I'm going to go ahead and say it- this book had definite "Big Little Lies" vibes, so I expect to see comparisons. I don't want to give anything away, but I will say that this book, like the aforementioned one, had the opening where you know someone is dead, but not WHO.... and you hope it's the abusive husband. I'll stop with that, and say I found myself highly invested in these characters. I loved the tone and writing of this book, and how well the author was able to intermingle the lives of the people living on this quiet Florida cul-de-sac. I couldn't put this book down. It's one that I will absolutely recommend, even if it does remind me of something else, because it was so interesting and well done. Easily 4 and a half stars, rounded to 5 for the purpose of this review
I would recommend this book. It's an easy read and keeps you guessing as to what the ending will be. The writing made me feel as if I were a part of the neighborhood. The characters were strong and I imagined that a few reminder me of friends. Give it a try.
This book starts out with someone getting shot but you do not know who. Then goes back and tells about the dysfunctional families who are neighbors. Then ends with the reader finding out who got shot and why. Some of the characters are easy to like but others not very much.
Fielding presents a who dunnit in reverse. Someone living in this quiet little suburb has been shot, but who is it? The story then travels back in time, examining the lives of the seemingly ordinary people who live in the cul-de-sac, who on closer inspection, reveal themselves to be anything but ordinary. An enjoyable mystery that will keep readers guessing
