3.5 rounded up.
This is the story of two women, both struggling for different reasons. Liv Granger has never recovered from her brothers death years ago and is seeking revenge. Sophy Pemberton is struggling to cope with new motherhood. Liv offers to nanny to help Sophy with baby’s Finn. The story is told in alternating points of view.
This is an entertaining easy read. I like the alternating perspectives which works well and they interconnect smoothly. The characterisation is a strong element. You feel sorry for Sophy who is exhausted, bone tired and is clearly not coping though you appreciate there’s more going on as someone is playing mind games and there are several possible candidates which makes it intriguing. Liv is harder to work out, she’s so driven by her feelings surrounding brother Ben and this leads to some very questionable actions. However, she does redeem herself before it’s too late. The entitled wealthy women of the St Albans area are well depicted with all their condescension and Sophy’s mother in law Elizabeth would almost certainly win the mother in law from hell award. The premise is good and the plot unfolds at a good pace. There are moments of suspense and tension especially towards the conclusion. Some of the outcomes are easy to predict others less so.
Overall, an entertaining and well written psychological thriller that is easy to read.
With thanks to NetGalley and HQ, HQ Digital for the arc in return for an honest review.
What a ride! I couldn't get away from this one even when I put it down for a quick break I was thinking about it.
Fearing what Liv's intentions were towards Sophy after securing a Nanny position for her and thinking that Sophy was the reason for Livs Brother's death, kept me intrigued.
At the same time wondering what had caused the concern, Sophy didn't seem to be well and was suffering from something or someone worse than Liv.
Complete with mystery and deceiving characters (yes, more than one) and totally not who you think would cause issues for the new mother.
Ekkkk another creepy book for the win! I always know that books that have nanny's as their main characters are usually going to be a thrill! This one was no exception. An absolute suspenseful and crazy read! Definitely going in my top reads category for this year.
Oh, this book was brilliant. I literally was blaming everyone in the book. The authors have a great talent of sending you in one way and then the other. Fab. highly recommended.
Sophy is really on the struggle bus of new motherhood when Liv swoops in and offers to become a nanny for little Finn. Sophy thinks that now that she has help, she'll actually feel more energetic, get rid of her mushy mom brain, and her mother-in-law Elizabeth can back off a tad. Little does Sophy know, Liv has weaseled her way into the lives of Sophy and her family because she blames Sophy for her brother's death years ago.
This book was a quick read, had me engaged the entire time, and had me blaming different characters at various parts of the story. The ending did NOT let me down!
Side note: I read another book titled The Perfect Nanny by Leila Slimani years ago and hated it. This one by Karen Clarke and Amanda Brittany was great!
Thank you to NetGalley, Karen Clarke, and Amanda Brittany for my ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Great book, I enjoyed the plot and the characters. I found the spelling of "Sophy" mildly irritating though. That's was my only criticism mind.
This was a fast and engaging read, though somewhat predictable. It centers on Liv, a nanny, and Sophy, a new mom struggling with motherhood, and is told in alternating POVs between the 2. Liv is convinced that Sophy had something to do with her brother's death 16 years ago and has spent years tracking her down with her sights set on revenge. Sophy had it all, but can't seem to pull it all together since having her son 9 months ago and is struggling with exhaustion and emotions, as well as an ongoing battle with her over-invested mother-in-law.
The characters were pretty well developed, though I was frustrated with Liv's vendetta that everyone else told her to let go, and Sophy's inability to realize that things around her weren't adding up. Even so, there were enough twists in the book (some more predicable than others) that it kept me engaged even in the cases where I rolled my eyes at one of the characters.
I liked the ending of the book and thought it all came together well- the author throws out a number of red herrings related to the climactic event towards the end of the book and it was fun to try to figure it out, as any of these options could have made sense.
All in all, I thought this was a fun read. I read it in less than a day and enjoyed the pacing and the dynamic between the various characters. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I was disappointed with this book, I was expecting a really good read but I found it hard to get into the storyline or engage with the characters.
Sorry but this wasn't for me but thank you to Netgalley and HQ Digital Publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

I wanted to love this book - who doesn’t love a domestic psychological thriller? The Perfect Nanny starts with Olivia who is looking to get revenge on the woman she believes is the reason behind her brothers suicide (which happened 16 years prior). The woman she is after is name Sophie. Sophie is a new mom who is struggling with postpartum depression & could use some help. Olivia makes her way into Sophie’s life with every intention of sabotaging it, but as she finds out more about Sophie and some of the other people in her life - she realizes there is more than meets the eye.
I give this book 3 stars because the storyline ends up taking a bunch of twists (which I usually love) but a few seemed to come out of nowhere and seemed unnecessary to the story.
The Perfect Nanny follows Liv, a nanny, on her path of revenge on the person responsible for her brothers death. Sophy has a nine month old kid, Finn, and she's been struggling to take care of him. At first, it was thought to be postpartum depression. Now, they are unsure. Sophy's mother-in-law is an overwhelming presence in her life and takes Finn off her hands more than Sophy wants. This story is told from Liv's perspective and Sophys perspective, depending on the chapter. There were a couple items that I predicted quite quickly, but there were others that I did not. I found this book to be intriguing, captivating and a nice quick read.

Liv is hunting for the person responsible for her brother's death. She offers her services as a nanny when she finds her. Now she is hell bent on making her pay by wrecking her perfect life. They trusted her but she is coming for them. A nail biting story of revenge created from grief. Gripping right till the end.
This is the first book I have read by these two authors and what an exciting journey it takes you on. It's a gripping read which grabs you and doesn't let go until the shocking conclusion, which took my breath away. Mother in laws always get bad press but holy shit this mother in law is literally bat shit crazy, she's an awesome character and when you get to the end and you think you have worked everything out, you get turned upside down and crash land with a shocking bump on your head because you find out you were wrong the whole way through. All the characters were great and the plot was consistent. A psychological, twisty, gripping and enthralling read which will definitely keep you turning the pages long into the night. I highly recommend this book, you will not be disappointed.
This is a really great read. Not an original storyline as such but the authors definitely made it their own. I really enjoyed it.
What a great book thoroughly enjoyed throughout read it super quick didnt want to put it down....would definitely recommend this book to others
I loved this book from start to finish. I felt really sorry for Sophy and her husband. Sophy was a stay at home mum. After difficult birth of her son Finn, she developed depression and that's when her mother in law decided to help her out with childcare. Elizabeth never really liked Sophy. Sophy was always tired and falling asleep, she thought there was seriously something wrong with her. Little did she know, that the woman who should be helping her, was making her ill. She hired a nanny called Olivia, in a hope that Elizabeth won't come to her house so often. Olivia wasn't the nanny she portrait herself to be.
This book is full of twists and I guarantee once you start reading it, you won't be able to put it down.
I devoured this book in one day!! I loved the premise, complex characters, & the surprise ending. I can’t wait to read more books by this fantastic pair of authors!!
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion! WOW! I absolutely loved this book and stayed up way too late to finish it! SO GOOD! This is my first read by these authors and they are amazing! SO many twists and turns all though the book and it holds your attention from the first page to the last. I can't recommend this enough! GO READ IT NOW!
I find this quite hard to review. I do like a good domestic thriller but I am getting tired of women who seem to be unable to see what is going on around them and the people in their lives ignoring the relevant issues. I have never had a baby but I'm sure that Sophy would have gone to see her doctor somewhat earlier than she did; but I suppose that had she done that there might not have been a story to tell.
In spite of my reservations I did quite enjoy this easy read although I felt sure who the "villain" was quite early on in the story even though one other character was heavily signposted towards the end, so that misdirection didn't work for me.
One final thing, at one stage Liv is seated on a sofa at her mother's home - she decided she needs to be somewhere else and " ...dived to her feet ..." . That strange expression made me stop and re-read in case I had missed something and I hadn't - it seems to be a curious expression which would have better served by "jump"! Not an important criticism to be honest, more of an observation.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
Despite its predictability, this was a fast and enjoyable read. I liked the characters and the story. Read in one sitting.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book.
Really enjoyed this book. Different than your average run of the mill mystery about a kidnapping. This ne had me guessing until the end, highly recommend
