Written in true V.C. Andrews style. This book takes you to a young girl seeking the love of a father, a family. Her father had left her at a train station, her grandmother picks her up. Saffron is looking for her father hoping to capture a piece of his heart. Well written.
After leaving the Umbrella Lady’s house in the first book of the series, Saffron finds her father in a nearby town. All Saffron wants is a loving family. What she finds there are secrets and the reality that her father isn’t who she thought he was. As always, V. C. Andrews keeps readers guessing until the end.
I really enjoyed this book. It was seam less coming from the last book in this series to this one. I’m super involved with the main character, Saffron. As she goes through the trials of her life. I feel like I’m right there cheering her on. I’m waiting patiently to see if and when the next book will be written and available. If you like VC Andrews I would definitely recommend this book. Thank you #NetGalley and #Gallerybooks for the chance to read this story.
I haven’t read a lot of books by this author but I was impressed. It held my attention and I had to know what happened. I’ll definitely be checking out more books by her. Thank you
I have long been a fan of VC Andrews. However, after her passing, the authors wrote were hired to right under her name used her previous books as an exact formula, with no imagination or changes. They were so predictable and boring.
However, that is not the case with this new series nor the 2nd book. I do recommend reading Umbrella Lady (Book 1 in the series) first as some of the plot of Out of the Rain might be missed. This is a great story as Saffron continues to be wiser than her years and navigates a new family dynamic.
I am re-energized to read some other of the latest publishing under VC Andrews ... and definitely can't wait for what I hope will be another book in this series
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Saffron decided to try to find her father after he left several years ago. She found him living a new life with a new family.
I’ve loved reading vc andrews novels my entire life and this one wasn’t it. It didn’t draw me in like others. Couldn’t even finish
Nobody writes crappy parents and tragic heroines like V.C. Andrews. The story is in the vain of your usual V.C. Andrews novels. Great dialogue and story but I was confused on the timeline. Otherwise I enjoyed this book.
Andrews did such a great job unfolding Saffron's struggle of identity and need to tell the truth. Poor Saffron just wanted a loving family and her father back in her life, but she fell into a web of lies and a family with skeletons in the closet. I really enjoyed this read, although the ending felt so sudden! I wanted more depth on the family background and what other secrets her father may be hiding.
I have been a fan of V.C. Andrews for years but really felt like this was just the same story switched up a little. I felt really bad for Saffron, her dad was a real jerk. But, I actually liked Amos and think that if they explore that storyline it might make me pick up the next book. Because they couldn't have left if on a bigger cliffhanger, which really didn't sit well with me.
I love this author and I was so excited when I received this book! It didn't disappoint. I loved this one even more than the others previous work! It was unputdownable
This book was sent to me by Netgalley. I reviewed it on Kindle. It is dark and mysterious. I could not finish this book because of the subject matter. Others might like this . Try it.
I did not realize this was a series so I will have to read the others. But reguardless, I enjoyed this book. I read flowers in the attic also and really loved it as well, so I had high hopes for this book. Thankyou Netgalley for a copy!
The ghostwriter for V.C. Andrews has lost his touch. I think I'm gonna have to give up on these books from now on. Thankful to NetGalley for allowing me to read a copy of this novel.
After escaping the trauma of the Umbrella Lady’s home, thirteen-year-old Saffron Faith Anders is determined to find the father who abandoned her all those years ago. But when she finds him in a nearby town, Saffron is shocked to discover that he has married a woman he clearly had been involved with before her mother’s death.
WoW!!!!! This was a crazy ride! I devoured this book! Really enjoyed this book! Its a wild one!
Thanks NetGalley publishers and author for this arc!
I did not know this was a series of books. BUT, I enjoyed Out Of The Rain by V.C, Andrews, I remember Flowers in The Attic. I will have to now have to read the Umbrella Lady. I can tell by Saffron, she learned much at an early age from The Undrella lady. What a wicked, evil man her father is. I love how Saffron was a wise one to play him.
Book Two in the Umbrella Series. Although it isn’t necessary to read book one, it will enhance your experience if you do. “Out of the Rain” has Saffron searching for her father who abandoned her years ago. She does find him.... and the story unfolds from there. I don’t want to give much away but this book does make you question the value of parental love when it is also a constant source of pain. I appreciated this book and I recommend it. Solid 3.5 stars.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book.
Thank you NetGalley for the digital ARC ! I was so excited i started it the second i was notified i had been approved. This book....so many thoughts and emotions. For her Dad to come up with this stupid plan? OMG. But she did start to fit in well. I hope she stays. I think it would be more fun for her to torture her father with the truth then to disappear. I cant wait for the next book!
