I give this story a middle of the line review. Overall, it was underwhelming. Mrs. Adlers secret was lame. Some of the pranks were mild and didn’t escalate much. The ending was anti-climactic.
Just finished reading THE PERFECT FAMILY by Robyn Harding. Thank you to @simonschusterca for my eARC copy via @Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Official publication date was August 10th, 2021.
I struggle to write a review for this one as I wanted to like it soo bad, and I kept reading hoping the ending would blow my mind...But sadly it didn't.
This was a fast paced non-thriller that I guessed the ending of too early on. All the characters are annoying with no redeeming qualities 😬. I made it all the way to the end for that.
I received The Perfect Family by @rhardingwriter from @netgalley and @simonschusterca in exchange for an honest review. I had hoped to read it during the pre-baby part of mat leave but baby has been distracting me since way before we evicted him.
I finally seem to be able to focus again and picked up The Perfect Family yesterday. It will tell you how captivating it was that I finished already! I was reading while rocking baby back to sleep at 130am, suddenly it was 3am and I'd finished the book. If a book can not only grab the attention of a sleep deprived new mama, but also keep her awake when she could be sleeping....then you know its one you should pick up.
My first Robyn Harding read, and my first domestic mystery/thriller, I was addicted to The Perfect Family.
Narrated in four voices - father, mother, son, and daughter - all with secrets to tell, I was never bored with any of their lead-ups. I absolutely needed to know EVERYTHING at all times. And the ending did not disappoint.
What a ride!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the digital ARC.
Robyn Harding is one of my favourite authors, everything she writes sucks me in. This story starts quick the drama begins in the first chapter and it just increases all the way through. Every single character in this book has drama. And all the stories are great on their own. Just a little unbelievable all together at the same time.
All of the characters are unlikeable and I realized I don’t feel bad for any of them. But I still wanted to know the whole story. I needed to know how it ended. It was great until the last 2-3 chapter. And that epilogue arghhhh!!
As soon as I see a Robyn Harding book come out I get excited. I devour her books within a couple of days.
The Perfect Family didn’t disappoint- I couldn’t put it down. The book was very entertaining and loved all the family secrets, lies and deceit. On the outside, the Adlers seem like a normal family but once inside there is a lot secrets hidden from each other and will have you guessing throughout the book.
As usual, Robyn delivers the hook, line and sinker. Her writing is great.
3.5 rounded up because I really had no idea who was tormenting this family and in all honesty I’m still not sure I fully know! This book is the definition of family drama, everyone has secrets and everyone is a bit dysfunctional And it made for a wild ride. I honestly felt bad for everyone in this family they were good people who found themselves in some pretty messed up situations that maybe weren’t handled the best but they are trying. My biggest complaint is I would’ve loved an epilogue or a bit more closure but I guess the open ending leaves it up to you to decide the conclusion.
This was a great thriller, The Adler family had so many issues it gave me anxiety. Great concept and very intriguing. Couldn’t stop to put the book down and devoured in one sitting

This book was such a page-turner! After I hit the 50% mark, I. Could. Not. Put. It. Down. I needed to know what was going to happen, and I was so impatient to get there. I loved the alternating POV and the short chapters. It was the perfect combination to keep me fully invested in the story and wanting to do nothing else but read all night!

I have to say that compared to the anticipation the entire book created for an epic ending, it felt a little anti-climatic for me. I had guessed some aspects of the ending, but thankfully, not all of it. Honestly, this book was a 5-star right up until the end.
As always, another amazing thriller by Robyn Harding. The Perfect Family is a great binge read because of the short chapters and the changing viewpoints between all of the family members, each with their own secret and reason for being at the heart of the attacks. Lots of twists and turns.
Loved this one...just as I've loved all of Robyn Harding's thrillers. Definitely an auto-buy author for me!
I loved the short chapters, the interesting premise, and the fact that I did not guess the ending of The Perfect Family. I wouldn't necessarily classify it as a true thriller-maybe a domestic suspense? Nonetheless I thoroughly enjoyed the writing, the flawed characters and the storyline.
Essentially what readers are in for is a family that appears perfect but are actually hiding some interesting secrets. Things unravel, as they do in these types of books, and we're left to try and figure out who is behind the unsavory and downright scary attacks against the family. It was a quick read for me, and I really liked it.
As a huge fan of Harding’s other books, I’ve been dying to read this one since I got it.
I listened to the audio of this one and I think it definitely made me enjoy it more than if I would have read it. The multiple narrators made the characters all come to life (even though they were all quite unlikeable).
A quick read with complex family drama, but not overly thrilling. Happy I read it but not one that will stick with me.
I didn't love it, unfortunately.
I found the pranks to be underwhelming and the whole family dynamic was not working for me.
I enjoyed the multiple POV. It is my favourite to read by far. Keeps me engaged and guessing longer I find.
Really enjoyed this domestic suspense thriller. The prologue hooked me right in. Made me question what on earth was happening and I need to know more about this Adler family.
I just love the multiple POVs : Mom (Viv Adler), Dad (Thomas Adler), Son (Eli Adler) & Daughter (Tarryn Adler).
At first glance, they seem like a perfect family, to perfect that you have to know they are definitely hiding some secrets in their closet: As time goes on, and learn about each of their stories, we get to see their own individual issues.
The whole suspense of who was doing what and for what reason was the great. This has to be my favourite of hers to date!
This was a fast-paced-what-the-heck-is-going-on type of book with tons of family drama and a LOT of family secrets. This was the first book I've read by this author and I'll be sure to check out some others!!
Thomas & Viv Adler are a somewhat typical suburban couple with a son in 2nd year of college and a daughter in her junior year of high school. They like to portray themselves as financially successful and they put a lot of pressure on their children to be even further educated than they were & successful in their future lives. Thus, the two children have their own mental health issues. When their home becomes vandalized over and over again and there is no obvious sign of the culprit, it is difficult to discern who in the family is really being targeted - all of them have "enemies" and secrets that could cause revenge tactics.
Told in the multiple family perspectives, I'll definitely say that I was intrigued enough to fly through this book and find out how it all wrapped up, though the end let me down just a little bit.
The Perfect Family by Robyn Harding is a fast paced, full of twists and turns, with secrets and family secrets. It was so good, and I had a hard time putting this book down.
What is everyone in your family was keeping something? Not really knowing if you could trust them. The Adler family, seem to have everything. Perfect mom, dad, and children. The perfect life, one that everyone would be envious of. Until their house starts getting vandalized and each one of them doesn't feel safe anymore and wondering if its because of them that its happening.
I loved the story, the family and wanted to know what was going to happen. It kept me wanting more. If you love thrillers and family drama this is one for you.

Thank you to @netgalley for my copy of the ebook in exchange for an honest review. Available now.
Engaging, entertaining, and twisted!
This started out a little slow for me but once things started picking up a little bit as the secrets and lies started to unfold I found it quite the page-turner.
Thank you so much to Simon & Schuster Canada, NetGalley and Robyn Harding for the opportunity to read an eArc. I also kindly received a physical ARC from the author.
The Perfect Family by Robyn Harding is one book I didn't want to put down!
Thomas, Viv, Eli and Tarryn make up the seemingly perfect Adler family. That is until one night when their house is pelted with eggs and their seemingly perfect life begins to go on a downward spiral with increasingly dangerous things happening to them.
The author throws in many twists and turns while the family's frustration, fear and anger escalates.
Each of the four characters tell their own story and reveal secrets only they know until the jaw dropping conclusion.
I highly recommend this thrilling read!
Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for an arc of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
To the outside world the Adlers really are the perfect family, but in reality they’re each harbouring a secret. So when the family begin to be targeted it could be any of them who are under threat.
I really wanted to love this book, but unfortunately I didn’t overly enjoy it. I didn’t think it read like a thriller which is what I was expecting. Instead it felt more like a family drama with a touch of suspense and for me that’s a very hard sell.
I didn’t particularly like any of the characters but similarly none of them were fun to dislike either. I wanted to skip ahead to the end to see how it ended rather than keep reading because I was invested in the story. I have seen so much praise for this book so I’m thinking my opinion on it is in the minority though.
Rounded up to 3 stars.
Thank you for approving me for this e-book.
I wish I enjoyed this book, unfortunately I could not even finish.
Its way too detailed and the pacing is so slow that I lost complete interest in these characters and this story.
