Really enjoyed this book , fast paced , interesting characters and plenty of twists and turns . If psychological storylines are for you this is a must read .
Far fetched unrealistic story of struggling mum Sophy who hires a nanny to help her but has an ulterior motive......very readable and I wanted to find out what happened so I couldn’t put it down! An easy read
Wow a really exciting psychological thriller with so many twists and turns. I couldn’t put it down, and stayed up late to finish in one.
I read this book mostly because I was fascinated by the mish mash of tropes and unusual twists. I felt there was too much in the story which meant I didn't really root or engage with anyone - and I felt some elements, despite sad, were unbelievable eg the MIL drugging the daughter.
3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sophy is a new mom who needs help. She’s struggling. So her MIL steps in. She also meets Liv and they strike up a friendship… but Liv has a secret. She blames Sophy for her brother, Ben’s, suicide. Live squirrels her way into Sophy’s life and becomes her nanny… what could go wrong?
All is not quite what it seems in Sophy’s life… who can she trust?
It was a good suspense novel. I’d say 3.5 stars. I did have a tough time at first because it didn’t seem to quite make sense or flow very well, but it got into a good groove. I did become invested in Sophy and Lib’s lives. I had a few suspicions that were right, but there were also a couple of twists…
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy to read and review.
Sophy is a brand new mom having a rough time dealing with motherhood. Liv is a nanny who is struggling to come to terms with the death of her brother years ago and blames Sophy for his suicide. Sophy doesn't remember Liv from her past and is talked into letting Liv in as nanny to her son. Liv is plotting revenge meanwhile Sophy just needs help to survive as a mother. She is always tired and falling asleep and is feeling controlled by her mother in law. Unexpected things start happening to Sophy in which Liv is trying to make a pay back. A twisty, suspense filled page turner!
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy.
Brilliant. This was a well written book that I greatly enjoyed and already plan to recommend. Believable characters and an inticing setting. Some parts were perhaps a little lengthy, but maybe because I was impatient to reach the novels conclusion! Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a page turner for sure. I really enjoyed this one. It was captivating and kept me invested all the way through. It was a very thrilling story that I enjoyed.
This was a quick, easy read.
Liv is out to avenge the death of her brother Ben. Her sights are set on Sophy, whom she believes to be responsible for Ben’s death.
The story is told from two narratives, neither person being particularly likeable, but then most of the characters were unpleasant.
There are lots of twists and turns, most of them highly predictable, but still worth a read.
Thank you NetGalley.
This was such a great read, there is so much anticipation about how the story will play out. The characters were written brilliantly and the whole idea of the story was great.
Great read although I found some points of it predictable. Will recommend to others though as it was enjoyable
Captivating read. Lots of twists and turns.
Told from two viewpoints. Sophy-struggling to adjust to motherhood, and Liv-a sister wishing to get revenge for her brother’s death years earlier. Many side characters as well who add to the mystery and suspense.
Well-written and tied up nicely at the end. The Perfect Nanny is a perfect pool-side read!
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The writing style was so fluid and easy to read. It was a struggle to put it down and hard not to rush through it in one straight sitting! If you enjoy psychological thrillers, this will probably be right up your street.
I love a good suspenseful thriller and The Perfect Nanny certainly is that kind of book! It was an absolute page turner and I found myself reading it rather quickly because I couldn't wait to find out what happens!
Lots of suspects, lots of twists and plenty of surprises. Took a while to get going but finished with a bang.
This is an entertaining easy read. I like the alternating perspectives which work well and they interconnect smoothly. The characterization is a strong element. You feel sorry for Sophy who is exhausted, bone-tired, and is clearly not coping though you appreciate there’s more going on as someone is playing mind games and there are several possible candidates which makes it intriguing. Liv is harder to work out, she’s so driven by her feelings surrounding brother Ben and this leads to some very questionable actions. However, she does redeem herself before it’s too late. The entitled wealthy women of the St Albans area are well depicted with all their condescension and Sophy’s mother-in-law Elizabeth would almost certainly win the mother-in-law from hell award. The premise is good and the plot unfolds at a good pace. There are moments of suspense and tension, especially towards the conclusion. Some of the outcomes are easy to predict others less so.
Overall, an entertaining and well-written psychological thriller that is easy to read.
I did not read The Perfect Nanny by Karen Clarke and Amanda Brittany as an educator.
The Perfect Nanny was interesting, but not one of my favorite mysteries to come out recently. The authors twisted a narrative that's been done a lot and added in new twists: the stalking of Sophy by Liv, the neighbor stealing Finn, and the grandmother drugging Sophy. I did not see any real character growth or development beyond people just whining throughout the book. There were some missed opportunities throughout with development and descriptive language that would have made this one better. I would still recommend it to others.
This was enjoyable, clever even. It wasn’t entirely unpredictable but it had some twists I didn’t see coming. The dual point of views was done well. I didn’t care much for either narrator but they grew on me as the story wore on.
I feel like this genre has been done quite a bit so I saw the villain coming from a mile away. Take heart though, there was more to the “crazy” than what I thought though so I was pleased. The conclusion was decent and fitting but the epilogue was fire. I love a fun ending!
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and HQ for a copy in exchange for a review.
A great psychological thriller! The story is told from two perspectives throughout, by Liv and Sophy. I got through this pretty quickly, it’s super engaging and one that leaves you guessing until the very end. I warmed to both protagonists from the off-set and was almost rooting for both of them, even though Liv only become Sophy’s nanny to get revenge! It’s a very easy read, one which doesn’t require a lot of brain cells but it also has lots of twists and turns to keep you hooked. I did kinda predict the twist at the end but that’s ok, it didn’t make the book any less enjoyable for me!
The Perfect Nanny is fantastic!
Full of conflict, twists and plenty of suspense! The first chapter didn’t really pull me into the story but once you’re on the third you’ll be enchanted! I read late into the night desperately trying to figure this one out.
Definitely going to be a hit!
