romance, clichés and little embarrassing moments, got for it.
Two heart-broken people meeting in less than desirable conditions and striking up a relationship of sorts, commiserating about the poor hands they've been dealt. The physicality of their union is erotic and frequent, but the masturbation scene was somewhat disturbing and freaky.Lost my focus and missed parts of the story but didn't get the feeling I missed anything. important.Quick erotic read but dismissable.
So— here’s the thing. To start off, I did not foresee by the cover or the description that this would be more sex than novel really. Don’t get me wrong, I like a good steamy sex scene in a book— but this was too far for my liking. I also did not find all of the sex scenes believable— perhaps I personally just couldn’t foresee them happening in the way they do in my own life? I couldn’t relate, couldn’t connect.
I felt the actual romantic connection was forced because of this. Although Dom, the male protagonist, was swoon worthy I just didn’t feel the connection or chemistry between the two of them.
A few of the language choices bothered me as well— there was a whole paragraph comparing the man’s genitals to a snickers bar which I found rather odd. Some of the grammar errors also got to me. In particular the fact that the author used two different spellings of the female protagonist’s name throughout “Sinai” and “Sanai.” That really bugged me for some reason— it took away from the storyline.
That said, I almost gave this 3 stars just for the overall premise. I found the trapped in a snow storm to fake dating trope fun and wish it was built more upon into a fuller length romcom style novel.
Not my cup of tea— but maybe for those who are just looking for a light steamy read?
Sanai Carlisle sets out on a blustery winter night to surprise her boyfriend. On the way there she collides with Dominic Westmoore and alters the course of both their lives. Unforgettable Valentine is a super sexy romp that uses a clumsy, awkward meet-cute to launch into a mad-cap homage to popular romance tropes. Caught in flagrante delicto, stranded with a stranger, fake relationship, and more combined with surprising moments of profound self-reflection and emotional intimacy make Sanai and Dominic's story a fun, satisfying read. It's a sizzling, sweet bonbon of a tale.
[note: In the NetGalley ARC the spelling of the lead character's name flip flops between Sanai and Sinai.]
Get your steam fans out for this one!! Wow, what a hot novella this was! Novellas can sometimes seem rushed but I really enjoyed the way this short story played out. I loved the connection between main characters, Sinai and Dom, and as I said earlier, be ready for some steam! Unforgettable Valentine is in the fake relationship troupe and also has open door romance scenes. I devoured this book in less than a day and couldn't get enough of Sinai and Dom's interactions. I definitely recommend this one for anyone who wants lots of steam, funny moments, and an unforgettable romance! Thank you NetGalley for this ARC copy.
