Carlyle Terrace is a cul-de-sac in a quiet neighborhood in Florida. There are only 5 houses on this tiny little property but MANY SECRETS!

There are the newlyweds still grappling with an over involved mother, the family that moved in the middle of the night to escape violence, the family hiding an abusive relationship, and much more. Each family issue was engaging and interesting. The families truly did not know each other well and observing their interactions with each other added tension and interest.

Cul-de-sac is more along the lines of a domestic thriller. I was sucked in to many of the story lines and rooted for the "good ones" to overcome their obstacles. I have never read Joy Fieldings' work before but I will definitely follow her now!

Thank you so much NetGalley, Ballantine Books and author for this amazing advance ebook copy!
It was such a joy and honor to be able to read this book in advance.

Cul-de-sac by Joy Fielding is my first book by this author. And I'm already on the hunt in the Kindle store for more.

I absolutely loved this book! Its about five different households living on the same cul-de-sac in Florida.
This neighborhood is very quiet and calm.... That is until a shooting happens.
And these neighbors aren't who them seem or appear to be!

This captivating thriller starts off with a bang. And it was extremely hard to tear my eyes from my Kindle.
With an amazing, brilliant plot, that will have you wanting more. This book was explosive.
I enjoyed how fast paced it was. The characters.... WoW! The characters here are very well played out.
Also the narrative was so engaging I was honestly amazed.

Thanks again for this great read. I tried to wait as long as I could till pub date but I couldn't
Ill post to my Goodreads and bookstagram account closer to pub date!

Joy Fielding is a pioneer in the field of suspense. She created the suburban thriller with her 1982 bestseller “Kiss Daddy Goodbye.” Fielding’s latest, “Cul-de-sac”. Is a suburban thriller that revolves around the homes of the people that live in the cul-da-sac area in Palm Beach, Fl. The neighborhood includes a recently separated woman, a grandmother who takes her troubled grandson, a golden couple with a dark secret, and a veteran torn between his wife and his dominating mother. Fielding expertly handles each story with her trademark true to life prose. She also captured my attention with a prologue about a shooting in the area by one of the residents. Cul-da-sac is a good introduction to any one who hasn’t read any of Joy Fielding’s previous novels. It’s also a reminder before there was
“Big Little Lies” or “Gone Girl” that Fielding already had her pulse on emotionally complex heroines and domestic drama,.

Another page turner from this suspense author that features a small neighborhood filled with innuendoes, secrets, and facades. The reader will want to root for the underdog and not the privileged.

Thank you Netgalley, Ballantine Books, and Joy Fielding for this ARC.

This is a great domestic drama--so many homes holding secrets inside among their occupants. And on a quiet night in mid-summer, one of those occupants ends up dead!

There were a lot of people to keep track of, but the author did a good job of keeping them organized and not confusing. If you love scandal, deceit, and the ups and downs, twists and turns of human lives and behavior then this is right up your alley.

This book was well written, for which I give it 5 stars. I guess I was expecting more from it, I kept waiting for the thriller part to start. It is definitely a good look inside a bunch of different kinds of relationships.

I was so excited to read Joy Fielding’s newest book! She does not disappoint! The setting, an idyllic neighborhood. The cast of characters, your typical neighbors…..or are they? Everyone has secrets and what will they do to keep those secrets? Rich, believable characters drive a well developed plot. A great beach read!

Taking place in a Florida suburban cul-de-sac, we get to know five families, each with their own issues.... and each of them gun owners.

I loved this book but I guess it needs to be said that if you have many triggers, you may want to skip this one. I couldn’t put it down, but it was pretty anxiety provoking. I was very angry and felt for the characters deeply. Even though there are many neighbors the reader is following, you dive deep into their lives and get seriously attached. Some of them are treated so poorly and it gets to you! There’s some abuse, gaslighting, rape, PTSD. That said, it was a really good book that obviously tackled some deep issues. I loved how the ending tied up and the epilogue allowed the reader to know how each neighbor fared. This kind of reminded me of Good Neighbors, but it focused more on the suburban parents than the kids.

“Neighbors talk, after all. Especially when you give them something to talk about.”

Cul-de-sac comes out 8/10.

This story starts off with a gunshot in the cul-de-sac where five families live and goes on to tell each of their stories leading up to it. There's Molly, a newly separated, very paranoid mom of two; Dani, her abusive husband, and their two sons; unemployed Craig (who is lying to his wife about job prospects and a lot of other things), his wife and kids; Julia, an elderly widow whose grandson moves in; and Aiden, who has PTSD and an overbearing mother, and his wife, Heidi, who can't seem to do anything right in her mother-in-law's eyes. All of the families have their problems, and it all builds up to someone being shot. I really enjoyed this. 4 stars.

In this story, Fielding details the lives of five families living in a cul-de-sac in Florida. Beginning with a shooting, the identities of the shooter and victim are only revealed after one gets to know the back stories of each family.

There is a perfectionist doctor with his dentist wife and their children, an unemployed husband who is not being honest with is wife, a family fleeing from violence in California, newlyweds with an interfering mother, and an older woman trying to help her not-so-upstanding grandson. Each family has secrets they don't want aired.

When they all get to know one another and their lives become tangled, the 4th of July explodes in unforeseen ways. Recommended for fans of psychological thrillers.

Not a thriller or even a domestic suspense...the reader already knows that the story centers around neighbors who share the cul-de-sac and that one will be shot dead.

However, the story was redeeming because of the characters. While several to keep up with, it was fun to see the curtain pulled back for each one, scrutinizing the minutiae that makes up a life.

This book will appeal to people watchers and those who enjoy in-depth character studies.

Cul-de-sac by Joy Fielding is a book about a small street where everyone is watching. Each house is pretty much the same but what goes on inside is definitely different in each home. There are the homes with the kids and their stories and friendships, sibling rivalries, and squabbles with the grownups. There is a home where the Dad lost his job and is struggling with his next life steps and is not being honest with his wife. There is the home of the wealthy oncologist, his wife the dentist, and their two sons. It should be ideal but a dark and evil underbelly exists in this home. Then there is the home of the elderly lady with a grandson that is rebelling against his father. He finds solace with the elderly lady but also brings some romance and drug issues to the quiet street. This book is a well-written story of Americana, the struggles of families, and the triumph of spirit. It flows well and the characters are some you might find in any neighborhood until something happens that makes this street one you won't forget. TI thoroughly enjoyed this book. Thanks to #NetGalley#Cul-de-sac for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I enjoyed getting to know all the characters in the cul-de-sac on Carlyle Terrace. I’m not sure I would call this book a thriller or psychological thriller...there weren’t any twists or turns during the entire book. There was a major twist at the very end (last chapter of the book) that was unexpected. I basically read as fast as I could to get to that part because I was so invested in all the life events happening on Carlyle Terrace! I thought it was intriguing how all five families in the cul-de-sac had their own secrets behind closed doors that they were desperately trying to grapple with. I thought by the description of this book that there was going to be more action instead it was mainly the daily drama of the characters lives.

All in all it was an interesting and fast read!

Thank you to Ballantine and NetGalley for this ARC!

Cul-de-sac by Joy Fielding Domestic drama with five different family dynamics in each of the houses in the Cul de Sac. The characters were all realistic portrayed and reliable. Even the personality of Neptune, Tyler's pet was was spot on and reminded me of Ben, our red Betta, who occupied our hearts for a short time. Liked that the author gave the origin of the word cul de sac which was very informative. Even though some of the passages of physical and psychological abuse are difficult to read, the story was fast paced leading to a satisfying conclusion.

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

Thoroughly enjoyable read about a handful of couples living on a suburban cul-de-sac (which as an aside, I lived on in TX and we called it a cul-de-sac but here in Maryland we call it a "court." ) and the ins and outs of their lives. This book delivers on the "you never know what happens behind closed doors" concept. I found myself picking it up and reading it during the day and through the night to see what happens.

Tied up in perhaps too neat of a bow but still a very enjoyable read. I've been reading books by Joy Fielding for quite a long time and she usually delivers!
