I have read a few Robyn Harding books so I was excited to get approved to read this one! Well this was a classic Harding book. She has a way of making you annoyed and irritated with the characters of the book. I loved the multiple perspectives between the four family members, shedding light onto all of their secrets. So much was happening to this family but it was getting difficult to feel bad for them. The parents in particular. I did not like them at all. I was not a fan of how breakable the mother was portrayed to be, always about to crack or have a break down. All the while the father was expected to be the protector and take on the role of the man of the house. I am assuming this was the purpose and meant to be increasingly frustrating. Well, job well done. I enjoyed the kids personalities and it was clear how they felt about their parents. This was definitely twisty and I was pleasantly surprised with how things turned out. My biggest issue with this book though....the word hooligan was used probably a gazillion times. It drove me nuts! But I would definitely recommend this to fans of domestic thrillers. It was a quick read and kept you hooked.
Thomas, Vivian and their children Eli and Tarryn seem to be the perfect family - on the outside, but they all have secrets. They live in a nice house in a nice neighborhood until their house is splattered with eggs. Just pranksters they believe, but next comes a hole in the car tire and then someone seems to be watching them. Just exactly why does Eli not want to go back to college and what shameful thing did Thomas do? What does Tarryn do at night behind her closed door and Vivian has her own secret tucked away.
This book flows well and I was surprised at the ending, just what a mystery/thriller should be.
Thanks to the publisher, author and Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Lots and lots of secrets in the perfect on the outside suburban family. Keeps you guessing for sure! For me, this was an okay read. Parts did not feel plausible to me, and in general, characters felt flat and their actions didn't seem to quite add up. But the plot, and wanting to figure out who was harassing the family kept me reading. Thank you NetGalley and publishers for providing a digital ARC for review.
Your home is supposed to be your haven...a safe place...
But it has become anything BUT that for the Adler family.
Told from the alternating POV’s of the parents, Vivian (Viv) and Thomas, and their teenaged children, Eli and Tarryn.
The house is pelted with eggs.
Just an annoying prank by some neighborhood boys, right?
That’s what the Adler’s thought until the next attack was lobbed.
Could it have anything to do with Vivian’s private little habit?
Or perhaps, it’s a warning from the person who just sent photos to Thomas.
Maybe, it is has something to do with the reason that Eli dropped out of college so suddenly and without explanation.
Or perhaps, the assault is because of what Tarryn has been doing late at night..
Each family member harbors a SECRET, and as the pranks escalate to dangerous levels, each will wonder if it is because of what they are hiding, as things

This was my first read of a Robyn Harding novel, but it won’t be my last! I have to be honest-when reading about Sugar Babies was all the rage, I didn’t think her books would be for me!
Apparently, I was mistaken!
I read this addictive PAGE-TURNER in a day!
It was definitely FUN, Domestic Suspense, and I look forward to reading more by this author!
Thank You to Gallery Books for the gifted ARC, provided through NetGalley! It was my pleasure to offer a candid review!

I received a complimentary copy of The Perfect Family from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
What a ride! I could not predict many events in this adventure! Everyone in this family had issues! Interestingly enough, they all kept them under wraps. I had a hard time putting this one down, because 1. It continually kept me guessing and 2. Each family member’s problems were all very likely to have been the root of the harassment that was suffered by the whole family. Great book!
DNF @ 43%. Robyn Harding has a very addictive writing style and she does a great job writing multiple perspectives. I don't have any problem with her writing, I just could not get interested in this story. It was more awful people who have done awful things and are now having awful things done to them. None of the characters were likable, except for maybe Eli. I stopped reading properly at 43% and then skimmed through the last few chapters because I still wanted to see how things ended up and I have to say that I'm ok with my decision to DNF it. I'm sure I'll try another book by this author in the future, but I will need to make sure I'm in the right sort of mood for it.
The Adlers are a family with secrets. Mom Viv, Dad Thomas and kids Eli and Tarryn are all hiding something. A series of attacks against their home leave them all wondering which family member brought this on.
All in all, this was a solid book, it really draws you in and keeps you wondering. I will say that I wasn’t crazy about the last two chapters. It just didn’t make a lot of sense and looking back at previous chapters, just didn’t seem possible.
A fast paced story full of suspense. Thomas and Viv seem to have it all, everything one would need for a perfect life and marriage. But is it? One day things take a turn for the worse for their perfect family.
The family starts being harassed. Their tires get slashed, their house gets egged. Everything starts to go downhill from there. The family has secrets and someone must know something.
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy.
Are the Adlers the face of the perfect family or the perfect facade?
Thomas and Viv Adler, and their children, Eli and Tarryn, live in a beautiful house, drive fancy cars, have successful jobs. They’re the envy of the Oregon town they live in.
Not everyone seems to care for them though, which becomes apparent when their house is egged one night. Thinking it’s a lame prank by kids, they’re not too perturbed...until things start to escalate in the form of punctured car tires, smoke bombs, and more potentially deadly events.
Who could be doing this to them? Do the Adlers have enemies? One thing is apparent: Each one of them has a secret that they are keeping from each other, and each of their secrets have consequences that could provide a motive for someone wanting to harm the family.
I am a huge fan of Robyn Harding, and was thrilled to read this book. Her writing is smooth and seemingly effortless, and I loved getting to know the characters and their juicy, dark secrets. The suspense ramps up as we learn more and more, and the story is expertly told from the four POVs of the family. At times wicked fun and other times disturbing, I was here for it!
The one slight negative is the ending. I think it will be one that folks either really love or really don’t love. I didn’t love it. I needed to know a bit more. Maybe that’s just me. Regardless, that won’t stop me from recommending this to fans of suspense while eagerly awaiting Harding’s next book.
Thomas and Viv Adler are attractive, successful, with well-mannered children and a beautifully restored home. One morning, when they wake up to find their porch has been pelted with eggs. The Adlers are helpless as the assaults escalate into violence, and worse. Everyone in the Adler family is keeping a secrets from the outside world and each other. They need to figure out who the attacks are against. The book has many twists and turns that kept the pages turning until the explosive ending when we find out the reason for the attacks. The writing is good and the characters are very interesting. You begin to realize that the family brought a lot of the problems on themselves by being so secretive. I will definitely be seeking to read more by this author and I recommend the book to those who enjoy mystery/suspense. Thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for a free copy for an honest review.
Overall, I really enjoyed the new Robyn Harding book. Having read THE PACT when it came out, and loved it, I was excited to see another new book by Harding. I enjoyed how the story was told from multiple points of view. Without giving anything away, I was a bit surprised by the ending. I guess I wanted the story to be 'wrapped up and finished' but it was not for me. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy.
I just couldn't get into it. The writing style was not for me. I did like the end's twist. No peeking.
Unfortunately, this book was not for me. I had trouble keeping up with the story and the characters. It may have been because I was reading this story at a very slow pace, but I lost interest in it halfway through and did not finish it .
On the outside, it's easy to think they're the perfect family; successful, wealthy, happy, without a care in the world. But all of that starts to unravel when their home starts being vandalized. With they crack and have everyone find out they're not so perfect after all??
🌟🌟🌟🌟
Each chapter is the perspective of each of the four family members, which I actually really enjoyed; it wasn't messy and didn't make you more confused like most book with multiple view points. It was quick read for me, I couldn't put it down. The end where some of the truth comes out was a little lacking for me, I wanted a more juicy reason for some of the blackmail particularly with the father's storyline. I definitely recommend! OUT AUG 10TH
Thank you so much Robyn Harding, Gallery Books and Netgalley for this awesome ARC!
The perfect family….you know them, they have it all and are just so happy. Yup those are the ones that I always know are the perfect family for real and Robyn Harding tells their deep dark secrets in The Perfect Family.
I have read and enjoyed many of Robyn Harding’s books and this one was no different. I devoured it in a day and half and just could not put it down
So, honestly? The secrets in this book are kind of…boring. But I was definitely intrigued by who was tormenting this family and why. The story lines were so dramatically twisted together that it could have any anyone, for any reason.
The verdict? Sticking with the book paid off in spades. I mean, our family is a bit basic and dull, but the author does a good job of weaving all their little dramas and lies into something that spirals completely and dangerously out of control. And it was well done.
Buy the time I was halfway through the book, there was simply no way I wasn’t going to see how it all ended up.
Good story. The author turns nothing into something explosive and I ended up liking it.

As the Altman’s deal with pranksters egg in them home, we learn about this perfect family. The pranks begin to escalate and we realize they aren’t so perfect after all.
I really enjoyed this story. I wouldn’t say it was a thriller, so much as it was a family drama and mystery. Every single family member had some crazy stuff going on, which made for some good drama but also a feeling of not quite knowing who the “bad guy” was or if there even was one! I enjoyed the different perspectives and how they changed each chapter. I did not foresee the conclusion and there was enough going on that I don’t think many will.
“I realized that everyone in my family has secrets. And mine might be the worse of all.”
The Perfect Family comes out 8/10.
The Adler family really appears to be perfect. Thomas, Viv and their two children Eli and Tarryn live in a nice house, fancy cars, good schools but one night their house is egged. They don’t know why and put it down to a childish prank. But then the vandalism starts to escalate. It seems the family members all have secrets and maybe one of them is the target, but who and why.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
"So Many Secrets. So Many Lies. And So Much Anger." Yes, the title of this review is a direct quote from the book. Yes, it is during the final 10%, when everything is being revealed and wrapped up. And yet you still have no idea what it actually refers to. ;) But that particular line really does sum the book up in and of itself. This is a four person family consisting of mom and dad who have been married for over 20 years, 20 yo college dropout son, and 17yo high school junior daughter - and *every single one of them* are keeping secrets from all the others and actively lying to both the other people and themselves. Harding does a tremendous job of showing flawed, nuanced characters just trying to do what they think is right with limited information... sometimes with tragic results. No one comes out looking squeaky clean, and yet no one comes out looking overly monstrous either. Great job of showing just how murky real life often is. Very much recommended.
Ok so normally when I read a thriller I always have an idea of who did it or where the story was going but not in The Perfect Family. So many twists and turns in this thriller about a family who all has something to hide.! A great read that literally kept me guessing right up until
The end!
