The Adler’s appear to have the perfect family – 2 kids, nice house in an affluent area, good jobs. But their son has returned from college and refuses to return with no explanation. Their teenage daughter has become angry and more withdrawn. Pranks start as the house is egged but quickly escalates. Is the harassment related to juvenile delinquents or targeted to one of the members of the family? Who in the family is this targeted at?
My Thoughts:
Full of secrets and suspense! This domestic thriller kept my attention and entertained me with its shocking conclusion. I recommend checking out Robyn Harding’s new book. I plan on checking out her past book, The Swap, next.
Robyn Harding is one of my favorites and I highly recommend this to thriller fans. I was in a reading slump but this definitely pulled me out of it as I stayed up late into the night reading. It kept me guessing until the very end as to who was responsible for terrorizing the Adler family. A definite thumbs-up!
I am a fan of domestic thrillers so I really enjoyed this book. Each chapter is short and full of secrets and twists. This was a quick read that really kept my attention.!
I wanted to love this book because I love this author, but I found it to be stressful and annoying to read. And the ending just made me angry.
Loved this book so much it's one of my top 5 new releases for the month of August! https://www.instagram.com/tv/CTAJe66p5OL
I read The Swap by this author awhile ago and really enjoyed it, so was excited to try another of her books. All of the characters in The Perfect Family have their secrets, and there are many twists revealed throughout the novel. It was very suspenseful, and a little disturbing. The author's writing is easy to read, which makes the pages turn quickly, which is always a plus when reading a thriller. I can see how people would either love or hate the ending... I really liked it.
Each member of the family has a secret they are trying to keep hidden. When their house seems to be a target for vandalism, they start to point fingers at each other in an attempt to keep the attention off their own personal shame. The chapters are short and action-packed, the perfect format for a page-turning mystery/thriller.
Some of the plot points seemed a little contrived, and the characters are not easy to root for. Alternating between the family members' POVs, it was clear that all of them were primarily focused on self-preservation, and lacking compassion and empathy for others. As the book went on, the family started to unravel more and more. But the setup is intriguing and the story is propulsive, keeping me interested throughout the narrative.
The ending had an interesting twist, but many aspects of the explanation felt forced, and the pieces didn't fall together as well as I would have wanted.
This book wouldn't let me go. It kept hanging on to me - attached word by word. It continued to make my mind wonder - what will happen next? So much goes on in the story that you will want to keep turning the page. This book has all the thrill and all of the suspense. Loved it!
Twisty page turning domestic suspense novel is spot on take down of and enjoyable window into the well-off world of upper middle class striving families, perfect highlights, soccer moms, and the tensions that lurk beneath.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book.
Moves right Along with many interesting plot twists. none of the characters are likeable - privileged overindulged, self centered. Fortunately it was a fast read.

The writing style and plot drew me in right away. However, I felt the character development to be flat. Additionally, the ending was predictable about half way through the book. Recommend to readers as an easy thriller, but not the best thriller out there.
This has everything I love in a thriller: Multiple POV’s, a lot of secrets, fast pace with quick , short chapters, and a total page turner!
The Adler family can’t seem to catch a break. Their house has been egged, tires slashed, taunting threats have been made, and then their bushes set on fire. Between Viv, Thomas, Eli and Tarryn they all have something to hide, so whoever is targeting them could be after any one of them. As the pranks escalate and each member of the family becomes more paranoid and wracked with guilt it’s clear something, or someone, is going to break.
This was so entertaining! It was a wild, family ride. I read this in one sitting! That’s how much I needed to know what the heck was going on. I don’t want to give any spoilers away but you do find out no one is innocent in this book and it forces the family to look at themselves and each other in a new light.
Perfect for fans of Shari Lapena!
I wanna start by saying that I was honored to be chosen to review this book and I have to say Robyn Harding does it again! I loved this fast paced domestic thriller. From the beginning I kept wanting more and it was hard to put down! I love how each chapter was from a different family members point of view. Highly recommend and ready for more!

🏡 🙈🙉🙊 On the outside, the Adler family appears to have it all, but behind closed doors, things are anything but perfect.
Thomas and Viv have a strained marriage and their relationship is filled with complex and disturbing mysteries.
Their teen children, Eli and Tarryn, are unable to handle their own sordid secrets.
When their stories stress the seams, will this seemingly well-put together family fix the mess they have made for themselves?
For fans of Samantha Downing and B.A. Paris.
What looks perfect on the exterior often is hiding something on the inside. The Adler’s looked like the perfect family, but when they become the target for prankster kids, they slowly start to unravel. Vivian and Tom and their children,Eli and Tarryn, each have a secret, does one of those secrets have something to do with the harassment? As the harassment escalates, things deteriorate further, until one fateful night when everything comes crashing down. Filled with several twists, this was an addictive read.
Thomas and Viv Adler live the perfect life with their two perfect kids, Eli and Tarryn, but they are far from “perfect”. Their house is pelted with eggs, they believe it’s teenagers playing a prank but it soon escalates to slashing tires and burning hedges. Each family member has secrets and points the finger at one another. This is a quick, suspenseful read. Thank you to Gallery Books for a gifted copy. This is my honest review.
The Adler family live in a lovely upscale neighborhood in Portland, Oregon. Thomas is a successful realtor and Viv, with her impeccable taste, has just started her own decorating/design firm. One typical summer morning they awake to find their house was egged. Disregarding the event as kids acting out, they begrudgingly clean the mess and move on with their day. Until the smoke bomb is tossed on their lawn. The tires are slashed on Thomas’s car. And their relatively quiet lives are turned completely upside down. Thomas recently attended an out-of-control bachelor party and is now receiving threatening messages. Daughter Tarryn is a mouthy troubled teen exploring a dangerous online community. Star soccer player Eli announces he is dropping out of college and Viv silently punishes herself for her recent indiscretions. As each family member narrates a chapter it is clear someone is out to get them. The Adler’s struggle to keep it together while they question their own culpability, friendships and the importance of maintaining the perfect family facade. Fast paced suspense at its best. Apparently everyone is capable of hiding something.
When the Adler family wakes up to their home pelted with eggs one summer morning, each member uneasily tells themselves it’s a prank. However as these “pranks” escalate and actually become dangerous, mother Vivian, real estate agent Thomas, recent college dropout Eli, and high school daughter Tarryn are each forced to confront whether the secrets they are so desperate to hide could be affecting their family.
Loved this! I think mysteries that focus on family secrets are a subgenre unto itself, and this totally delivered. I felt connected to these endearing but FLAWED characters (HELLO bad decisions!) and found myself dying to know what they were hiding, while also rooting for them each to GET IT TOGETHER. This mystery was well written with very well developed characters, and a satisfying ending!
If you’re looking for a thriller that focuses on family secrets, I’d highly recommend this underrated book well over another recent release that got a lot of buzz, Not a Happy Family. #bookstagram #theperfectfamily

Thomas and Viv Adler, along with their teenage children Eli and Tarryn, appear to the outside world to be the “perfect family” but inside the walls it’s a different matter entirely. Of course, we know there is no such thing as a perfect family and normal is just a setting on the washing machine.
There’s a dark underbelly to the family and the façade begins to crumble when a series of pranks against them quickly escalates into far more serious crimes. Each of them has an explosive secret they are keeping from each another that could bring ruin upon the entire family. And each of them thinks it’s their fault their family has been targeted. This plays an important part into how the story progresses.
Told from the POV of all four Adlers, I enjoyed how the story was told in alternating voices, and I appreciated the underlying message. The story is well-told and engaging as each of the secrets are revealed, and the conclusion was satisfying. An enjoyable, quick read.
This books is a domestic thriller but lacks a lot of the thriller components. Not a lot happened. It felt very repetitive and it was exhausting to read. The ending picked up but everything was so over-the-top.
