As much as I wanted to like this book, I didn’t manage to finish it. DNF at 15%, just couldn’t get myself to get into it.

While this started out strong, it quickly petered out as it started to turn ludicrous along the way. Kitty has been with her fiancé for 10 years - which means she was with him, a grown man, since the age of 16? The abuse at home felt stretched and like something added on and not at all organically to the plot. Jack felt as TSTL as Kitty, too - they felt like two people completely not in touch with real life, which made it hard to get behind them, much less root for them throughout. Had potential, but turned out problematic

This is a sweet and fun rom com that will have you laughing from the beginning! It definitely gives early 2000s rom com vibes and is filled with British humor!

A decent romance with some deeper topics tacked, which is a nice change. Unfortunately i didn’t seem to connect well with the characters or the story, just felt like something just didn’t work for me.

This is a story that I really enjoyed, and the story was really done well and well paced/ written book.

I enjoyed the story and growth between Kitty and Jack, and how they lean on each other to help each other though the trauma's of their past.

This book features some deep topics, such as emotional abuse and struggles with mental health. I felt each was done well, and respectfully, and I didn't expect it to appear in this book. I enjoy Mary Jayne's writing a lot and this was no exception.

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

What do you do when your dreams become nightmares? Or when you thought everything was lovely and sunshiny only to find out that it was all a lie? Well, for Kitty, that days comes true. It just so happens to be on her wedding day. Hence the title, The Runaway Bride. Now I'm not a huge fan of running away from your problems but she has a ton to deal with. So, Kitty, run far away.

When she runs into a nice stranger, Jack, I don't think she realized what actually happened until she takes a deep breath. Eventually her life story comes out pretty quickly and Jack just sat back and listened. He offered some comforting words here and there, but I don't think he really realized what was going to happen later on.

Long story short, they leaned on one another when the time came. Both have a past that they are still grieving from, but their presence helps dull the pain a bit. I definitely enjoyed their company throughout the book because anyone was better than Ethan or her mom. Seriously... any other person.

In the end, I'm happy with everything that went down. I really enjoyed getting to know Jack and Kitty. Especially when all the secrets finally come out to play. Definitely planning to read another book by Mary in the near future!

Brilliant fun read that gripped me from the beginning. I liked the author's gentle humour and the more serious aspects of the story. Cleverly told with some unexpected twists.

This was a great book! I love the fact that they are both running from something in their lives and they run into each other. This would totally not work in real life, so I think that's what makes it a perfect work of fiction!

what a great read. not your typical romcom, this book touches on any serious things, including mental health, mental and physical abuse, family secrets, and more.
Jack is broken after a tragic accident, AMD meets up with Kitty after she has a horrific event happen on her wedding day. The two of them become bonded over time, and (of course - wouldn't be a romcom otherwise), become intimate.
Their story has many ups and downs, growth and humour. Those puppies!!
loved it, would definitely recommend to friends
Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC copy.

This was an interesting read with a few more twists than your usual romance. It was tragic, yet a bit light hearted. I look forward to reading more by this author.

I really enjoyed this book.
Within hours of marrying her childhood sweetheart, Kitty runs away. With no money, phone and only the clothes she is wearing, she doesn’t know how but she needs to disappear and fast.
Jack driving along sees a beautiful lady, crying at the roadside. He seems to always help lost souls and she is definitely one.
Fate seems to be keeping them together and they help each other on a journey of love, trust, hurt, death, birth and relationships

I really enjoyed this book it dealt with a few issues in this book.

Kitty is a runaway bride who ends up hitchhiking and Jack picks her up. What is she running away from will Jack find out. Jack lives in a campervan and has had a hardship happen in his life will he ever recover from it.

I found it a very enjoyable and funny book but was good what happened all the way through the book.

I would recommend it.

The Runaway Bride follows Kitty after the events that occurred during her wedding’s reception that caused her to be a runaway bride. She’s out of the long-term relationship she’s been in and now she’s lost and running away.

One factor I liked about this book is the way it presents the personal issues of the characters and how those could affect whatever relationship they have. It doesn’t only happen with those in a romantic relationship but within families as well. It got a little bit hard to read The Runaway Bride because of those issues and it was able to trick even me! I was starting to question what was real and what was only the trick of the mind.

The book also deals with grief. A lot of the book and what happened were greatly influenced by losing a loved one and dealing with the grief that comes after. I usually get super attached with characters who deal with grief and being lost but I didn’t really feel like that this time. I really found it hard to connect with them which is probably why I didn’t enjoy the book that much.

The runaway bride, who experiences an incredible shock, still mournful writer, future dog mother, and the story is made.
This is my first book of this author and I admit I am very pleasantly surprised. The story is fluid, beautifully written with great humor (although with English humor, which is a little incomprehensible at the moment), which puts you in front of the fact that you have to face your own fears, otherwise you can not live normally.
