I read this book in one setting, that is how good this book is. What a family this is and the secrets they all carry!!!! Whew!!!! Good read, another winner by the author. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the arc of this book in return for my honest review. Receiving this book in this manner had no bearing on this review.
The Perfect Family is a perfectly messed up family. When things start to happen to them, and then those things get progressively more scary and dangerous, they hide their secrets deeper and deeper from each other instead of doing something to make the assaults stop. The family frustrated me, and the characters were shallow and annoying, but I read nonstop to get to the end. I figured sooner or later they'd get to the bottom of things. Luckily they did and it was a pretty good ending.
OMG!! So many secrets!!! This is a very quick book to read because it's hard to put down! I would finish a chapter and the next one was just a few pages long so I would read that, and on and on...and next thing you know, another hour went by. I also loved that the chapters go back and forth among the family members telling the story. I like that each family member has its own secrets, which would be okay, but the secrets are all so HUGE on their own that creates a dysfunctional dynamic and a mess.
I really enjoyed it! Thanks NetGalley, Robyn Harding, and Gallery Books for this copy!
My hopes were high for this one. I thought it sounded like a fun and quick summer read. You all know I love a good thriller! however, this one took everything in me to finish.
The premise sounded so good! A family being target by small attacks on their house and property. Every family member has a hidden secret and reason to believe the attacks are aimed at them. The perfect family turns out to be not-so-perfect.
We learn very early on what each family member has to hide, so after that, the story is just long and drawn out. Chapter after chapter of child-like assaults and attacks. Chapter after chapter of every single member of the family not having the common sense to deal with the situation in a mature way. Chapter after chapter of pure boredom.
The characters were shallow and there wasn't a single one I connected with. Both parents acted selfish and immature on a regular basis, while the two children (teenagers) had regular teenage issues that they were trying to deal with the best they knew how. It was a weird family dynamic that I couldn't relate to- every single family member seemed to hate and not trust each other at all.
Finally towards the end, the family spills their secrets to one another. They try to figure out why they are being targeted, but instead of going to the police they try to solve the problems themselves. I think what was supposed to be the big finale "twist" was predictable. The single most interesting sentence of this book is the very last one.
I do want to thank Netgalley and Gallery Books for allowing me an advanced e-copy to read and give my honest review. It was a 2 star read for me.

Happy Reading!
A family's home is being vandalized by strangers. Who in the house is responsible for the attacks? What if everyone is guilty? This was a family psychological thriller told from multiple points of view. Each character was equally unlikeable as they are all people with dirty secrets. The plot definately kept you guessing and the ending was great. Recommended.
I was excited to hear that Robyn Harding had a new book coming out, as I usually find her stuff compelling and fun. I found this one to be a bit disappointing, though.
In this story, the Adlers are a perfectly normal, upper middle class family, at least on the surface. So they are dumbfounded when they start experiencing some hazing, which starts out annoying but quickly turns scary as the stunts become more and more dangerous.
Since each family member is harboring a terrible secret that they are unwilling to share, nobody is willing to fess up that they might have some idea as to why they’ve been targeted. Can they figure out who is behind the attacks before their family is irreparably damaged?
In this latest book, I found the author to be too heavy-handed. What are the chances that every family member just happens to be hiding the worst thing they’ve ever done all at the same time? Also, I haaated the way it ended.

Mother Viv, father Thomas, son Eli, daughter Tarryn appear to be the "The Perfect Family" but when their house becomes a target of vandals, and they try to figure out who is targeting them, all of their secrets are uncovered.
This was a quick and enjoyable read! Each character had a questions surrounding them, and the story came to gather to reveal the answers.
There is always "that family." The successful couple, beautiful children, a well-manicured home. From the outside, they're picture perfect and the envy of all of their neighbors. But what lies underneath the surface of the picture perfect façade?
The Perfect Family tells the story of "that family" -- the Adlers -- and what happens when the façade begins to crack. One morning, the Adler family home is egged. At first, the family thinks its a prank. But when the pranks turn into more sinister attacks, Thomas Adler is convinced someone has it out for them. But which member of the Adler family's secret is the root of the attacks?
Robyn Harding does it again! I enjoyed her development of the Adler family through each family member's point of view. A great family thriller for 2021!
The Adlers are living the upper middle-class dream in their Craftsman style home up in Portland, Oregon when one morning they wake up to .their house and car having been egged. Then things start escalating quickly. Okay, maybe that’s a lie. This kind of rolls out like all of the Paranormal Activity movies (which I am ADDICTED to by the way) where stuff and things happen nearly every night. The perps only show up as grainy shadows on the security camera, the cops think it’s a case of kids being kids. But all of the Adlers have secrets and any of them could have someone out to get them. It’s just a question of who.
Okay so this book was 100000000% "Lifetime Television for Women" - and please do not get it twisted that I believe that to be a bad thing. Sometimes all you need is a method of killing time and your brain is not interested in thinking too hard. It would have been great if I had a pool to dip my toes in while reading this, but hey I’m poor so it is what it is. This was a fun way to spend an afternoon. I have read a couple of Harding’s other books and she’s been a solid 3-3.5 Star for me (which is NOT a bad rating so please do not troll me). I will be picking up The Swap and The Party in short order I’m sure.

I really enjoyed having all the family member point of views and each one had some kind of issue. Plenty of secrets to keep you guessing. There is someone "out there" that isn't happy with one of them and that is where the mystery comes in. Although the pace is good, I was frustrated with some of the characters and their implausible actions.
I enjoy Robyn Harding's books. The Arrangement was a really good one and even though I haven't read The Swap it's there on my TBR list.
I had high hopes for The Perfect Family and I'm glad to say that it paid off. The story sucked me in from the word go.
Meet The Adlers. On the face of it Viv and Thomas have it all. They are all about appearances.
But that's just on the surface. Each member of the Adler family has secrets of their own and therein begins the thrills and drama.
The story is told from all 4 POVs. The parents and the 2 children and the author has done a fantastic job in giving each of them a distinctive voice. Each character is very well developed and one feels for all of them.
One night their house gets vandalised and despite their best efforts the vandalism keeps happening and that's where the downhill spiral begins.
I don't want to reveal more but suffice it to say that the story has you hooked and you can't wait to find out how it all pans out.
A superb thriller.

This is the perfect title for this perfect book about this perfect family! Ok the only true part of that statement was the perfect title/perfect book part! Wow…what a crazy thrilling book ride! Readers will love how Robyn Harding managed to create what seems like a “perfect” family but is actually the exact opposite!
For outsiders looking in, the Adler’s have it all…mom, dad, brother and sister all living in a perfect house. Parents are successful, kids are smart (one in HS the other in college). All seems just… perfect.
Ok… record scratch sound indicating the “NOT” part! Rewind…
Let’s start over…
Dad is caught red handed doing something shady. Mom does something shady but hasn’t been caught. Son witnessed something shady but keeps mouth shut. Daughter participates in something shady but stays anonymous. Sounds perfect right? Insert sarcastic eye roll 🙄
The problem is when shady things start happening to them in their own home, they all blame one another for why it’s happening. I mean… someone could be after them for any number of reasons. As they each evaluate their own possible role in all of it, the bigger the mess they all seem to be.
As the Adler’s world slowly implodes, secrets begin surfacing. You will be shocked at how many plot twists will keep you turning pages furiously. The end is fabulous! I loved everything about this chaotic story! 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Told through the four points of view of the Adler family, The Perfect Family reveals the Adlers at their most confused and most desperate. Thomas and Viv Adler seem to have it all - a lovely home, good jobs, an athletic college-aged son, and a high-school-aged daughter who does well in school. Their secrets, as individuals and as a family, run deep. When their home is repeatedly vandalized, they must look internally to determine why such destruction is happening. Their growing fear as the incidents escalate exposes the cracks in this family unit.
Thomas is a real estate agent who is suspected by Viv of having an affair. In reality he is being blackmailed after getting ridiculously drunk at a bachelor party where compromising photos were taken. As a parent he fails to really understand his children, their issues, or their fears. His son's unwillingness to return to college confuses him but he allows Viv to call the shots for how to deal with it.
Viv, a part-time home designer, is a thief. She steals small items from her customers since it gives her a sense of control. The author stresses how her family views her career as part-time and somewhat trivial. The description of her closet (and Thomas' simmering resentment over the cost) is repetitive. Nowhere, however, does it appear that Thomas and Viv ever really talked about the cost. As a mother she is overly solicitous of her son and a little scared of her tempestuous daughter.
Eli has a secret as well. At college he failed to act, failed to tell. The guilt and shame are overwhelming but his actions/reactions are confusing.
Finally Tarryn's secret is the most bizarre. She is an extraordinarily lonely girl but she hides behind her sullenness and ill fitting clothing. Her parents are incapable of seeing her pain and incapable of helping her deal with because they are too self-consumed.

A mother, a father, a daughter plus a son equals the perfect family, right? Not so much for the Adler family.
In fact, each member is far from perfect as readers begin to learn about hidden secrets that are slowly surfacing.
But whose secret is the catalyst for all of the vandalism they have recently been experiencing?
I really enjoyed the unraveling of secret lives of each of the Adler crew, and thought the ending was well done. This is definitely a quick read that keeps you entertained.
This book was just not for me. Each member of the Adler family has a secret and someone is targeting their house with vandalism. I didn't like any of the main characters and I thought their secrets really weren't very scandalous. I did not finish this book.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book for review.

The Perfect Family Is the latest contribution to the ever growing domestic thriller genre. Robyn Harding presents by appearances the perfect domestic family. Each of the four members harbor a secret that can destroy the facade and their lives.
Harding gives each family member their own personalities warts and all.
My tolerance level was tested by some of their drastic actions and self absorbed attitudes, but I also wanted to find out more about them.
The Perfect Family is a can't put down thriller that is sad, shocking and wickedly funny
I received an ARC of this book. All I can say is WOW! What a story! A family that seems to have it all but every member has a secret. Could not stop reading until the last sentence and even that was a surprise. Really enjoyed this story.
This was a good book, Your home is supposed to be your safe haven but what happens when it is that no longer? This book had a lot of thrills and I read it pretty quickly. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
If ever there was a story to tell you that you can never know what's happening behind closed doors, this is it. Harding's newest thriller is breakneck and intense, barely leaving time to breathe as each of the four POVs are haunted by unexpected demons brought to life. I enjoyed each of the four family members and looked forward to each of their chapters. The pacing was very quick. If you think you're going to have to put it down, well, just don't. This is a thriller worth every crazy turn.
My only complaint, and it's a brief one considering how I tore through this novel, is the ending. Just didn't like it and I can't explain why so I hesitate to even mention it other than for the sake of transparency. But I'm not one of those readers who thinks one thing overrides the entire experience so I would absolutely recommend this book to any thriller reader, along with Harding's other novels. Just make sure you buckle in because this crazy train doesn't stop until the final line!
Note: I received a free electronic edition of this book via NetGalley in exchange for the honest review above. I would like to thank them, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to do so.
We all have our idea of "the perfect family" thanks to movies and tv, but then you have Robyn Harding coming in hot with that's how it looks on the outside, but let's see what goes on inside!
Meet the Adlers. A family of 4 who live in a beautifully restored home. Thomas and Viv Adler are an attractive and successful couple with two well-mannered childern. One in high school and one home from college, but this family of 4 jumped off the Hot Mess Express without the train stopping. Each member of this perfect facade household is holding secrets that are dark and just juicy.
I. Couldn't. Put. This. Book. Down!!
It all starts when their house was egged one night. The next night someone threw tomatoes. Just lame pranks by kids-until things start escalating, but who is doing it and why? Every one has a secret. Do they each have an enemy because of their secret? It was just crazy!
I loved the 4 POV's and how the story progressed with each character. The writing was smooth and the chapters flowed effortlessly. It's been a while that I had a book to kick my anxiety into gear and trying to figure out who was doing what.
