Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. I always look forward to reading a good book about the Civi War. This was not one of them. A biography usually starts with an ancestral synopsis of the individual and follows with the early life. It seems not much is really known, in detail, about General Porter before the Civil War. His time in the Mexican American War was a history of that conflict with an occasional mention of Porter. Just could not get into it.
