"A House Full of Windsor" by Kristin Contino offers a charming exploration of family dynamics and the allure of royal memorabilia. While the story has its heartwarming moments and a touch of humor, the pacing feels uneven at times, and some plot points are predictable. Overall, it’s a pleasant, light read for fans of family drama.

I tried so hard to get into this book. I picked it up 10-15 times before giving up. I could not get past page 50 for the life of me.

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the eARC of A Hpuse Full of Windsor. All opinions in this review are my own.

I had tried to read this book once before but didn't get far because Debbie's hoarding stressed me out. This time I was able to finish it!

I feel like this novel tries to do too much in a short amount of time. I didn't need all three perspectives, it could have either been Debbie past and present, or Sarah present and Debbie past. I also feel like the ending was rushed.

Despite these things, A House Full of Windsor is a heartfelt family novel about healing and finally letting go of the past.

The adorable cover was what caught my eye!
I thought this would be about a woman/family obsessed with the Royal Family. Although that was a small part of the book, it really isn't about that. I thought the story line about hoarding was interesting, but for such a serious problem I thought it was glossed over a bit too much.
All in all, this wasn't a book for me.

This was an interesting look into the world of hoarding. I kind of feel like the difficult side of hoarding was a little glossed over but maybe that's what the author was going for. Ultimately an entertaining read.

This book has nothing to do with the title, or what you think the title is about. It’s based on the states. So no royal family involved lol. You would think by reading the first few sentences of the synopsis that it would be based in London and inside the royal family. The truth is the main characters last name is Windsor and she has an infatuation with the royal family.
But do not fret there are flashbacks that fill the void of royal family talk but it is not what the whole book is about.

When her brother nominates their mother for a TV show about compulsive hoarding, Sarah (of “Sarah Says”) and her mother Debbie reluctulantly agree to participate.

I’m a sucker for all things royal family, so I requested this without reading the synopsis. While it wasn’t what I was expecting based on the title and cover, I really enjoyed this! It’s told in alternating timelines with a focus on Sarah and Debbie (and their family members). I also loved reading the descriptions of Debbie’s collectiables. Highly recommend!

Wanted to like this story, but it read rather flat and was a bit of a slog to get through. Everything just felt drawn out to the point where, 10% into the book, it hadn't yet gone anywhere and was just waffling about. As a result, I didn't connect with the characters, and thus the whole story fell flat. Even the over-pushed royal references felt forced and just not really there as part of the story itself

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. Interesting novel. I loved the cover.

A HOUSE FULL OF WINDSOR
BY
KRISTIN CONTINO

I first heard about this book via royal instagrammers. Crazy, right?
One of the most followed accounts there got either a complimentary copy of bought the book themselves, and I though to myself: I need to check this book out.
Admittedly I first thought the book would be more inspired or based on the royal family in the UK, and alas, the story wasn't really centered around them, their lives were more like a fascinating object to reflect upon, compare one's life and choices to.

Debbie Windsor and Diana, Princess of Wales have one more thing common, than their last names - their love story seems similar. So she does what any unassuming lady would do - starts collecting memorabilia to commemorate the similarities. After a while the stuff piling up in her house becomes less than managable, so does her life.
When her hoarding tendencies put her in possible, unsafe environment, her children must take action.
Sarah and her brother make a decision to help their mother - by casting her in a reality television show called Stuff.
Little did they know, their lifes' trajectory will change after the experience, as well.
The core of the story is all about family and the familiar relations, with a little bit of royal TEA sprinkled into it.
It these things are your cup of tee, I strongly suggest checking out this one!

A House full of Windsor was such a fun book to read. Around the time of Prince Charles and Princess Diana's wedding, Debbie begins to collect memorabilia. Being an American living in England, the Royal wedding held a deep seeded importance for creating a life and meeting her husband. This led to her collection of memorabilia getting out of control to the point of hoarding these items.

Family sagas are some of my favorite stories, and this was no different. The story is told in dual timelines as well as in the perspective of her daughter, Sarah. The story is told through a lens of humor, romance, and the filming crew for a reality tv episode that leads to understanding how the hoarding began. Debbie's hoarding has an emotional impact on her family.

The story was so much more than what I expected and I am so happy to have read it. I hope that more stories come from this story.

First of all, I love the cover! It’s so pretty and I just love all the British details. The book itself was a bit different than I had expected, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. It’s a fun read and I haven’t read anything like it yet.

This book wasn’t what I was expecting. Based on the cover and the title I assumed it would be a story about the Royals but actually this wasn’t the case. (This will teach me to read the synopsis) Thankfully it was still a very enjoyable read and I would read more by this author.

Quirky Tale…
What happens when one woman’s obsession with Royal memorabilia simply gets the better of her, overtaking her life. Perhaps, it shapes her future. Written with an effective dual timeline this is a delightful and quirky read weaving a tale of familial drama, love and the power of forgiveness.

I read this book without knowing anything about it other than the synopsis that I read on GoodReads, but I fell in love with the cover.
I was excited to learn that it was about a woman who hoards royal collectibles to a dangerous level, and the intervention her family goes through (when her son gets a job on a television show and promises his famous sister's participation) to help her through it.
Written with lightheartedness and wit, it offers the reader something different from everything else out there.
I was expecting a little more of a sweet story and rom-com than I got, but it was still a fun weekend read.

Ugh, this DNF is on me - I should have read the *whole* synopsis before requesting. I was hoping to read a book that had something to do with the royal family. Instead, I started reading a book about a hoarder in Philadelphia. No, thanks.

As an Anglophile, A HOUSE FULL OF WINDSOR by Kristin Contino caught my eye. Her novel about Sarah, her siblings, and her mother Debbie kept me reading. I liked the family dynamics and the way that Sarah’s job intersected with her mother’s hoarding habit/condition. Contino created characters that were interesting and situations that weren’t typical. I enjoyed reading it. Thank you to NetGalley for the complimentary copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

This is a fun read. Starting from the 1980s London through the present day - involving “that” royal wedding and hoarding. A family with secrets and romance of course this brought me back to all our expectations of Princess Diana’s charmed life and future
