Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me a free advanced copy of this book to read and review.
as with many poetry collections, some of these poems really hit close to home and ones that i could relate to a lot. others were rather bland, but all in all pretty enjoyable! i’m glad i got the chance to pick it up.
I had not heard of Zane Federick before I had this advance readers copy so did not go in with any expectations.
I am happy to say I really enjoyed this collection of poems and think everyone who reads this will be able to resonate with the feelings that are discussed.
The flow of this poetry collection works very well and has been very well executed in structure.
For anyone wanting to start reading poetry or a fan of the more “Instagram” poetry I thinking am tired of being a dandelion” would be a great starting point.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I thank netgally for letting me review this book.
This poetry books is really lovely and at the same time relatable. I liked the writing style and the atmosphere that this poetry book has.
The only thing I didn't enjoy in this one is that most of the time it felt repetitive and that just disrupt the pleasant atmosphere or emotions the collections has.
Overall this a pleasant read.
I truly never know how to properly review poems because they seem so personal? So subjective to interpretation yet sometimes simple. I absolutely connected to this and I think a lot of the poems were beautiful and I’m so glad to have been able to have read this. I totally recommend this collection, you can definitely tell how meaningful these poems are.
I only deducted a star because I didn’t particularly think some poems resonate with the overall book.
I had the opportunity to read this thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, all thoughts are solely mine.
This was a beautiful collection of poems I really liked to read. The poems held so many emotions that are hard to express but I can say hat I absolutely adored it. There was a lot of raw emotions that my heart really couldn't take and all through, I could feel exactly what the author was trying to convey with his words.
I am not much of a poetry fan, so believe me when I say, I did not expect to like this book as much as I did. Is this what all poetry feels like? Or is this a special Zane thing? I swear I could almost feel the want, the heartbreak and the loss, even though I've never met any of the people involved. It was so raw that it truly felt like a close friend was confiding their feelings in me, and trust me when I say, that is one of the best feelings a book can ever give me. For sure would recommend this to anyone who wants to feel something
Absolutely stunning and powerful poetry, Zane has such a talent and a pure gift with words, I find you feel the emotions he’s trying to show you in each word, touching, heartbreaking but also hopeful. This collection is relatable and to me essential reading . Amazing
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
Beautifully poignant and relatable collection of poetry and prose by the author. It really struck a chord with the need of longing for acceptance, love and the understanding of one self. The writer does an incredible job of navigation on those often painful feelings and exposing own struggles and personal experience, it was so easy to relate to especially when it comes to young love, school and the need to get back up after taking the hits and lumps from life as we grow and develop. Extremely well written and high recommended.
Some of the poems I really did like. Overall the poems are really nice. The poems are not too long - but that is going with a number of collections today so it fits if reader likes that.
after reading the self published version i absoletly loved this updated version. Zane has an amazing way with words.
I absolutely loved this book of poetry and will be recommending it to all my friends. I wish I had a hard copy rather than read on my candle to appreciate the artwork.
The poems were heartbreaking and touching but did have hope. I loved the concept and the references to the title throughout.
Thank you to netgalley for proving an arc.
Overall an extremely enjoyable collection of poems. I found it very easy to connect and relate to Frederick’s writing, and adored the illustrations that accompany the poems. I also love the structure, with the poems being split into its two sections
Understandably a popular poet for a certain age group but doesn’t transcend beyond that niche in my opinion despite its pretty generic formulaic qualities. I know I probably would have liked this as a young dumb teen but I feel these poems would only support some self destructive, desperate behaviors.
I enjoyed this. At times I struggled to connect or find my own meaning in the words but I think this poet is certainly talented and is one to follow.
"I am tired of being a dandelion and trying to get you to blow me away."
First, this gorgeous collection had the audacity to destroy my very being, and then decided to tape my heart back together. Fredrick holds your soul in each word throughout the whole time you are reading. The collection is relatable in more ways than one. With self doubt and lost hope, to self love and acceptance.
This is a beautiful collection that I very much enjoyed. I found much of this to be very relatable and it really resonated with me. It was both heartbreaking and poignant and left me with all the feels. Highly recommend picking this one up!
Since originally sending this I've found myself revisiting many of the poems and I feel it definitely deserves a 5 star over the 4 I've originally given.
Wow I was so excited to read this book since last year. This was an early copy (ARC) but this book release date was yesterday.
What can I say this is poemary fill with the nostalgic of those first loves and those first experiences related to love, and self care and growing up. In a personal perspective I could relate to some of the poems, other give me memories of old songs and bring me back to people of my past.
This book is full of very beautiful metaphors and it's beautiful.
I enjoy it so much.
Zane Frederick’s collection of poetry is so full of heartbreak and hope in equal measure. I like how the phrasings are so relatable without trying to be overtly poetic but still stir your own emotions as poetry should. This is my first time reading this poet’s work but it won’t be my last because the entire collection never ceases to embrace acceptance and hope that the next day will always be better than the day before.
Gorgeously optimistic and heartfelt.
I am kind of wishy-washy on how I felt about this one. I liked some of the poems but others I felt like the writer was trying too hard. I love reading poetry though and a lot of this had a good flow.
Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!
