Lady Griselda Niven sees her maid acting strangely somewhere she had no business being, so she follows her. What happens next is the most shocking thing she has ever seen.
Dragan Tizsa is a Hungarian refugee and a doctor's assistant. When an acquaintance asks to meet he doesn't expect to be arrested for her murder.
Our heroine might be the daughter of a Duke but she is happily living as an unnoticed and independent woman. She does what she wants with little to no supervision.
Our hero's revolutionary ideas and status make him the ideal person to pin the crime on.
An absolutely fascinating murder /mystery and historical romance all in one. There is plenty of intrigue, excitement and even a few giggles.
This is the first in the series a d I can t wait to read the rest.
I loved it.
Grizelda stumbles upon her murdered maid and sets out to solve the murder. Dragan stumbles upon Griz at the murder scene and they decide to work together. Despite his demons from being a refugee and a war time doctor, they come to care about each other. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Press for my honest review.
I really liked this book. I immediately took to Griz and her independent character, although her name is awful. The murder mystery plot is well written and the slow burn romance has some really nice scenes in it. I enjoyed that the book did not concentrate on the passionate aspect of their relationship so much. Reminded me a bit of the books by Amanda Quick. The family dynamic around Griz and her siblings was also lovely to read about.
I only was a little disappointed that couple not really solved the murder. The murderer panicked and reacted stupidly. It's a nice plot device and the identity of the murder was a nice twist, but it irked me a little bit that we followed the investigation and in the end non of it really pointed at that person. Also the title of the book doesn't seem to the couple nor to the case.
Beside these minor grumblings it was a very enjoyable easy to read book.
