Oh my GOSH I could not put this book down! Every single page had me breathless and desperate to know what happened on the next page! And that happened right up to the very last sentence! And then I wanted MORE! I loved how every chapter is told in first person perspective from each of the four family members. It was easy to tell whose chapter I was on. I found myself wondering if Ms. Harding sat down with a 17yo girl to get the verbiage right for Tarryn’s and with a 20yo guy for Eli’s chapters. She nailed it! There are SOOOOOO many twists! I just loved them all!!!
Are you looking for a delicious summer thriller full of lots of family drama and secrets? If so, this is a great choice for you!
The Perfect Family is about a family whose house is the target of increasingly threatening vandalism. It starts out with eggs being thrown, and progresses daily until the family is scared and is being torn apart. The story is told through multiple POVs, one for each family member. We see Viv, the matriarch who thinks her husband is hiding something but who has a secret of her own, Thomas, the patriarch, who did something bad on a trip, and their children, Eli who came home from college only to say that he wont be going back, and their youngest, Tarryn, who has increasingly become mean and surly.
Gradually we learn more about the secrets each family member is hiding, and how they might be tied into the things that have been happening to the house. This worked really well for me, as the chapters were short and engaging, and I could have seen each of the characters having something to do with the vandalism. They each had their moments where they were likable and moments where they weren't - they were all flawed characters, but none of them were SO irredeemable that I hated them. Personally, I enjoyed that none of them were "innocent" and each could have been the reason their house was being targeted.
This was a five star reed for me up until the very end. While most of the questions were addressed and answered, I did feel like there were a few loose ends that didn't get tied up, and left me with lingering questions, which I wasn't a fan of. It does leave room for a (short?) follow up, however I'm not sure that was the author's intention. If that isn't something that will bother you, definitely pick this one up!
First, I want to thank Netgalley, Gallery Books, & Robyn Harding for allowing me to read & review this exciting book before it’s pub date. Holy wild ride on the edge of your seat. Robyn Harding definitely nailed this one & is now on my list of auto buy authors.
Thomas & Viv Adler have the perfect house and seemingly perfect life with their 2 teenage kids, Tarryn and Eli. Until one morning they woke up to eggs being thrown at their house. They chalked it up to just kids being kids, until their tires were being slashed, smoke bombs went off in their yard, and windows being broken. Surveillance camera show nothing; each assault bringing on more fear. Because what the Adler’s don’t know is each of them is hiding a secret, one that may be the reason for the assaults.
I love a good family drama thriller. There’s honestly nothing like it & it’s becoming one of my favorite things to read about. I loved how each of the 4 Adler’s seemed relatable in some way, from the angst teens to the overworked parents. This was also the type of slow burn that I love, one that slowly builds up until one big GASP plot twist moment. I found myself turning pages quickly, needing to find out what happens. I really enjoyed this one a lot!
I enjoyed this book, it drew me in and kept my attention. I thought it was an interesting read with the family dynamics and secrets. I recommend this for a good thriller!
Thomas and Viv Adler seem to have the perfect life. They have the 2.5 kids, the beautiful house, until they didn’t! Someone has it out for them, but they don’t know who. Their house is being vandalized and they can’t figure out who is doing this. They try to set up “traps” yet, they can’t catch who doesn’t like them. Be sure to catch this phenomenal read!
Thomas and Viv Adler appear to have the perfect life. Appearances can be deceiving as we all know. They and their two children, Eli and Tarryn, all have secrets.
When someone throws eggs at their house and an apple at their window, at first they think it's just kids and harmless pranks. But, when the "pranks" continue and escalate, each of the four have to question if what is happening is because of them and their secret.
This is a very easy read. I was hooked from the start. I wanted to know who was doing these things to the family and enjoying their worries along the way. The ending was somewhat of a letdown, though. I felt like there should have been a bigger reveal than what really happened. Plus, we were left with some questions.
Overall, another good read. I enjoy this author's writing and will continue to read more.

Many books recently are told in alternating chapters But what separates The Perfect Family is that the chapters rotate through each of the four members of one family. And each of them has a very deep secret that they are ashamed of. What I loved was that they took ownership, each confessing that their secret might be the impetus for the pranks that were escalating against their house.
The characters are well developed. The dad, Thomas, is a bit arrogant, denying any culpability until a secret comes out that could ruin him. Mom, Viv, is kind of oblivious to what's going on in her own household...and to why she has a habit she can't break. Their son Eli has experienced a trauma at college, which we aren't told about until mid-way through the book, and trust me, it is not for the faint of heart. And daughter, Tarryn is a sulky teen, distancing herself from friends and family. And poor Tarryn gets a lot of the blame from her parents through most of the book.
I read the book in less than two days, and let's just say, not much work got done. That's my guilty secret. What's yours :-)

This is my favorite book of Robyn Harding's so far. I’ve read Her Pretty Face and The Party, but not The Swap or The Arrangement (yet).
It’s evident from the start that every family member has a secret, but whose secrets are bad enough to warrant the attacks on the Adlers’ home? I really enjoyed the multiple POVs, since the reader gets to discover each person’s secret before the other characters. Everyone was convinced the pranks were their fault, and it was a lot of fun to untangle the lies and figure out who was really at fault. I was definitely committed, and the book flew by.
I do have to say that I was somewhat disappointed by the lack of resolution at the end.
Other than the ending seeming too good to be true, I really enjoyed this domestic thriller. I love books like this where multiple characters are at fault and blame themselves, without knowing what else the other characters are doing to add to the problem.
The Adler family seems to have the perfect life. The parents, Viv and Thomas, have successful careers. Their children, Eli and Tarryn, seem to be doing well in school. But each of the four of them have secrets that would shake the foundation of their lives.
The family is taunted by what seem to be childish pranks. Eggs are thrown at the house. Things begin to escalate when a smoke bomb is set off on their porch. Thomas’ tires are slashed. A fire is set in the bushes next to the porch. After each incident, each of the four convince themselves that their secret has nothing to do with the violence.
As each of the four tries to figure out who knows their secret and who could possible be behind this, the book quickly moves forward to the climax. It was a five star read for me.
The Perfect Family by Robyn Harding was a thrilling and captivating read that will keep you at the edge of your seat the entire time! The Adler’s are the perfect family on the outside. But what is on the inside could possibly destroy them. What began as small pranks is now escalating. Now each member of the family begins to wonder if their secret will be what finally brings them down!
This is my second book by this author and definitely my favorite of the two. The Adler’s Thomas, Viv, Eli and Tarryn, all seem to be the envy of the community they live in, but someone definitely does not like them at all. Why? As the pranks escalate and become more serious and dangerous in nature, the family must look at themselves to get answers. Why is this happening? Let me tell you I kept turning the pages to find out myself!
Happy reading!
The perfect family with the perfect life, but things are never as they appear. This is a well-told & fast paced thriller that gets behind the scenes of a family working so hard to appear perfect, but is struggling with so much. I enjoyed the four different POV’s that told each perspective uniquely. Such a great thriller!

How many books do we need about a seemingly perfect family hiding a spider’s nest of secrets behind their flawless, but fragile, facade? At least one more. The Perfect Family gets the trope right.
The less you know about the plot, the bigger the twists! Thomas and Viv are living their best life. Great jobs, beautiful house, and two children set the scene of The Perfect Family. So why is someone trying to ruin it in escalating acts of vandalism and eventually attempted murder? Well, it appears that the family members are not as perfect as they seem. But whose secret is causing such hatred? And how will they stop the mayhem without revealing their secrets to the world and to each other?
Make sure to take a long afternoon nap before beginning this enthralling and nonstop compelling read. It’s 2 a.m. here and I just finished it. Once you start reading, you will not stop until the twisty turny ending.
Hopefully, you have not already read a gazillion books with this same plot —like I have. But even if you have, The Perfect Family is a compelling, twisty, exciting, and highly recommended addition to this mini-genre. 4 stars!

The Adler Family gives off the impression of the perfect all American family but as the story unfolds, you slowly learn each member of this family has a big secret. A secret that could be behind the recent, and escalating, attacks on their house. This story seemed to move painfully slow and felt as though it was dragging and the minute details were weighing everything down. As more time was spent with each character being consumed by the guilt of 'what they had done', the characters felt frantic and erratic. Usually a fan of slow burns with a fast paced ending, The Perfect Family, lost me with how slow the plot line read for the majority of the story. Typically a fan of Harding's writing, this one fell a little short for me.
Someone is vandalizing the Adler’s house… but who? This book was filled with secrets, lies, and hidden truths! I greatly appreciated the writing style, short chapters, and different POVs of the characters as their secrets were slowly uncovered. Overall a decent read with tons of drama! Looking forward to reading more by this author soon!
The Alder family seems perfect, they live in a lie neighborhood, good job, and the perfect children. Or so they seem, but all four of them have secrets to hide. The consequences of these secrets are more then they could imagine.
This was a great domestic thriller. The Alder family did annoy me, especial Viv and Thomas. They add this we have to be the Jones attitude but didn't really think about their children's wants, just about appearances. when their house stared to be attacked Tomas and Viv went about finding things out that may have made things worse. I wasn't able to guess who has been treating them. It was interesting watching their secrets come out, how others will react to them. They ranged from awful to even more awful. The story has a lot of twists and turns that I really liked! It was a fun read that had me guessing!

The Adler family seems to have the ideal life that we all want. Thomas is a successful real estate agent, Viv has a burgeoning home design business, Eli has recently returned from college and Robyn is the typical surly teen. Thomas and Viv have worked hard to maintain their lifestyle, a beautiful home in an upscale neighborhood and nice cars. One morning while leaving for work, Thomas is annoyed to see their house has been egged. He immediately assumes it is someone from Robyns’ school but each member of this family is hiding a secret. What they at first assumed was a random prank escalates as tires are slashed, a bush in front of the house is set on fire and a dead rat is inside the refrigerator. The police advise them to install a security system but there is nothing they can do. As the vandalism escalates, each of the family members believes they are the cause and wants to resolve it before it turns deadly.
This is a must read author for me and this latest will be a favorite among her fans. The pacing is quick and I think many of us will relate to the struggles faced by the Adlers. Each family members secret was disturbing but believable. I would have liked more Tarryn.
This is out tomorrow! Is this on your end of summer reading list?
Thank you to # netgalley and #gallery books for the e-arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
Robyns Harding’s new book The Perfect Family is far from a story about a “Perfect Family”. This suspenseful thriller explores twisted family dynamics and is filled with deviating family secrets. These family secrets turn into perfect nightmares. This mesmerizing story deals with “The Perfect” family on the block that has certain incidents occurring that turn violent. The characters are well developed and very interesting. This author has written an unpredictable, twisted story that I highly recommend. I will definitely read more by Harding!

Loved this one!!! I read it in just a few days which hasn't happened for me in a long time.
This was a perfectly twisty book with secrets, lies and blurred moral lines. The characters were all hiding something and they were all woven together in a way that made the book so devious and delicious!
I have loved everything I have read by this author and recommend her if you haven't tried any of her books yet!

In this new Robyn Harding book we meet the Adler family. Viv- mom and designer. Thomas- dad and real estate agent. Eli- son and college drop out. Tarryn- spoiled daughter with a secret night life. On the outside they have the perfect life until someone/some one's start vandalizing their house. Each family member is hiding something and wondering who is targeting their family and is it their fault??
Amazing book!!!!!!!! This has Robyn Harding's signature style of thrilling writing that makes you have to know what's happening and why. I read this book in one day!!!!!!! I love the surprise of each characters secrets and how juicy each secret is. Really brings to home that you have no idea what goes on inside a home unless your in it. I highly recommend this book.
This is totally my type of story - a seemingly perfect family in a perfect neighborhood with perfect jobs and a perfect house. We hear from all four members of the Adler family as their secrets seep out. Someone is out to get one of them or perhaps all of them? Whose secret is driving this destruction of their property and their lives? It is tense, taut, well written and compulsively readable!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for this ARC!
