Got it! That's the mantra of Gregory "Friz" Collins, a Texas boy who chases footballs like a border collie romping after frisbees--until a concussion knocks him clear into another hemisphere. Friz is not one in a million--he's one in many millions. Because... Injuring his brain...opens his mind.

This is a perfect coming of age meets YA novel, the author has written it very well and one that could resonate well with people. Overall, 3.5 stars. This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

Friz a fourteen year old boy has an accident on the football field and is taken to hospital with concussion.
Several weeks later he finds that although he has never learned to play the guitar he can suddenly play it exceptionally well.
The doctors are saying that his brain injury has made him a Savant but not everyone believes this.
This was a Young Adult novel that I enjoyed reading.
Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Accidental Savant is the story of a football player who get's hit too hard and end's up with a concussion, but then his brain changes in ways that can't be explained. Suddenly he can play the guitar despite never learning how.

I enjoyed this book, however, it wasn't what I was expecting when I read the description. I was expecting there to be some element of mystery.

"Naturally, there are consequences--sudden celebrity and viral notoriety. Worse, he is tormented by guilt... for a crime he can't remember committing."

There was no crime.

However, it was a good coming of age story. A young boy experiencing his first love and getting to know a little bit more about the world. I really enjoyed the story, very well written. If you'd told me this was based on a true story, I'd believe you.
