It was a good book. The flow and pace of the book were smooth that does keeps me interested. As everyone has some type of secret in this story, it was nice to read it from everyone's point of view. However, it was nice that the storyline doesn't cross over much to where an event was repeated four different times from four different points of view. The characters were okay in my opinion. They don't stand out nor do they blend into the background. The only annoying factor is the insistence of the parents that the attack on the family is because of Tarryn. There were no indications or reasons written by the author that would point to Tarryn as the cause. The build-up to the ending was great; however, the ending was somewhat a little flat in my opinion. It was still a very enjoyable book to read.

This is somewhere between a 3 and 4-star for me. There was something satisfying about seeing unlikeable and clueless characters flounder around a bit. But their cluelessness and poor decision making, both to make them targets and post-targeting, was frustrating. I think that was intentional but god, it’s hard to read people who just don’t think rationally. That’s not really a complaint, even though it sounds like one, because it builds tension. I really was leaning toward 4 stars until the ending. Too many coincidences for me.

It seems everyone is hiding something, but whose secret is the one causing problems?

A family being tormented as a whole and individually, nothing is as it seems.

A wife with a compulsion.
A husband who has a blackmailer.
A son running from college.
And a daughter trying to escape high school reality.

This really is a powder keg on the verge of explosion.

Well written and intriguing, I only have one complaint - why wasn’t the last question answered?

Tom and Viv have it all. When they wake to find their house has been egged they assume it was some rogue kids causing trouble. When the attacks continue to happen, and start to get worse and more dangerous, the family is concerned for their safety. The fact that each of the 4 Adlers has a secret that could make them to cause for the attacks certainly doesn’t help.

Robyn Harding does it again! She seriously has such a way of keeping me flipping the pages while reading her books! I found myself infuriated every time the cameras only showed a figure dressed in black from head to toe, and the frustration with the cops that just waved each attack off had me grinding my teeth. I loved how often my mind changed on who was behind the attacks, and which family members secret was responsible! Overall this was another excellent Harding read!

They seemed like the perfect family…until someone starts to terrorize them, then all their secrets surface. Thomas, Viv, Eli and Tarryn are the picture perfect family - smart, athletic, successful, beautiful home in a beautiful community. But you never really know what goes on behind closed doors. It begins as what they think is a prank - their house is egged. But soon it escalates, the vandalism more damaging and more frightening. The cops can't help, and the family becomes frantic. Each family member has a secret of their own that they are desperate to hide from each other. But which secret might be making them all a target? Misconceptions, miscommunications and fear are a dangerous mix! The Perfect Family by Robyn Harding is a quick read that will take you on a wild and frightening ride! Thank you @NetGalley and @GalleryBooks for the arc to read and review.

The perfect family has many hidden secrets, not only to the outside world, but even to one another. The book follows each member of the family as they reveal their secrets in hopes of figuring out who is terrorizing them in their home. After a menial house egging prank, the pranks begin to escalate and turn into more severe threats to the family. Each family member is dealing with their own internal conflict of how they will reveal their secret, their damaged reputation and why they believe they are at fault for their family's unraveling. It was a great thriller that kept me on my toes searching for answers as to how this perfect family fell completely apart.

This is a little bit skim the surface-y, but offered exactly the level of engagement I was looking for. That is, short chapters and a plot that doesn't exactly require analysis to follow made this a great rainy afternoon read.

Thank you @NetGalley and @GalleryBooks for the advanced copy to read and review. The Perfect Family is anything but that. This family of four each has their own secrets and together those secrets cause much grief!

Synopsis
The Adler family looks perfect from the outside. They work hard to make it look that way. When their home becomes an attack zone, they struggle to deal with the stress while trying to figure out who is out to get them. Kids’ pranks turn more serious as time goes by. The police are unable to help. The cameras they installed only show dark forms with their faces covered until the intruders learn to stay out of view.

Each member of the family has their own issues that none of the others know about. Each wonders if their secret is causing the attacks on their home. Misunderstanding, misgivings, and emotional angst lead to a shooting. Will all of these secrets come to the forefront and solve the issues this family is facing? I read like a madwoman to find out. The final page throws out an ending that is a bit of a surprise. I thought the ending happened, and then pow! Robyn Harding puts a bit of a twist to finish the story off.

My Thoughts
This was one of those books that I didn’t want to put down. I read it in two days as I had to find out what happened. The story kept my interest as there was something new consistently happening to this family. I didn’t put two and two together to figure out what would happen. There were too many things going on between the four family members and some of the other people in their lives for me to make an accurate deduction. If you enjoy thrillers and plot twists, this might just be the book for you. See if you can figure out who is attacking the Adler family.

I wanted to love this one. I love the author's previous books and the premise sounded promising. There is a lot going on with this family, and some of it is way out there. A little beyond belief for me. It did make it hard to guess what was going to happen, since they all have their secrets. However, it just fell a little flat for me. It still was enjoyable to read the end and find out what happened, just a little unbelievable for me. Also, definitely and adult book. The family deals in some very interesting hobbies and I especially was worried about the teen daughter and what teens would get from that. It almost made it seem as if exploiting girls was cool. So this gave me pause. Just not my cup of tea. I will check out future titles from the author in the future and hope for more!

3.5 stars rounded down -

This will be a tough one for me to review as I am a Robyn Harding fan and really enjoyed all of her other books. I did enjoy this one but here are my feelings in a nutshell...

This was a domestic drama, not a whole lot of "thriller", a very slow burn. I prefer more drama and suspense. This was a light read that did keep me entertained but I was left wanting more. Everyone in this family had secrets and some of them were very bizarre. If you are looking for a light read, I believe you will be very happy with this, however, if you want more of a thriller with lots of suspense, you may be left wanting more.

Behind the facade of a perfect family is a houseful of people that all have secrets, and secrets that could make them targets for harassment. When the Adler family wakes up to find their house pelted with eggs, father Thomas insists its just a prank. But could it have anything to do with the wild bachelor weekend he just went on? Next, it's a smoke bomb, but could it have anything to do with mother Viv's odd collection she hides from her loved ones? Then there's car tires punctured, would it have anything to do with the reason son Eli doesn't want to go back to college? And the hooded figure they find on their camera recordings, would it have something to do with the secret nightly activities of daughter Tarryn? In the end, secrets must be revealed to get to the bottom of this harassment, and will it ever go away?

Secrets, guilty and otherwise are all at center stage in this wild ride of a thriller.

A family has secrets and each secret has consequences for this outwardly perfect family. It starts off innocently enough with eggs thrown at the immaculate home but escalates rapidly. A lesson in secrets becoming dangerous. The book was page turning but had some unanswered questions.

I loved how Harding weaves together this novel of dirty little secrets. Each family member had a secret so damning that it could destroy their family. This made it really interesting when trying to figure out who was behind the trouble they were going through. Great read!

This was my first Robyn Harding book and unfortunately it just didn’t do it for me. It centers on the Adler family and everyone is keeping a secret. Eli won’t tell anyone why he dropped out of school, Tarryn has a secret hobby, mom Viv has a bad habit, and dad Thomas is being blackmailed after getting caught in an uncompromising position.

First…. The writing was good, but it felt juvenile at times. I didn’t feel like I was reading a book by a seasoned author or at least not one geared toward adult readers.

This was a domestic drama at best but there wasn’t a whole heap of drama. Yes someone was constantly attacking their house and harassing them and you will want
to know who and why but once you find out it leaves you feeling like….okay? Is that it?

At best this was a very light read. Maybe a good mystery for a beach read. If you’re looking for a compelling, juicy, domestic drama/suspense, this isn’t it. It left far too much to be desired.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.

I haven't read a whole lot of Robyn Harding yet, but I already know that she is never going to disappoint me. The Perfect Family was no exception and you go on quite the ride with it. I loved the way the initial chapters were titled for each character, and if you read it you will see why. It gives you a decent idea of the personality of each of the family members and I thought it was such a unique way to do this right off the bat. I really enjoy books that revolve around families that seem to be perfect, and the Adler's are definitely one of those families until things start happening to them. Pranks start occurring and once they are taken to the extreme, the family members are as well. This one ended up really surprising me, and there is no way I would have guessed that ending. There are plenty of people to suspect of the pranks, and Harding does an excellent job of keeping the reader wondering who it will be. There are so many layers to the characters, and I always love the way Harding writes hers. Even with each of their viewpoints, you don't really know what is going on, and I would call them unreliable overall.

Every one of our family members has a secret they are keeping from the others, and I loved that as the reader we know what they are. Seeing the interactions between them based on what each secret was is so fantastic, and they were all pretty dang shocking ones as well. The Perfect Family is so hard to put down and I ended up reading it in just a couple of sittings. I love the addictive quality of Harding's writing, and I have a feeling it will be like this with every single one of her novels. I actually read this basically as soon as I got it as a buddy read with a friend, and I am very happy with my choice. I don't usually like to read a book months before it comes out, but I will always make that exception with a new novel from this author. The Perfect Family certainly brings the drama and the crazy, and if you haven't read a book by Harding yet this is a perfect place to start!

Thank you to NetGalley for my advance review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

This was a pretty wild ride. I didn’t care for any of the family members. Thomas, Vivi, Tarryn, Eli… they all bottled up all their issues and secrets. Thomas being threatened by an exotic dancer was probably the most ridiculous secret. He was clearly passed out so I don’t see why he was so scared of her. Vivi appeared like a bored housewife. Stealing things from friends and neighbors for no reason other than an opportunity. They were harassed repeatedly and yet the cops did nothing? No one could do a drive by since the attacks literally happened on the same nights over and over? Overall, a very very very farfetched thriller.

The Adler family seems like the typical family… the perfect family. When the family starts getting harassed, shocking and horrifying secrets are unveiled. Who is terrorizing this family? You may be surprised at the answer! This was definitely a page-turner that I had difficulty putting down!

Meet the Adlers - the Perfect Family...or are they. It's not far into this book before you learn that every single family member is harboring a secret, some.a bit worse than others. Outside forces, including acts of vandalism against their home forces some of these secrets to the surface. Who is behind this and will it lead to more violence?

This novel moves so quickly and is filled with twises and secrets. I enjoyed hearing from all four of the family members and the ending did not disappoint. Recommend!

Well, I guess when a family has secrets and bad things start to happen to them, you never know who could be the target. The Adlers seem to be The Perfect Family, but behind closed doors each one of them is keeping a big secret. Eggs are thrown at the house, then a smoke bomb, and then "pranks" start getting worse. Each family member thinks they could be the target even though they all play dumb to each other.

The story is told from 4 POVs - Viv (Mom), Thomas (Dad), Eli (son) and Tarryn (daughter). Thankfully each secret is told to us at the beginning so we aren't kept guessing about what they've done. The culprit, on the other hand, is not revealed until the end and there are a few twists as the author does a great job of throwing out red herrings.

I really enjoyed the different POVs as it helped provide a deep characterization of each person. A well written domestic thriller that keeps you entertained, and keeps you guessing.

And what a book this was! A perfect family, Dad, Mom, Son, and Daughter, all live in a perfect house, in a perfect neighbourhood - Each with secrets of their own. Then when things begin happening in their perfect world - like eggs thrown at their house a smoke bomb thrown, etc - they are left to wonder who and why they are being targeted. As the violence escalates so does the fear. Will the find the culprits before something horrible happens? You won't want to miss this book!
