A parent’s worst nightmare - this story had me on the edge of my seat throughout. Fast paced and thoroughly engaging I absolutely whizzed through this in a weekend. Full of twists and turns and clever plot lines . Smart and scary.
This was an interesting read by an author that I was not familiar with having never read their work before. I always enjoy a new to me author and I wasn’t disappointed.
I found the characters interesting and really had a depth to them with lots of details described for me to portray them in my mind and really get inside them.
The story line took me to a place I wasn’t expecting and kept me intrigued right until the end.
I would recommend to anyone interested in this genre and will be reading more.
Thank you to netgalley and publisher for the arc of This book
5 stars (sorry its late had technical issues at time submitting my review)
Such a great read readwithin 24 hours too, compelling, twisty. Dark and addictive made me want more! Edge of seat page turner! Highly recommend
I was so lucky that I was sent this book to read before release and wow I just couldn’t put it down.
Start to finish there were twists and turns. This is a parents worse nightmare and whilst I felt Alexa’s actions were selfish I couldn’t stop feeling the pain for what she would have gone through. That’s the art of sucking in a reader so they feel part of the storyline. With a surprising ending. This is an absolute MUST read.
Thank you to Netgalley and HarperCollins for the opportunity to read an advance copy in return for my honest review. #tessstimson #NetGalley
Ok I love love loved this book. I devoured it! So twisty, and I was entirely engrossed in this book. Can't wait to read another Tess Stimson book!
Stolen was the first book that I have read by Tess Stimson, but it will definitely not be the last. Well written, fast-paced, page turner that keeps you guessing to the end. #Stolen#NetGalley
An emotional roller coaster for the characters and the readers as STOLEN details the disappearance of a small child and the judgement the mother is subjected to when social media brands her an unsuitable mother. She must fight through her own anxiety to find her daughter while fighting her fear that the judgement could be right. The suspense filled story will provide enough clues that you'll change your guess of the kidnapper's identity every other chapter, but it's definitely a surprise when the reveal comes. A really great book that was easy to get lost in. 5 easy stars.
I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.
Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.
However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x
Wowzers! What a story! There are many thrillers written about missing children, but this one is different. I don’t generally read the missing children trope because they either make me sad or bored, but I enjoyed Tess Stimson’s book “The New House” so much, I just had to give it a chance. This book gripped me from beginning to end and at about 70% I could NOT take my eyes off the page. Even while putting on my make up, I had one eye on the mirror and one eye on my kindle! I noticed some reviewers did not like the ending but I thought it was clever and twisty and I did NOT see that coming at all! To avoid any spoilers, I am not going to summarize, but I do encourage thriller lovers to read this author, her books are twisty, tense and nail biting in all the best ways! Thank you Netgalley, Avon Books UK and the author for this eARC in exchange for my honest review. This book is available now!
I do have to admit, I could not STAND this mother at the beginning of the book. What mother responds that her 3 year old daughter doesn't need to her to check in on her, she's a smart girl?? She just assumes that everyone else at the wedding will keep an eye on her. She's THREE! She doesn't even "ask" anyone to keep an eye on her, while she goes off and has sex with a random person.
I found it ironic that later on she sees her behavior in someone else and judges it. BUT then again, she now sees the consequences that can happen. I did like the misdirection given throughout the book, making you think of the multiple possbilities of what might of happened. The ending was interesting as well.
Overall, it was good. It's not at the top of my favorite's list, but worth a read.
Unfortunately I cannot rate higher than a 3 as I struggled to connect with this book and therefore had to put as dnf.
Special thank you to Netgalley and the author for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Omg. This one had me from the jump. Imagine going to a friends wedding, traveling to Florida, all the way from the UK, with your daughter, who is the flower girl in the wedding. Then, soon after the ceremony, your little girl is missing. This thriller had me biting my nails and switching positions in my seat all night! The twists had me guessing all the way until the last page! Even when I knew how it was going to end, BOOM! another twist thrown in.
Amazing.
Gripping from start to finish on this one by Tess Stimson. While at a beach wedding, Alex looses her three-year-old daughter. While she loves her daughter so very much, she struggles being a mother, and then she herself becomes a suspect. Such a well written book with a great story. Good character development and kept my attention throughout the entire book. So much so that I purchased the audiobook, so when I couldn't sit down to read, I could listen. So worth one credit at audible. Great multiple narrator's. I recommend this suspense/thriller to anyone who loves this genre. A new author for me and I can't wait to read more from her.
A very special thank you to Avon Books via NetGalley for the advanced readers copy in exchange for my honest review.
Tense and heart racing from the beginning ,
The story is addictive. Short exciting chapters. The book is very well written.
I loved the characters especially reporter Quinn, battling to stay on the right side of sobriety whilst trying to track down the kidnapper and get the next big scoop.
With references to real cases of child abduction this is uncomfortable reading at times and the book shines a light on the disparity in police efforts to locate white abducted children.
This is fast paced, unpredictable, emotional thriller that I couldn’t put down
I had to think about how to review this book for quite some time. Had no idea how many stars to rate it.
For starters I absolutely adore Tess Stimsons writing. She is a truly gifted storyteller...I read this in one sitting. I could not put it down.
I loved where it started and how quickly the story progressed.. I thought the characters were so well drawn and realistic and I was literally holding my breath at some points. I was so involved in the story.
Up until the last few chapters I was thinking I love this so much...this is a 5 star book...but everything from the meeting of the foundation onwards...it just fell apart. Every single story thread from that point, didn't work for me.
Alexa's actions became unfathomable and all characters that was so human before became caricatures. Which was such a shame.
I also did not like Quinn's story at all...I just disliked her immensely. Even though I really wanted to like her and connect to her.
The ending was so disappointing.. ..I really thought it was going to be a shock or a twist or something that makes you gasp but it bordered on silly.
Such a fantastic book up until the end. It was a really breathtaking ride and then fell flat.
Love Tess Stimson's writing style though.
Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The missing child trope has been done a lot and can be quite samey however this one had a bit of an edge and I found it to be dramatic and intense with a gripping plot that kept me engaged from start to finish
Twisty and ever so tense, this one kept me guessing right to the end. Great twists and I liked the characters.
This was an absolute brilliant read. Atmospheric. Gripping. Edge of seat stuff.. Echoes of the disappearance of Madeliene McCann in parts.. Would make a great TV drama
Loved it….!!! Really good fast paced thriller that had me hooked from the start, a must read for anyone who likes been kept guessing! Great for the beach!
The story of Lottie's abduction is just all over the news. I feel very bad about what Alex have gone through for more than 2 years of Lottie's abduction! Her nightmares of what must have happened to Lottie is awful! How could anyone do this? Not to mention the abductor is totally unexpected! This book kept me guessing until the end! It's an intense read! I stayed late just to finish this. I regret not reading this any sooner!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for the Advance Reading Copy.
I will post a review on my website very soon! :))
