Sweet Djel, this book was incredible. I don't think I've read a book so bittersweet in all the best and worst ways. I love that Bardugo writes such incredibly strong female characters that actually feel like real people (minus the whole Grisha powers thing ofc). Please please please let us get this far in the show because I need to see Zoya's riveting character development (and I'll take as much Nikolai Lantsov as I can get).
If you haven't begun the King of Scars duology yet, DO IT NOW. I'm blown away and will definitely be rereading this later in the year.
SO GOOD!!!!! I love this so much. Definitely top three favorite Grishaverse books. I wish there was more Zoyalai fluff in the epilogue, and I need SOC3 ASAP.
I loved this teaser! I can't wait to read the whole book and find out what happens with the Darkling, Nickoli and Zoya. Especially the last two!
I love the world that Leigh Bardugo has created. Often when authors drop hints throughout a story, I find myself already knowing how things are going to play out at the end because of it. Not so in this case. The story gave me not one, but THREE events that I didn't see coming near the end. Despite the fact that this is book 2 of a duology, it beautifully sets up another story that I'll be impatiently awaiting.
While this was just the first chapter, I have since read the entire book. I loved it! I have thoroughly enjoyed the Grishaverse these last few months. Nikolai is probably my favorite character in this book world, so my biggest complaint was not enough Nikolai. Otherwise, highly enjoyable
Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo is amazing so far of course. Her writing style is always unique and interesting. I did not love King of Scars because of Nina's character but adding more characters to this story creates a more well rounded story. It's not just sadness. I love that the Darkling is back, he is my favorite character and look forward to finishing this book.
This preview was..ahh..I can't wait!
I would like to thank the publisher and netgalley for providing me a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Like every Leigh Bardugo book, I loved the characters. Every single one of them is written out very well, and they all have both likeable and hateful characteristics - which makes them human. I must say that this book was a bit hard to read for me sometimes, because there is so much talk about war and finding allies. This made it a bit hard to read at times, because not a lot was happening. This was especially the case for the Nikolai and Zoya chapters, but not for the Nina chapters; they were great in my opinion.
Full review is posted on Goodreads.
A fabulous sneak peak. The story and world are sure to please any fan of Bardugo's Grishaverse.
The first few chapters set up an intriguing plotline and hit the ground running. We follow Nikolai on following through his arranged marriage, Zoya on confronting old feelings for the darkling, and the conflict in Shu and how it effects all the characters.
Here is my full review of the full book of Rule of Wolves!

This book was by far my favorite of the grishaverse series. I love how it brought all of the characters together one last time. Love it sooo much
So I think I’m in a pretty similar space and feeling about this book as I was with book one. It didn’t quite deliver the kicking of ass I expected but I was a lot less bored. And yet..
I don’t know, I feel like this book did a lot of good, or great things, but I think I enjoyed it because of the whole. This really is a ‘verse now, and we had even more reunions and cameos in this follow up installment than we did in book one, and I did enjoy myself. But this particular book and series? I don’t know.
But what this spinoff set up for us to come? Some of the loose ends, or unknowns, it tied up and revealed to us? I mean, I’m pretty satisfied.
While I was less bored, which was my main complaint about KING OF SCARS, this did take me a huge chunk of the day to get through (and yes it a chonky book in general) because it just didn’t compell me, capture my attention, keep me from reaching for twitter. But despite that it did keep me reading all day which is in short supply lately (always).
So, make of all this what you will! I will continue to reach for books, or whatever kind of content (one week as of the writing of this before the show!) Bardugo offers us, but is this series a favourite? No. Maybe on reread? Who can say. But I had a good time anyway.
3.5 stars
So, the book is already put, and and I’m super excited and hella nervous for both of my boys. For my king and moi sovereniy. I’m so afraid of Leigh will do with my pour heart and soul. But as usual, our Grisha Queen serving THE best characters and plot twist.
Oh, so. See you on the other side
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Publishers and Leigh Bardugo for this sneak peek ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I LOVED this three chapter preview of Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo.
The blight is spreading, a marriage is on the horizon and King Nikolai is riding out among his people to address their fears and prejudice. Reading the first chapters of this book was like sitting down with old friends. As always the writing is beautiful and the characters are magical.
A wonderful teaser of this breathtaking world! I can't wait to dive back into it! This chapter sampler sets up the plot for the rest of the novel, and leaves you on the edge of your seat—a must read before completing the series!
Rule of Wolves is the sequel to the amazing King of Scars, two books part of The Grishaverse, I had very high expectations for this book, and the first few chapters did not fail to hook me in and keep me wanting to read. I can't wait to get my hands on the book to read.
This book has been waited for , for a long time. I was so excited to review the beginning and I cannot say I was not disappointed I cannot wait for the book to come out and finish the rest of the Grishaverse world. This world has brought a new meaning to stories for me.
Bardugo writes so well but I wasn’t as sucked into this sample as much as I wanted to be. But I am very interested to see what happens next!
Leigh Bardugo is definitely one of my favorite authors and I’m so excited to finish the Grishaverse books.
Leigh Bardugo knows how to start a book right (well, maybe except the very first chapter but who cares) I read this sample in one setting.
